Chapter 37: Chapter 37: The Golden Dragon Clan Was Flooded

"Ali’s condition is too fragile to move her right now. I have a way to make her sweat out the fever. If you’re worried, you can have the White Tiger Clan’s doctor come to the Golden Dragon Clan," Ophelia suggested. "She’s still running a fever. If you take her outside and expose her to the wind, she’ll likely get much worse."

Klein calmly analyzed the situation and eventually compromised.

"All right." Turning his head, he instructed a male beastman beside him, "Go back to the White Tiger Clan and bring the doctor."

Ophelia went to the kitchen. Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, she took out a portion of the scallions and ginger from her spatial dimension, boiled them in a pot of water, and added a pinch of salt.

In just half a day, Ali was already showing signs that her fever was breaking. By evening, she slowly woke up, her complexion looking much rosier.

Seeing that the scallions and ginger were truly effective, Ophelia proceeded to plant the vacant 100 square meters in her dimension. This time, she only planted ten bags each of scallion and ginger seeds.

"Brother, am I still alive?" Ali’s voice was hoarse and weak.

Klein was so exasperated by her silly words that he let out a laugh. He poked her forehead in mild annoyance. "You’re alive."

Ophelia watched them with a soft smile, feeling a wave of relief. She had finally saved the girl.

Once Klein ensured that Ali was completely fine, he finally turned his attention to Ophelia.

"Ophelia, thank you for saving Ali," he said. He took a token out of the beast-hide pouch at his waist and handed it to her. "This is our White Tiger Clan’s White Tiger Token. If you ever need anything in the future, you can use this token to find me, and I will fulfill one request for you."

Ophelia didn’t stand on ceremony. She took the token and rubbed it in her palm, noting the three large characters for ’White Tiger Token’ clearly engraved on it. Furthermore, she realized the token was made of iron. Iron ore was very rare in the Beast World, and successfully refined ironware was even rarer. It was evident just how precious this White Tiger Token was.

Two days later.

Shouts of alarm from the male beastmen rang out from outside the tribe. "Oh no, the tribe is flooded!"

The rain was growing heavier. A once-small ravine had widened considerably, its width now expanding to the size of a sturdy tree trunk. Meanwhile, the low-lying areas of the Golden Dragon Clan had already accumulated a significant amount of water. If this continued, it would only be a matter of time before the clan was completely submerged by the rainwater.

Seeing this, Ophelia grabbed the crude cowhide umbrella she had fashioned herself and rushed out into the rain. Tyler hurried to follow her.

Ophelia made her way to the Golden Dragon Clan’s council hall, which was already filled with quite a few people. The Clan Leader of the Golden Dragon Clan, Leon, was discussing how to solve the issue of the low-lying accumulated water with the tribe’s elders.

"Clan Leader, right now, our only option is to send the males out to dig trenches and drain the accumulated water," someone suggested.

"But the area surrounding the Golden Dragon Clan is entirely flatland. Where can we drain this water?"

The elders’ opinions were divided, and the meeting quickly fell into a stalemate.

"Father, we should move the clansmen up the mountain as soon as possible," Laxus said.

The Great Elder stroked his white beard, disagreeing. "Relocating the tribe is no small matter. It’s pouring rain outside right now. If we move them rashly, what if the young females get soaked and fall ill?"

"He’s right. Ali from the White Tiger Clan was caught in the rain and was sick for days. She nearly lost her life."

"Moreover, there are already a few young females in our tribe who couldn’t withstand the sudden drop in temperature and have fallen ill."

Several other tribal elders debated the pros and cons. Everyone genuinely had the tribe’s best interests at heart, so it was perfectly normal to have such concerns.

Ophelia, however, felt that rather than sitting around waiting for death, it was better to take a risk and try.

"Ali has already fully recovered after drinking the ginger soup I brewed," she spoke up, her voice steady and commanding. "As long as we keep everyone warm and make sure they drink ginger soup promptly, we can minimize the chances of anyone getting sick. Rather than waiting until the tribe is flooded and everyone falls ill, we’re better off taking a chance right now."

"All right, we will follow Ophelia’s advice and take the risk!" Leon declared.

