Chapter 645: Chapter 645 Breaking Out of a Millennium of Seclusion... Wait, Why is the Sect Bankrupt?!
"Azure Dragon King? Who is that?"
"You’re all imbeciles! You clearly don’t know your history."
"I know him! I’ve read about him!"
"The Azure Dragon King was a legendary hero who fought against the invaders from the other continents millions of years ago. He was one of the greatest warriors of that era. I can’t believe he’s still alive!"
As soon as those words were spoken, the surrounding crowd erupted into excited discussion.
The name Azure Dragon King carried an extraordinary weight. Even those who had never personally seen him had heard the stories.
His deeds had been recorded in countless ancient texts, passed down through generations, and turned into legends that parents told their children.
Millions of years ago, when powerful forces from other continents invaded their lands, countless cities had fallen and entire sects had been destroyed.
It was an era remembered as one of the darkest periods in history. And among the many cultivators who had risen to defend their homeland, one name had stood above the rest.
The Azure Dragon King.
He had fought countless battles, faced terrifying enemies, and protected ordinary people and cultivators alike.
Some ancient records even claimed that he had once fought an entire horde of cultivators by himself and emerged victorious.
Of course, over the countless years that had passed, the truth behind those stories had become difficult to distinguish from exaggeration. Still, everyone remembered his name.
"I never thought the Azure Dragon King was actually still alive!"
"My grandfather used to tell me stories about him when I was a child!"
"My sect has an ancient painting of him! The person standing there looks exactly like him!"
"Wait, are you saying that really is the Azure Dragon King?"
"It has to be! Who else could possess such an overwhelming aura?"
The crowd became increasingly restless.
People who had originally been watching the situation from a distance began moving closer. Some stood on their tiptoes, trying to get a better look at the legendary figure.
Others whispered among themselves, their eyes filled with awe and disbelief.
"To think that I would actually witness a living legend with my own eyes..."
"Millions of years. He survived for millions of years!"
"How terrifying must his cultivation be?"
"Forget his cultivation. Just surviving for that long is already an incredible feat!"
The younger cultivators were especially excited. To them, the Azure Dragon King was almost like a character from an ancient myth that had suddenly stepped out of the pages of history.
An older cultivator, however, looked at the Azure Dragon King with a complicated expression.
"You youngsters don’t understand," he said quietly. "The Azure Dragon King wasn’t merely some famous cultivator. During the invasion, he was one of the pillars holding our entire continent together. If the ancient records are true, countless people would have died without him. At worst, we wouldn’t be here today and free. We would all be slaves."
His words immediately silenced several people nearby. They looked at the Azure Dragon King with even greater respect.
"So he really was that incredible..."
"Of course he was," the old cultivator replied. "Back then, simply hearing his name was enough to give our enemies nightmares."
The crowd became even more excited.
"I want to hear him talk about the invasion!"
"Do you think he remembers everything from millions of years ago?"
"Of course he does! He’s the Azure Dragon King!"
"Maybe he knows secrets that have been lost to history!"
Everyone talked at once, their voices overlapping.
For many of them, this was no longer merely a confrontation between powerful cultivators. It had suddenly become a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a figure who belonged to the distant past.
A living legend. A hero who had survived countless years. And now, that very hero was standing before them.
The atmosphere became strangely reverent as people slowly realized just how extraordinary the situation was.
Even some of the older and more powerful cultivators could not hide the excitement in their eyes. After all, regardless of how much the world had changed, legends remained legends.
And today, one of those legends had walked out of history and appeared before them in the flesh.
"Oh, Great Medicine King, you honor me too much." The old man smiled faintly and shook his head. "All the glory I once possessed has long since faded into the past. The world has moved on, and the younger generations have forgotten the name Azure Dragon King. Time has passed me by."
His voice was calm, almost indifferent, as though he were speaking about someone else entirely.
"Now, I’m merely an old man waiting for the end of his life. I have no desire for fame or glory anymore. If anything, I only hope that you might be willing to help me through the remaining years of my life and allow me to leave this world peacefully, without suffering needlessly."
The old man’s words immediately caused many people nearby to look at him strangely.
The legendary Azure Dragon King was actually asking someone to help him live out the final days of his life?
For a moment, the crowd found it difficult to reconcile the legendary figure from the ancient records with the frail-looking old man standing before them.
Yet beneath the old man’s calm expression, his thoughts were anything but peaceful. He was genuinely shocked. He had not expected Lin Feng to recognize him so easily.
His identity as the Azure Dragon King had been buried beneath the passage of time. His glorious era had occurred more than a million years ago.
After suffering severe injuries during one of the great battles of his time, he had disappeared from the world and entered an extremely long period of seclusion.
He had spent countless years suppressing his injuries, desperately trying to preserve what remained of his life. Over the years, the world had changed.
The people he once knew had long since died. The sects and kingdoms he had once protected had risen and fallen. Even many of the ancient records describing his exploits had gradually become incomplete.
As far as he knew, only a handful of truly ancient existences should still have been capable of recognizing him. Yet Lin Feng had identified him with merely one glance.
The old man’s eyes narrowed slightly as he secretly observed Lin Feng.
Could the medicine king be an old monster as well?
