Chapter 238: I Don’t Have Time To Play Anymore

Holding the weakened Woolie’s body in his hand, Raiden just sat there slumped down for quite some time, feeling tired from it all.

"Raiden...??" Theodore and Aria approached closer slowly, calling out his name with an uncertain tone in their voice.

Raiden didn’t answer; he just looked at the Woolie, who had closed his eyes again for rest.

"Are you okay...?" Aria tried to approach him slowly, but found her path blocked by a gigantic crimson tail, causing her to stop in her tracks.

She lifted her head up slowly and came face to face with a chilling pair of golden eyes, causing her to freeze up and shiver.

"Hisss~" Back off. Take one more step, and you will die.

Aria found herself frozen in fear, as her legs started wobbling in place. She never felt closer to death than she did right at this moment.

As if she so much as dared to move a single muscle, her existence would end, right here, right now.

Suddenly, she felt two strong hands gripping her shoulder and pulling her back from the jaws of death, causing her to finally take some big gulp of breaths.

"...ter...bi....ster....Big Sister!!!" Theodore shook her shoulders wildly, trying to snap her out of it.

"Huh?? Little Theo...??" Aria still felt very frightened.

"It’s me! Are you okay, big sis??" Theodore had a concerned look on his face as he glanced at his sister.

"Uhh..Yeah!! I am fine. We should just...um...let’s get away from Raiden for a little bit and give him some space, all right??" Aria threw a fearful glance at Rose, who had already stopped paying attention to her, her voice trembling in the end.

Theodore also threw a cautious glance at Rose before nodding his head.

"Alright, I doubt the enemies will dare to come back. We should get some rest for now."

He took Aria and moved a few dozen metres away from Rose, who was protecting Raiden, before setting up a camp.

After setting it all up, he glanced carefully in the distance, where Rose was guarding Raiden, and felt the dangerous aura she was exuding, driving away all the stragglers in the Terra Beasts that were left behind after the fight.

He didn’t dare to go any closer to them; it was only after moving such a distance away that he felt safe.

There was something that obviously had gone wrong with Raiden and Woolie, and whatever it was, he really hoped they could sort it out.

He silently started camping out here, waiting for Raiden to wake up.

------------------------------

It was the morning of the next day when Theodore was finally able to see Raiden once again.

He found him standing in the distance, looking outwards while holding Woolie against his chest, as Neva and Ruby found their spots on his shoulders once again.

" Are you awake??"

Raiden’s voice rang out before Theodore could even say anything.

"Ah...Yes!! Good morning, Raiden. Is everything alright??" Theodore found himself trembling as he spoke for some reason.

"Yes, I am. Since you are up, come on, let’s get moving. I need to finish this fast." Raiden answered in a perfectly calm tone.

"Huh? What do you mean??" Theodore asked, feeling bewildered.

"This tournament, this farce, I want to end it as fast as possible. No more holding back. Anyone who gets in my way from now on Dies. I Don’t Have Time To Play Anymore." Goosebumps broke out on Theodore’s skin as he heard the chilling voice of Raiden.

It felt like he wasn’t looking at his peer anymore, but at a cold-blooded killer. A killer who had walked out of hell, with thousands of corpses left in his wake.

The sensation felt so real that Theodore’s body moved before he could think, unconsciously taking a step back from Raiden.

"All right, we’ll aim to finish it by today, but it’s going to be really hard; there are still three more..." After a few moments, he calmed down before he replied to Raiden.

His voice trailed off in the middle as the oppressive feeling from Raiden got even stronger. Something told him it wouldn’t really bode well for him if he kept speaking right now.

"Don’t worry about anything else. I will take care of it all. Just get ready as soon as possible." Raiden left the clearing after he finished his words, moving away to clear his head.

Standing at the shore of a nearby river, he started thinking about the events that happened yesterday and felt anger boiling up inside of him.

He felt angry at the million-year-old wolf that wanted to take over Woolie’s body, but more than that, he felt angry at himself. He felt angry that he noticed all the signs Woolie was showing: the increased aggression, the going out of control ever so slightly. Yet he ignored it all and called upon him to fight once again because he was so used to having his best partner solve all the problems.

He was supposed to be better than this. He looked at Woolie, who was sleeping peacefully in his arms, and felt something twist inside his chest.

"Not again... I will never repeat this mistake ever again... Take care of yourself, buddy. I swear I will try to find a way to solve this for once and for all. But first, let’s take care of this bullshit tournament. I had enough of this."

"Sha Sha!!" Don’t worry, Rai Rai~ I am with you. I’ll protect the big brother from now on.

"Hiss~!" Yes, yes, Rose will take care of all the enemies and protect big brother and you forever.

A soft smile broke out on Raiden’s face as he heard the concerned voices of his two little Terra Beasts. He lifted his right hand before patting both their heads.

"Haha. All right, I am counting on you both to protect Woolie and me in the future. As soon as we are done with this, Let’s Go Home."
