Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Wind God Cannon

BOOM!

Another skyscraper was sliced in half. The falling structure descended toward the two combatants, only to be instantly diced into even smaller fragments.

WHOOSH! A fierce wind howled from the epicenter of the battle, kicking up endless dust.

"Too slow! You’re far too slow now!"

"Hahaha, you’re running out of steam, just as I thought."

"How disappointing!"

Feng Xingyun’s movement speed had already skyrocketed to 175 meters per second, and it seemed he could go even faster.

But Chen Qi, no matter how hard he tried, could go no faster.

If not for his reaction speed being slightly faster than Feng Xingyun’s, he would have already failed to intercept all the attacks.

’This is absolutely terrible.’

’Thirty seconds, at most. My stamina will only last for thirty seconds!’

’I have to end this fight within that time.’

Although this battle wasn’t as perilous as the previous one, the constant high-speed combat was far more taxing.

The slightest oversight, and what awaited either of them was being torn to pieces.

Chen Qi was certain Feng Xingyun wouldn’t give him a chance to physically recover; he would hack his head into smithereens instead.

’It’s about time. Time to end this fight.’

’Dragging this out would increase my odds of winning, but it would also give him a chance to turn the tables.’

"All Rivers Converge!"

Holding the advantage in speed, Feng Xingyun finally activated his finishing move.

WHOOSH! Suddenly, the sound of whimpering wind filled the battlefield.

Chen Qi’s intuition instantly screamed a warning, but the danger seemed to be everywhere, originating from the entire battlefield.

’Is he finally going to use his finishing move?’

’Too bad I’ve already calculated your weakness!’

’I’m betting on myself to win!’

Facing imminent danger, Chen Qi remained completely unfazed, intently focused on his final calculations.

The entire battlefield had transformed into an ocean of wind.

If one were to zoom out and look down upon the battlefield from above, a miraculous scene would unfold.

For several kilometers around the battlefield, hundreds, even thousands, of transparent fish swam through the wind.

At first, they merely drifted with the wind.

But gradually, they merged with the wind and began to guide the trajectory and direction of the airflow.

Controlled by some unknown force, these air currents began to converge and overlap, their force and speed continuously increasing.

As more fish gathered, the force of the wind they converged grew ever stronger.

The entire battlefield had become a raging, turbulent sea.

"Hahaha, you feel it now, don’t you!"

"But it’s too late!"

"I’m not like you LV2 trash. I am infinitely close to LV3."

"Feel the roar of the wind!"

At Feng Xingyun’s call, hundreds of fish appeared beneath his feet, bringing a furious gale with them.

Feng Xingyun rode the gale, his speed instantly increasing to 200 meters per second.

Although this borrowed power was temporary, even one second of it was enough for Feng Xingyun’s plan.

"Wind God Cannon!"

In Feng Xingyun’s hands, his massive Wind Weasel Scythe changed form, transforming into a long, thick cannon barrel.

The next moment, the thousands of transparent fish roaming the battlefield carried a vast hurricane with them as they funneled into the cannon barrel.

The moment they entered the barrel, the school of fish spun into a ring, compressing the surging hurricane into a massive, high-speed rotating Wind Pill.

Once fired, such a terrifying Wind Pill would shred not just a human body, but even a heavy tank to pieces.

"It’s over!"

Feng Xingyun’s current speed completely overwhelmed Chen Qi; there was no way for him to evade the massive cannon’s lock.

From the moment he began activating the Wind God Cannon, Feng Xingyun maintained a distance of 40 meters from Chen Qi.

Whatever tricks Chen Qi had up his sleeve, the effective range of an LV2 skill was only 30 meters.

He was sure to win!

BOOM!

The high-speed Wind Pill shot out at three times the speed of sound. The air along its path distorted as a vast beam of white light pierced through.

BOOM!

Three hundred meters away, a massive hole 20 meters in diameter was blasted straight through a skyscraper.