Laxus had sent people ahead to the stone houses on the mountain to boil ginger soup. The moment the young females arrived at the stone houses, they immediately changed out of their soaked animal skins, and each was promptly handed a bowl of ginger soup. The first pot quickly emptied. As a safety precaution, the males were also required to drink it.

Klein stood behind Ophelia and asked, "Are you sure these young females will be all right?"

"I’m not certain, but if we didn’t try, we’d just be trapped in the tribe and drown." Ophelia then glanced at Ali, who was trailing behind her. "Ali, you’ve just recovered. You need to keep drinking the ginger soup for a few more days."

"Aw, do I have to? The ginger soup tastes gross, and it’s so spicy." Now that she was healthy again, Ali had begun to loathe the drink.

That was when Ophelia remembered that the ginger soup she used to drink in her past life always had sugar added to it. But where could she find sugar now?

She suddenly realized that she could plant sugarcane and pears. Sugarcane could be boiled down into brown sugar, while pears were naturally sweet. They could be boiled and added to the ginger soup, or made into pear soup to soothe everyone’s throats.

Ophelia asked Tyler and Klein to finish boiling the rest of the ginger soup while she found a secluded spot to send her consciousness into her spatial dimension.

As soon as she entered, she discovered that the crops like scallions and ginger had matured, yet they remained perfectly intact, still growing in the soil. She found it slightly strange, but upon closer inspection, she realized her warehouse’s 5,000-unit storage capacity was full. To harvest the scallions, ginger, and other crops into the warehouse, she would need to expand its capacity.

She hadn’t anticipated growing so many things before, so she had never upgraded it. Now, it seemed necessary to upgrade the warehouse to Level 5. Upgrading to Level 4 had cost 3,000 points, while Level 5 required 20,000 points. Ophelia checked her balance, which stood at 29,400 points. Gritting her teeth, she spent the points and expanded the warehouse’s capacity to 50,000 units.

The second batch, containing ten bags of scallions and ginger each, had also matured. She now had over a thousand pounds of scallions, ginger, and various other crops on hand—more than enough to last the entire rainy season. The 350-square-meter plot of land was also completely cleared out.

She checked the store interface.

Golden Sugarcane Seedlings: 30 points. Level 1. Maturation time: 88 hours. Area required: 10 square meters. Yield: 100 stalks of sugarcane.

Golden Pear: 30 points. Level 1. Maturation time: 88 hours. Area required: 10 square meters. Yield: 100 pears.

Thus, she spent 1,050 points to purchase 30 bags of Golden Sugarcane seeds and 5 bags of Golden Pear seeds. After planting them, they would take four to five days to mature.

Back in the real world, Klein was carrying a bowl of ginger soup and chasing after Ali, who was dodging and weaving through the cluttered stone house. "Drink it!"

"Brother, I think I’m completely cured, really. You should save the ginger soup for the young females of the Golden Dragon Clan. They need it more than I do."

With that, Ali tried to bolt without looking back. She hadn’t even taken two steps before Klein quickly closed the distance, grabbed the scruff of her neck, and yanked her back.

"Ah! Brother, ow, ow, ow!" Ali yelped.

"Drink it, or you’re not going anywhere." Klein offered the ginger soup once again.

Ali had no choice but to resign herself to her fate. She cradled the bowl of ginger soup and, under her brother’s icy glare, forced it down with a grimace. Only after she had swallowed every last drop did she regain her freedom. Having just finished the spicy soup, Ali let out an uncomfortable, full-body shudder.

That night, Ophelia had the clansmen find a large, thick animal skin and hang it behind the stone house’s door, creating a double layer of insulation against the wind. A fire was kept burning in the center of the room, allowing everyone to spend the night in a warm environment so they wouldn’t fall ill.

The clansmen, exhausted from a long day’s work, fell into a deep slumber. However, a few male beastmen lay wide awake. They occasionally let out soft groans. Even though they tried to suppress the noise, it still managed to disturb some of the lighter sleepers.

The next morning.

"Viner, what were you groaning about last night? Are you going to let anyone sleep or what!"
