Chapter 118: Chapter 81: A World Where Only Aunt Gets Hurt

"Do you think you’ll ever become a department head?"

"No way. I’m not even an official member. I basically bought my way in, so I’m just here to coast."

"But I really think you could..."

"I don’t know where you get that confidence from."

"I don’t just think you can be a department head. I think you could be the president."

’Whoa!’

’You can go help your boy Jin Yechao take down the president!’

The autumn wind swayed the branches. The two of them walked to the pharmacy at the entrance of the residential complex and bought a tube of erythromycin ointment.

After paying, they took the ointment and headed back.

By then, Fang Youqing and Aunt Liu had already finished bathing Zhao Wen Cheng.

Once they returned with the ointment, Fang Youqing applied a small amount, and the job was done.

The takeout they ordered had arrived. Fang Youqing also made a cold dish, bringing the total to six dishes—more than enough for the four of them.

During dinner, the conversation centered on the child.

Chen Yuan’s expertise was so impressive it even startled Aunt Liu.

As they talked, his professionalism became obvious, and even Aunt Liu ended up asking him for advice on a few things.

Chen Yuan didn’t waste the opportunity. He asked Fang Youqing and Aunt Liu about finding a live-in nanny, hoping to help Jiang Wanyi find a good one.

Unfortunately, neither of them had any good leads.

Back then, Fang Youqing had tried three nannies in a row, and none of them had worked out. She was about to give up when she finally found Aunt Liu.

He heard they had a distant connection—something like a friend of a friend or a relative of a relative.

"I’ve taken care of three children in my time, and all the experience I’ve gathered doesn’t even compare to Xiaochen’s," Aunt Liu said.

"You’re too kind, Aunt Liu."

"It’s not flattery. You’re genuinely skilled. I might have to ask you for advice if I run into any issues in the future."

"I’m happy to help anytime."

Chen Yuan replied with a smile, his gaze shifting to Zhao Wen Cheng.

’He has a huge appetite but is on the skinny side.’

Chen Yuan guessed it was likely indigestion or poor digestive health, which would prevent the boy from absorbing nutrients from his food.

Judging by Fang Youqing’s expression, she hadn’t realized this yet.

"Sister Qing, I heard from Xiaoning that the boy has a great appetite. He’ll eat anything you give him."

"He’s been like that since he was little. He can be a handful, but I’ve never had to worry about him not eating."

Fang Youqing sounded a little proud as she said this.

So many kids were picky eaters these days, so she was glad she didn’t have to worry about that like other parents.

Chen Yuan gathered his thoughts before speaking.

"I think he might be eating a little too much. It might be a good idea to control his portions a bit going forward."

"Why? Is there something wrong with his food?" Fang Youqing asked, her expression turning serious.

"The food is fine, but he’s eating a bit too much. Normally, a child who eats this much should be a bit chubbier, but he’s on the leaner side. Have you ever taken him to see a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine? Could it be a weak digestive system?"

Fang Youqing’s eyes widened in surprise. She never expected him to know about such things.

"No, I haven’t. But he is a bit thin compared to the other kids his age in our complex. He’s always so restless, though, so I just assumed he burns it all off and that’s why he’s not as chubby as the others."

"Did he have a big appetite when he was younger, too?"

"Yes. I was always afraid he wasn’t getting enough, so I’d feed him a little extra."

"It could be indigestion. You should take him to the hospital for a check-up when you have time. It’s best if it’s nothing, but if there is an issue, you’ll need to get it treated."

"Okay, I’ll take your advice. I’ll take him for a check-up tomorrow."

After dinner, Fang Youqing had Chen Yuan stay for a little longer. Before he left, she gave him a gift box of men’s grooming products.

After leaving Fang Youqing’s home, Chen Yuan and Fang Youning went back to campus.

They went their separate ways back to their dorms. Chen Yuan looked at the gift box from Fang Youqing.

The box was elegantly packaged and felt heavy in his hands.

Inside, he found facial cleanser, body wash, hand cream, and other similar items.

It was a domestic brand, but one Chen Yuan recognized. Jiang Wanyi used their facial cleanser, which he often borrowed. His skin always felt smooth after using it.

After washing up, Chen Yuan lay down. He had messages from Jiang Wanyi on his phone—all of them were photos of clothes she was picking out for a child.

Jiang Wanyi: "What do you think? Is this dress pretty?"

The dress was a traditional, classic style. It looked alright.

In Chen Yuan’s opinion, traditional-style dresses on their own were usually just average. Even seeing them in person, very few actually looked good. They were the kind of thing that only ever looked good in heavily edited photos—they tended to die in the light of day.

’Then again,’ he thought, ’if Jiang Wanyi were the one wearing it, that would be a different story. She has the natural looks to pull it off.’

The same went for Song Jianye and Fang Youning.

They were all in a league of their own when it came to looks.

Chen Yuan: "How much is it? Seems a bit wasteful if you’re just buying it for a photoshoot, doesn’t it? Dresses like that are usually pretty expensive."

Jiang Wanyi: "I’m not buying it, just wanted to show you. Maybe if we go traveling sometime. [smirking.jpg]"

Jiang Wanyi: "I bought another qipao, though. I’ll show it to you when I get back."

Chen Yuan: "[hehehe.jpg]"

He and Jiang Wanyi had already talked about the photoshoot. They planned to take some pictures outdoors and then some more intimate, at-home style ones.

Her regular loungewear wouldn’t quite cut it, though. They needed something to spice things up.

Jiang Wanyi: "[Image.jpg]"

Jiang Wanyi: "Do you know how to use this?"

The picture was of a Nikon camera.

Chen Yuan: "You have one of these at your place?"

Jiang Wanyi: "My cousin said he wanted to learn photography a few years ago, but he’s a bit of a flake. He gave up after a month. I can borrow it from him."

Chen Yuan: "Yeah, that’s perfect. OK."

...

「The next morning.」

He washed up and went to class, just like any other day. His first class was Engineering Drawing. He performed perfectly and was even praised by the professor.
