I Have a Destiny Dice
Chapter 54: Game Monarch
Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Game Monarch
’Strange, the sensation is gone!’
’What on earth did Najir just do?’
In the west district of the Chaotic City, Kolos and the other two players stood watch from afar.
Just a moment ago, a peculiar fluctuation had spread throughout the entire city.
This fluctuation could only be perceived by players. It was clearly the aftershock produced by two Cards devouring each other.
But there was no way Najir’s Devour process could be this fast.
Normally, it was only in the final stage of the Devour, when the Card being consumed awakened and the two Cards began their final struggle, that the resulting fluctuations would become impossible to hide.
Although they didn’t know what had happened to Najir, it had indeed given them a chance to lock onto his position.
Unfortunately, they were a bit too slow and couldn’t pinpoint his exact location before the sensation vanished completely.
The west district was huge; finding him wouldn’t be easy.
But this didn’t make the three give up in the slightest. It was still better than searching for a needle in a haystack as they had been before.
Yet, despite using all their methods and searching for the entire night, they still couldn’t find any trace of Najir.
...
"You can actually seal my Life Magnet Field?"
Inside the art studio, Najir stood in the center of a circle, his face filled with astonishment.
Just a moment ago, his use of an ability had caused the aftershocks from the two Cards’ Devour process to radiate outward.
Although he had gotten it under control immediately, it had still pointed his enemies in the right direction.
Among those three, there were definitely some who could detect Life Magnet Fields, and Najir was suddenly overcome with worry.
Felix’s Life Magnet Field was only at the level of an ordinary person, but his own was far too conspicuous.
With just a bit of bad luck, he would be discovered.
Yet Felix had solved everything just by drawing a circle on the ground.
...
"As long as you don’t step outside this circle, they won’t be able to find you!"
"I’ve used Spiritual Charm to conceal your Life Magnet Field. With their limited means, they won’t be able to see through it."
From beginning to end, Felix was completely calm.
Through the probing attack earlier, he had already seen through the ability types of the other players.
’Tonight’s little show can finally come to an end.’
...
’Is that it? Is the fight over?’
At Demon Dragon Plaza, Chen Qi waited for a long time, but the soldiers in Exoskeleton Armor never reappeared.
The entire Chaotic City had returned to tranquility, as if the great battle from before had been nothing but an illusion.
’It seems tonight’s battle really is over.’
’What a shame!’
Chen Qi felt a pang of regret. He had wanted to get his hands on a few more sets of Exoskeleton Armor to dismantle.
Now, the only one that remained fully intact was the one from the soldier he had killed.
As the moonlight continued its westward shift, Kolos’s group of three was busy with their massive search, while Chen Qi was busy dismantling the Exoskeleton Armor. They had a tacit understanding, each staying out of the other’s way.
This calm lasted until dawn, when daylight arrived in the Chaotic City.
But the daytime clamor of the city did not sway the minds of the four players. They steadfastly continued with their own tasks, waiting for that moment to arrive.
Three in the afternoon. This was the 48-hour deadline.
The minutes ticked by, and the clock finally struck three.
During this time, everything was calm. The fluctuation from the Devour that was supposed to appear never did.
Chen Qi was calm, and Kolos’s group of three was also very calm.
They had already figured it all out. With the death of [Red Heart 5], Najir must have made a move.
The Card’s Devour had been delayed, so naturally, they weren’t in a hurry.
Four hours later, the Sun set, and the Moon appeared.
The atmosphere of the entire city suddenly changed.
Perhaps the residents of the Chaotic City couldn’t feel it, but Chen Qi and the other three players all felt a suppressive pressure.
Yet, no matter how they investigated, they still couldn’t lock onto the source of this pressure. It seemed to be everywhere and nowhere at once.
As time went on, this sense of suppression grew thicker, almost to the point of becoming tangible.
If not for the fact that all four of them had an ace up their sleeve, they probably would have given up and retreated long ago.
’I feel like I don’t belong in this city!’
’The air in the city feels like it’s turned into a thick gel. Everyone else is like a fish in water, but I’m being squeezed like a piece of gravel!’
Chen Qi analyzed and summarized his feelings. He was confident that this was some kind of city-wide change and not something targeting him personally.
