Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Feng Xingyun

Chen Qi had always been very concerned about the "Card of Certain Death."

After all, Jomoya Chris had already set an example.

Although Chen Qi didn’t know the reason behind the Card of Certain Death, he had guessed at a few of the taboos surrounding the Red Heart 7.

There were three possible reasons why Jomoya died.

First, the fact that he possessed the Red Heart 7 was exposed.

Second, the Card’s abilities were exposed.

Third, he fused with other Cards and became a Traitor.

Analyzing Jomoya Chris alone didn’t reveal any clues.

But things got interesting when you factored in Ireland Zoff.

Since he had inherited the game character of Jomoya Chris, the first two conditions must have applied to him as well.

The only thing Ireland Zoff didn’t do was fuse with other Cards.

So he managed to live for over half a year, finally dying at the hands of the Firefox Gang.

Now, Chen Qi had also inherited the game character of Jomoya Chris. He hadn’t fused with any Cards, and he was still alive.

This led Chen Qi to suspect that the taboo of the Red Heart 7 was that you couldn’t fuse with other Cards.

Chen Qi’s intuition told him that his deduction was perfectly sound.

Of course, even if it weren’t for the Card of Certain Death, Chen Qi had no intention of fusing with Kolos’s Cards.

’I’m about to become an Order Keeper, only to turn around and join the enemy?’

’What would the Order Keeper faction, which just had to deal with the traitor Najir, think of that?’

’It would be a total slap in the face. They’d have to make an example of me to warn others.’

’The Demon Slaying Association wouldn’t likely accept ’a guy who kills his own people’ either.’

’No matter how I look at it, fusing Cards is a dead end.’

So Chen Qi could only watch with considerable regret as the two Cards disappeared.

He had only managed to glean a few minor benefits from the two Cards, gaining some insights by analogy.

’If I could have actually fused them, I’m sure I would’ve become incredibly strong, right?’

’I wonder what this so-called Apostle Armament even is?’

’So that old guy I met earlier was named Felix. That bastard is probably enjoying the show, gloating to himself right now, isn’t he?’

...

"That guy actually won. It’s unbelievable."

"To think Kolos would be killed by a rookie player!"

Even though he was busy fusing Cards, Najir still learned the result of the final battle.

He was left completely dumbfounded, unable to compose himself for a long time.

’That guy Kolos was no ordinary person. You could even say he was the most powerful player at LV2.’

’He’d killed two Order Keepers all by himself.’

’That’s why whenever we faced him, we’d all gang up on him. We never gave him an opportunity for a one-on-one fight.’

’And yet, now someone killed him single-handedly—a rookie who just became a player, no less.’

This made Najir feel like his three years in the game had been a complete waste.

"Interesting. This young man is quite something, indeed."

"His abilities must be a strong counter to Kolos’s, and he’s very good at hiding his true strength."

"His Card must have evolved, fused with some kind of Treasure!"

Felix’s eyes merely lit up at the abilities Chen Qi displayed; he didn’t find them particularly unbelievable.

Having a Card Devour a Treasure to gain other powers was no secret among High-level Players.

He had been fortunate enough to earn the favor of the Game Monarch, so his breadth of knowledge was far beyond that of any ordinary player.

"The other battle is about to be decided, too."

"Tsk, tsk. I’ll have to prepare some gifts for our two victors."

Felix wore a wicked grin. ’With a fight this brilliant, how could I not want to see a few more?’

...

BOOM!

In another corner of the city, with a huge roar, the battle was decided.

Feng Xingyun looked with disdain at his opponent, who had been crushed into a meat patty.

A massive handprint, more than ten meters wide, was now branded onto the once-smooth road.

In the center of the palm print, three Cards floated quietly.

This was what Jiru left behind after his death.

"Idiot. Power is about quality, not quantity. What’s the point of all that flashy nonsense?"

Feng Xingyun had no intention of becoming a Traitor, so he simply watched as the three Cards vanished.

Then again, he hadn’t joined the Order Keeper faction either. He didn’t like being tied down.

However, Feng Xingyun had indeed come this time at the request of a certain player from the Order Keepers.

’As for Jiru’s background, he was probably just a subordinate sent by some powerful player.’

’A piece of trash like him couldn’t possibly own that undamaged Compass.’

"So Red Heart Seven won?"

"Interesting. And here I thought I was going to miss it."

Feng Xingyun looked up and found that the pillar of light representing Kolos had actually disappeared.

’It was a little hard to believe, but that bastard Felix probably had no reason to fake something like this.’

’Should I go over and kill him?’

Feng Xingyun hesitated for a moment; he had heard of Kolos’s reputation.

’Anyone who can take down Kolos is someone who could probably take me down, too.’

Just as he was hesitating, the surrounding environment began to change.

The graffiti, originally damaged by the great battle, reappeared and reassembled, finally forming a screen.

What played on the screen was the battle scene between Chen Qi and Kolos.

And on Chen Qi’s end, the same thing was happening, playing the course of the battle between Feng Xingyun and Jiru.

...

"Damn, that old bastard Felix is just so considerate."

"Does he really think we’re all idiots?"

Chen Qi almost laughed in anger at Felix’s stunt.

Although he didn’t want to clash with Feng Xingyun, he had to immediately start recovering his body and adjusting his combat readiness.

From beginning to end, Chen Qi hadn’t moved far.

The disturbances from Najir’s direction didn’t interest him in the slightest.

By remaining still, he was making his attitude clear.

As long as Feng Xingyun wasn’t an idiot, he would understand.

However, 15 minutes later, Feng Xingyun still appeared.

...

"Why?"

"You should know full well what I meant!"

Chen Qi casually tossed aside the mineral water bottle in his hand. What he’d needed to replenish most was his fluids.

Of course, he had also finished off the two boxes of Soldier’s Rations Pills he’d brought.

Now fed and hydrated, he had managed to recover to seventy percent of his peak physical condition.

It might not have been his peak, but compared to his previous wretched state, it was a testament to his terrifying powers of recovery.

"I know about your mission, and I know you don’t intend to fight me for the Cards."

"Logically speaking, I should kill Najir and Felix first."

"But I’m afraid that if I miss this window, you’ll fully recover, and then I won’t be able to kill you."

"Now is the best chance to kill you."

Feng Xingyun’s expression was dead serious. Clearly, these were his true thoughts.

"Why are you so obsessed with killing me?"

Chen Qi was completely baffled. ’Where is all this hatred coming from?’

"It’s not you I want to kill, but Jomoya Chris. But I guess there’s no difference, since you’re him now."

"That bastard killed Plum Blossom 2, a very good friend of mine."

Feng Xingyun’s words left Chen Qi speechless. ’Is this what they call being caught in the crossfire?’

’Jomoya Chris, you really left me to take the fall for a lot of things.’

’Ireland Zoff was right. You totally had it coming.’
