I Just Wanted Friends, But My Summons Keep Eating the Bosses (ND)

Chapter 177: Some ’Ha Ha Ha’ and Rango’s Poem...

Night said, “Yes, sure, whatever makes you sleep peacefully at night.”

Rango’s demeanor suddenly changed. “Ha ha ha, my big friend Night, when the time comes, we will take care of them together.” He patted his paws on Night’s back like he met his long lost friend.

Night replied, “Sure, if you survive them. I heard they attack the big-looking ones first. As you know, they have more meat on their bones.” He grinned as he dodged Rango’s paws

Rango laughed, “Ha ha ha, a beautiful woman once said size doesn’t matter…”

Night chuckled, “Ha ha ha, I am sure she was lying. Besides, I am afraid she was talking about something else there… To the monsters, however? Size will matter, and you look really tender and big, and your muscles must be soft like cotton…”

Before he could continue, Rango quickly said, “I am sure it will not come to that! We will work together to beat them off to where they came from… ha ha ha.”

Though he said that, he slowly reduced his size until he was even smaller than Night.

Night saw this and added, “With our numbers? Sure!!! Ha ha ha!”

Rango said, “We will just work overtime, ha ha ha!”

Night: “Ha ha ha.”

Rango: “Ha ha ha.”

They laughed together. While Night’s laugh had an ominous ring to it, Rango’s laugh had a huge tinge of nervousness to it.

Minerva, Vance, Victor, Argus, and the others looked at them speechlessly.

Suddenly, Night paused. Seeing this, Rango also paused.

Night looked like he was speaking to someone telepathically, while Rango looked up at the sky and frowned.

”Did something happen?” Minerva asked, still standing behind Night.

Rango didn’t say anything, as though he wasn’t completely sure.

Night explained, “The Dream City, one of the human cities in this world, is merging with the other three cities. The City Ruler just informed me that the process has started.”

Rango nodded. “I see. No wonder I saw the space laws being manipulated to such a degree. A city merger makes sense.”

Night asked, realizing something, “On your planet, there are no cities?”

Vance said, “We have them, but a city merger is a rare thing, considering all the known cities are already self-sufficient.”

Night said with a smile, “Rare, huh? Then let’s go watch it up close.”

The others nodded, as they were curious too.

Night cut open the space and jumped through.

The next moment, they appeared near the Dream City, though they were still some distance, since the city merger would expand the city.

They could see the Dream City was glowing, covered in runes that felt ancient and incomprehensible. The aura it gave off was deeply mysterious.

The runes moved in patterns around the huge Dream City; to them, it looked like they were moving at random, but the sheer complexity and sophistication made them see what perfection truly was.

The runes were in different colors. Some of the colors were common, but most of them felt like they didn’t belong to any known color spectrum.

Night and the others marveled at this. It was so beautiful and bizarre that even his friends inside his Soul Space came out to watch.

Night was the one most entranced by this since he was watching it from both inside the city and outside the city. Plus, his Domain showed him everything with so much clarity that even if there were a 100K display, it would fail to replicate it, forget about 8K or 4K.

Rango muttered, “I didn’t expect to see a light show here… It’s weirdly poetic… making me want to compose a poem…”

Night’s lips twitched, while the others looked at the wolf with curious, puzzled, and even amused looks. None of them said anything, not wanting to offend him.

Rango took this silence as permission, cleared his throat, and announced, “Poem: System’s Love Letter.”

Alas, the poem’s name itself told them it would be the best to stop right now lest they loose their ears.

Unfortunately, before they could stop him, he had already started…

Rango recited:

“I came to conquer an apocalyptic world,

Didn’t expect to see a light show…

The beauty blinding;

Love comes in all colors.

I came to rule an apocalyptic world…

Didn’t expect to see the System’s love letter…

The feelings ancient…

Expectations in every letter…

Aiya, Aiya, Aiya, if I didn’t have to make the world kneel,

I would have admired it more…

Woof, Woof, Woof, if I didn’t already have a harem,

I would have loved you back to my heart’s core…”

Night and the others had deadpan expressions especially Death, whose fingers twitched as she struggled with the urge to turn him into an undead then and there…

After Rango was done, he looked at them with high expectations on his wolfish face. He looked like he was waiting for their praises, though he was sure to be disappointed…

Alas, fortunately or unfortunately, there is always an odd one in the group who is an oddball and likes terrible stuff, or maybe they just felt bad and were cheering him on.

Sage clapped and praised, “It was beautiful…”

Rango looked flattered and embarrassed, but you could tell he was happy; his wagging wolf tail was proof of it.

However, Night had a horrified look on his face. ‘Sage, my cute monkey…. No, not you…. Anyone but you!’

Then Sage turned to Night and asked cutely, “Did you like it too, Night?”

Everyone turned to Night. Their faces were stoic, but the gleam in their eyes didn’t go unnoticed, they were low key enjoying it, his Domain capturing it with the same clarity as the city merger.

Rango looked at him expectantly.

Night facepalmed internally. He wanted to be honest and say it was crap, but he couldn’t bear to disappoint the cute Sage.

As for Rango’s expectations? Could he eat them?

Night spoke with great difficulty. It looked like something had broken within him as he uttered the following words with the fakest smile he could make: “It was poetic….”

Alas, that was all he managed to say; any more words wouldn’t come out of his mouth no matter how much he forced them.

However, for Rango, it was more than enough. He kept nodding. “Poetic, beautiful! Yes, yes, you guys managed to understand my poem! I knew you guys were special enough to recognize my art… Though it’s sad that even my wives fail to understand my profound words…”

No one said anything. It was as if Rango didn’t exist in their vision; they merely looked back at the city merger with plain expressions.

All the marvel they had felt when they first saw it disappeared like fog in the wind…

They looked like women who had just lost their innocence to an ugly duckling…

…

Earlier, Night, Sara, Arthur, and Zora had teleported to the sky in the Dream City.

Zora, pulled out the City Merger Token. It looked like a small crown that was even smaller than the palm of her hand.

Zora said, “I will now start the city merger. I don’t know if I will be defenseless, so I hope you guys can protect me and the city.”
