I Have a Destiny Dice
Chapter 64: Game Ascension
Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Game Ascension
"Feng Xingyun, have you made your decision?"
"My patience is limited!"
Chen Qi fixed his gaze on Feng Xingyun. The fluctuations from Najir’s direction were beginning to subside.
Clearly, the fusion was nearing completion.
There wasn’t much time for Feng Xingyun to dawdle.
"Fine, I’ll work with you!"
Facing Chen Qi’s icy stare, Feng Xingyun made his choice decisively, without making any demands.
He was well aware that he was in no position to bargain.
For him, as long as he was alive, there was still a chance.
Going after Felix might just be the turning point that would save his life.
Chen Qi was satisfied with Feng Xingyun’s good sense. Due to the deep connection between a Card and its user, if Feng Xingyun had refused to use his Superpower, Chen Qi would only have been able to control a mere physical body.
Now that he was cooperating, he could still be put to good use.
There was no time to waste. Having formed an alliance, the two of them immediately rushed toward Demon Dragon Plaza.
...
"Damn it. Those two actually teamed up."
"Felix, I need more time! I’m almost there!"
Felix had been broadcasting the entire fight between Chen Qi and Feng Xingyun. Najir’s hope that they would both end up grievously wounded was completely shattered. They had instead joined forces and were now coming for them.
"Don’t worry. I’ll deal with those two."
"You just focus on your fusion."
"The time is about right. Once your fusion is complete, I will send you to meet the Game Monarch."
Even though the situation was unexpected, Felix remained completely composed.
’They’re just two small fry rushing to their deaths.’
As long as he was in the Chaotic City, especially on the night of a full moon, he was invincible.
It would be the same even if an LV3 were to show up.
"The Game Monarch?"
"The big shot backing you is the Game Monarch?"
"That legendary player whose very existence is unconfirmed?"
Najir had finally gotten the information he wanted out of Felix.
However, the news was a bit too "stunning." If the Card’s fusion hadn’t been in its final stages, the dumbfounded Najir would have been in for a world of hurt.
It was no wonder Najir reacted so poorly; the Game Monarch was just that mysterious.
In the archives of the Order Keepers, there was the following passage:
"From the sixth round of the game onward, one player is always absent from every King’s Judgment!"
"Sometimes he is the Spade K, other times the Red Heart A. He can seemingly be any Card holder, with the exception of the King and Xiaowang."
"Everyone who has ever dealt with him calls him the Game Monarch!"
"Rumor has it that he’s a top-tier virtual game player from outside the Lanyu Kingdom who came here to experience the thrill of a ’real’ game."
That was all the information they had on the Game Monarch. All signs indicated that he was completely different from an ordinary game player.
Najir had never expected that the Game Monarch would want to meet him. He was, frankly, overwhelmed by the honor.
"Heh, so you’re not completely in the dark."
"But I’ll tell you this: the Game Monarch’s existence is far beyond anything you can imagine."
"Alright, hurry up and finish your fusion. I need to make some preparations of my own."
With a cryptic smile, Felix ended his chat with Najir.
He summoned a jade brush and began to paint with flourish once more.
Soon, he had rendered a lifelike Azure-headed Demon Dragon.
Curiously, though, the Demon Dragon’s eyes were blank—he had not painted them in.
"Let it begin!"
"Go!"
Felix spat out a mouthful of blood, and the Azure-headed Demon Dragon, as if receiving its first spark of life, merged into the graffiti around the plaza.
On closer inspection, one could see the Azure-headed Demon Dragon constantly weaving through the graffiti.
Wherever it passed, the brilliance of the graffiti would dim.
The Azure-headed Demon Dragon, in turn, would grow larger, its body adorned with new patterns.
As its domain expanded, its body grew more and more immense, and the markings upon it became ever more mysterious and complex.
Gradually, a colossal Giant Dragon began to weave through the Chaotic City, consuming and expelling some unknown substance.
"How terrifying... What in the world is that?"
"I can feel some horrifying presence awakening!"
"I think we’re just walking to our doom! We shouldn’t go any farther!"
As Chen Qi and his companion drew closer to Demon Dragon Plaza, they witnessed the Demon Dragon pass by.
The sheer immensity of the Azure-headed Demon Dragon, even if it was just a presence of Spiritual Charm, exerted a crushing force on both of their minds.
Feng Xingyun was nearly scared out of his wits, his entire body trembling uncontrollably.
Chen Qi, in contrast, was completely unfazed, as if he hadn’t felt the terrifying might at all.
"We definitely can’t turn back now."
"When that thing passed by just now, the Compass stopped working."
"You’re only afraid because you didn’t see the whole thing. You have no idea what it is!"
Chen Qi fiddled with the Compass. ’It was as if a living Geomagnetic Field just swam by,’ he mused. ’Truly an eye-opener!’
"What exactly was that thing that just passed by?"
Seeing that Chen Qi was unfazed, Feng Xingyun could only brace himself and press onward.
"A game dragon."
Chen Qi answered coolly, leaving Feng Xingyun completely baffled.
...
"The Demon Dragon Descends to Judge the world!"
"The great Azure-headed Demon Dragon once again descends on the night of the full moon! Let us cheer!"
The appearance of the Azure-headed Demon Dragon seemed to break a sleeping Curse that had been placed on everyone in the Chaotic City, waking them all at once.
Millions of people poured into the streets, singing, dancing, and bowing repeatedly toward the full moon.
The eerie part, however, was that their eyes were all squeezed shut. None of them were open.
The Azure-headed Demon Dragon was clearly roaming through the city, yet they were utterly oblivious, continuing to hail the Demon Dragon’s Descent to the empty sky.
It was a truly bizarre scene.
...
"Are these people insane?"
"There’s clearly nothing in the sky."
As he passed through the crowd, Feng Xingyun was overcome by the eerie atmosphere. For the first time, he felt a bone-deep chill in the wind.
"Or perhaps there really is something up there."
"We just can’t see it because we don’t belong to this city."
"’To paint a dragon, one must dot the eyes.’ The ritual hasn’t reached its final stage yet. We have to go kill Felix right now."
Chen Qi looked up at the sky, lost in thought. ’The full moon, the geomagnetism, the will of the people... All the elements are in place. The ’machine’ is about to activate.’
This immense creation, something Kolos could never comprehend, was something Chen Qi saw through to its true nature in a single glance now that he possessed the Compass and Nuclear Iron.
’My thanks to Yu Dongcheng,’ he thought, ’and to Dream Creation Studio.’
The Game Monarch had actually used the entirety of the Chaotic City as the ’material’ to build a gigantic virtual game login device.
Yet, precisely because he understood its true nature, the sense of magnificence and grandeur, of wonder and impossibility that Chen Qi felt, was a hundred times more intense than anything Kolos had ever perceived.
To think that a player this "terrifyingly brilliant" existed.
Chen Qi had an inkling as to the purpose of this login device, but the thought was simply too "daring"!
If his opponent was truly, as Chen Qi suspected, attempting a "Game Ascension," then the King’s Game was about to get really wild.
The title of Game Monarch was well and truly earned.
