I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me

Chapter 137: When Will You Partner Up With Our Ali?

  • Next Chapter

Outside the single stone house of the Fuzu Tribe, several young females were chattering, covering their mouths and snickering at the young couple in front of them.

“Laxus, Ali isn’t sick. She’s just blushing.”

“Yeah, Laxus! When are you going to become mates with our Ali?” the young females chimed in one after another.

Their baffling words left Laxus completely confused.

Ali’s cheeks were red as she stole glances at Laxus, a hint of expectation bubbling in her heart. But Laxus just scratched his head, looking bewildered. “Why would I become mates with Ali?”

Hearing him say this, Ali’s pounding heart instantly sank.

“Ah? If you don’t want to become mates with Ali, then why do you take such good care of her?”

Laxus blinked in confusion. “She hurt her foot because of me. Isn’t it only right that I take care of her?”

At his explanation, the blush drained from Ali’s cheeks, leaving her face deathly pale.

“Is that really the only reason?” one of the females asked, refusing to give up despite seeing Ali’s pale face.

“Of course not,” Laxus replied, turning to Ali. “My mother took you in as her goddaughter, which naturally makes me your brother. Isn’t it my duty to take care of you?”

Ali’s expression turned even uglier upon hearing this. She pushed Laxus away, fuming with anger. “I already have a brother! Who cares about you being my brother!

“Go away. Just leave! I never want to see you again!”

With that, she stomped hard on Laxus’s foot, turned around, and ran back into the stone house. Laxus stood frozen in place, utterly baffled.

The other young females sighed at the sight. Realizing that Laxus truly had no romantic intentions, they didn’t dare say another word and dispersed.

Laxus walked up to Ali’s stone house and knocked on the wooden door. His voice was clear and earnest. “Ali, did I do something wrong to make you angry? But even if you’re mad, you can’t just skip meals.

“If I made a mistake, tell me, and I’ll apologize.”

Leaning against the door from the inside, Ali scoffed coldly. “Go away! I don’t need your fake kindness.”

Seeing that Ali genuinely had no intention of opening the door, Laxus sighed and placed the roasted rabbit meat he was holding on the ground.

“This is the rabbit meat you wanted. I’ll leave it at the door. Remember to eat it when you get hungry.”

With that said, he turned and left. Only when his footsteps faded away did Ali finally open the door. Looking at the roasted meat in the Stone Bowl on the ground, Ali’s eyes gradually grew red.

She wondered why he was still so good to her if he didn’t even like her.

By the time he reached the tribe’s entrance, Laxus still couldn’t figure out why Ali was angry. His brows knitted in a deep frown. After a moment of thought, he turned around and headed toward the third floor where Ophelia lived.

At that moment, Ophelia was outside sunbathing with her three little dragon cubs. Catching their uncle’s scent, the three cubs happily trotted over to him.

Looking at his three nephews, Laxus squatted down and happily gathered them into his arms. “I haven’t seen you in a few days, and you’ve already grown so plump,” he chuckled.

Laxus was right. In just over ten days, the dragon cubs had grown noticeably larger, now reaching Ophelia’s knees. In a few more days, the cubs would be one month old. Once they reached their one-month milestone, they would be able to transform into their human forms.

To prevent the secret of them being Winged Dragon Beasts from leaking out, the three little ones had been restricted to playing near the stone house. Once they could take on human forms, Ophelia would be able to carry them around the tribe to play. Furthermore, when the dragon cubs reached their one-month mark, a birth ceremony would be held. Tribe members from nearby would be invited to attend and pray for the cubs’ healthy and vigorous growth.

“Laxus, why are you here? Is something wrong?” Ophelia tilted her head, looking at her brother.

Laxus wore a bewildered expression. After hesitating repeatedly, he finally spoke. “Ophelia, I think I made Ali angry.”

“You made her angry? What did you do?” Ophelia asked in surprise. With Ali’s angelic temperament, it was shocking to hear she was mad. Ophelia was dying to know exactly what Laxus had done.

“I don’t know! Yesterday she said she wanted to eat rabbit meat, so I went out first thing this morning to hunt one and bring it to her.

“But we barely exchanged a few words before she got mad.

“I can’t figure it out at all, so I came to ask you,” Laxus said, looking thoroughly distressed.

“You didn’t do anything? Tell me exactly what happened just now from the beginning, and let me sort this out.”

Ophelia knew Laxus could be quite dense when it came to reading the room. Plus, Laxus and Ali were in a rather delicate stage of their relationship right now. She didn’t want Laxus to miss out on a good match over a trivial misunderstanding.

So, Laxus recounted the entire incident exactly as it had unfolded. He didn’t even leave out the teasing remarks made by the young females.

Listening to his story, Ophelia pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling a headache coming on. “Laxus, how do you actually feel about Ali?”

Laxus looked dazed. “Ali is the goddaughter Mother took in. In my heart, she’s the same as you. Is there something wrong with that?”

Seeing the absolute sincerity on Laxus’s face, Ophelia was left completely speechless. She genuinely didn’t know how to help her brother. If Laxus truly didn’t harbor any romantic feelings, there was no need for her to force the issue and try to push them together.

“I can’t explain this, and I can’t help you either. You have to figure it out for yourself.”

In the end, Laxus still hadn’t figured out why Ali was angry, and he could only leave the Fuzu Tribe in dejection.

After Laxus left, Ophelia still felt somewhat uneasy. So, she asked Tyler to look after the three dragon cubs and headed to the single females’ dormitory herself.

Inside the dorm, Ali stared at the roasted rabbit meat on the table, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face.

“Ali, are you in there?” Ophelia asked, knocking on the door.

The next second, the door opened, and a slender figure threw herself into Ophelia’s arms.

“Ophelia,” Ali sobbed, her voice hoarse and full of grievance.

Seeing Ali crying so heartbreakingly, Ophelia gently patted her head to comfort her. “Laxus told me everything. Don’t blame him. He’s just like that—clumsy with his words and terrible at coaxing females.”

“Hmph, he’s more than just clumsy.”

Ophelia led Ali to a chair, sat her down, and used a handkerchief to wipe away her tears. “Don’t cry. A female’s tears are precious. No matter what happens, you shouldn’t shed them so easily.”

“Ophelia…” Ali felt touched, yet still somewhat heartbroken. She had finally fallen for a male, but he only saw her as a sister.

Once Ali stopped crying, Ophelia cautiously brought up the topic. “Ali, how do you really feel about Laxus?”

Ali bit her lip. “He’s a big idiot! Whoever ends up as his mate in the future will be so unlucky!”

Ophelia smiled. “So, does that mean you like him?”

“I… I do like him.

“Ophelia, I really do like Laxus, but it seems he only sees me as a younger sister.”

Ophelia raised an eyebrow. “That might not be true. What does he really feel? Why don’t we test him out?”

Ali tilted her head in confusion. “Test him? How?”