But that oppressive, suffocating feeling was just too real.
The moment it reached a certain limit, Chen Qi considered leaving the city.
But in the next instant, all the pressure vanished without a trace, as if it had all been an illusion.
STATIC!
Chen Qi’s smart communicator was hit with interference and suddenly lost its network connection.
He tried to call Leiteri and the others outside the city, but the call failed to connect.
’Has the city been locked down?’
’No, the Chaotic City’s Geomagnetic Field has changed, and it’s interfering with electromagnetic waves!’
The layout of the entire city flashed through Chen Qi’s mind. The second part of his theory had been confirmed.
The mastermind behind the scenes had indeed tampered with the Chaotic City’s Geomagnetic Field.
The pressure he had felt just now must have been the Geomagnetic Field changing.
Players, due to their powerful Life Magnet Fields, felt it that much more intensely.
Now that the Geomagnetic Field was operating in its new state, Chen Qi, being inside it, could no longer feel that pressure.
Unfortunately, this was all Chen Qi could deduce.
He was only able to determine that the Geomagnetic Field had changed because the Biological Radar on his wrist had been fried.
’Fortunately, as long as my ability is intact, it can be restored.’
...
"Incredible. Truly incredible!"
"The operation of the entire city’s Geomagnetic Field has formed a closed loop!"
"To be more precise, the Chaotic City’s Geomagnetic Field has been severed from the natural field, forming an independent system."
"How could such a massive project be accomplished so silently?"
Jiru’s eyes were vacant as he muttered to himself.
Although he had long known that some changes would occur in the Chaotic City on the night of the full moon, he had never expected them to be this terrifying.
The reason he could detect all this was because of a Compass he held in his hand.
It had been given to him by the powerful figure backing him, to be used for recording certain data.
It hadn’t shown any changes before, but it unexpectedly activated at this very moment.
If that person hadn’t informed him that his opponents would only be Level 2 players, he would have bolted long ago.
...
’Such divine workmanship... a creation worthy of a Celestial Human!’
’To control the Life Magnet Fields of millions to form an array, and then use that immense Life Magnet Field to leverage the forces of Heaven and Earth!’
’Is this the legendary Game Monarch?’
Atop the city’s tallest tower, Kolos’s eyes were tightly shut, yet it was as if he could see straight through all the changes in the Chaotic City.
This stemmed from an ability he possessed that allowed him to directly perceive Life Magnet Fields.
This was also the reason he could detect other players from a great distance.
Within 150 meters, a player’s Life Magnet Field was like a blazing torch in his perception.
And it was precisely this ability that allowed him to see the changes in the Chaotic City more clearly than anyone else.
The moment the Moon appeared, everyone in the Chaotic City once again fell into a deep hypnosis.
Only this time, the command given to them wasn’t to fight, but to take their positions.
They were merely following some kind of instinct, appearing at specific locations.
This might seem insignificant.
But when the number was scaled up to the millions, it was as if someone had turned the entire Chaotic City into a chessboard, with millions of pieces being controlled as easily as one’s own limbs.
The Life Magnet Field of any ordinary person is extremely weak.
Their interference with the surrounding natural field is negligible.
However, what if that tiny bit of interference could be continuously superimposed in some ingenious way?
The Life Magnet Fields of over two million people, superimposed together—what a terrifying power that was.
Their interference with the natural field would be enough to trigger a super magnetic storm.
But if that were all, it would be too crude and would quickly be smoothed out by the vast natural field.
The mastermind behind the layout of Tulun City, however, had turned each person’s Life Magnet Field into a single component. With two million components, they had constructed an incomparably exquisite machine.
Kolos didn’t know what this colossal machine was for; that was beyond his ability to comprehend or spy upon.
He had merely perceived the changes in the array of Life Magnet Fields and was already shaken to his core.
If he hadn’t requested aid from his association and been told a few inside details, he would have fled for his life long ago.
Even so, after truly witnessing all this, his mental defenses nearly broke.
To control a city, its inhabitants, and the Bright Moon all in the palm of one’s hand.
’Is this the Wisdom and power possessed by those who stand at the very pinnacle of all players?’
’The gap is truly despairing!’