But this wasn’t the end; it was the beginning of a catastrophe.

The high-speed Wind Pill exploded, and a terrifying tornado formed inside the building.

The entire building was instantly obliterated, its remains rising into the sky as a plume of dust and debris.

Yet, despite this spectacular result, Feng Xingyun’s face was filled with shock, not excitement.

’I actually missed?’

’At the critical moment, why did my hand tremble?’

Utterly dumbfounded, Feng Xingyun seemed to forget he was in a battle, just hovering blankly in midair.

His opponent, the unscathed Chen Qi, was apparently a man of honor, showing no intention of taking a cheap shot.

"How magnificent!"

"So this is an attack on par with LV3?"

Gazing at the utterly destroyed skyscraper in the distance, Chen Qi was filled with awe.

The level of destruction caused by different Superpower users was truly worlds apart.

"Bastard, what the hell did you do to my body?"

"What is this thing running rampant inside me?"

THUD! Feng Xingyun crashed heavily to the ground.

At some unknown point, something had quietly taken root inside his body, interfering with his Superpower.

The culprit could be no one else. It had to be [Red Heart 7].

······

"Calm down, calm down. As long as I don’t give the command, that thing inside you won’t kill you."

"First, let’s talk about your [Wind God Cannon]."

"If I’m not mistaken, those transparent fish that guided the hurricane were created from scales that fell off your Fish Scale Armor."

"It’s normal for scales to break off in a fierce battle. That’s a very subtle trick."

"But they can still exist and guide the wind even after leaving your 30-meter effective range."

"That makes me very curious. I wonder if you’d be interested in telling me about it."

Chen Qi didn’t take the opportunity to kill Feng Xingyun. Instead, he started a discussion about Superpowers with him.

This left Feng Xingyun both startled and overjoyed. No matter what, another second of life was another second of life.

Since his opponent wanted to know, what was the harm in telling him?

"Actually, my Superpower development reached the LV3 level a long time ago."

"But I ran into trouble when I tried to awaken a Card to upgrade my Superpower."

"The Card’s Erosion was too powerful during the advancement to LV3. I couldn’t withstand it at all."

"If someone hadn’t helped me suppress the Card, I would have died during that advancement."

"I later learned that my advancement failed because my Spirituality wasn’t strong enough. It’s a problem every player encounters when trying to advance to LV3."

"The vast majority of new players get stuck here!"

"Even though the advancement was interrupted and failed, my Superpower underwent a slight Metamorphosis. My abilities can now persist for about ten minutes after leaving their effective range."

"The reason I came to Chaotic City this time was to repay a favor I owed."

Feng Xingyun held nothing back, telling Chen Qi everything he knew.

Chen Qi was lost in thought after hearing this. It seemed a player’s Superpowers underwent a fundamental Metamorphosis at LV3.

As for how he had controlled Feng Xingyun and made him miss at the critical moment, the principle wasn’t complex.

Chen Qi had merely sent three Puppet Threads completely into Feng Xingyun’s body, just as he had done before with Flette.

Back when his speed was first surpassed, Chen Qi had already realized he was in a [Passive] position.

So, he had attached three complete Puppet Threads to Feng Xingyun’s clothes.

Coincidentally, the only reason Chen Qi had succeeded without alerting Feng Xingyun was that scales were already damaged and falling off the Fish Scale Armor.

Otherwise, as soon as the Puppet Threads made contact with the scales, their powers would have clashed, and the trick would have been discovered.

And as long as the Puppet Threads didn’t invade a person’s body, they wouldn’t trigger Feng Xingyun’s Life Magnet Field.

It was safe to say that even before the tables turned, Chen Qi had already set his trap in place, just waiting for the right moment to spring it.

The truly difficult part was figuring out how to "silently" spring the trap and bypass Feng Xingyun’s Life Magnet Field to invade his body.

That step was precisely the most difficult part.
