Chapter 995: Chapter 355: Salvation Society

It’s been five months since the Spiritual Energy Resurrection.

In these five months, tremendous changes have occurred globally.

Not only animals and plants but humans as well have been affected by the resurrection of spiritual energy, resulting in mutations and ability awakenings.

The entire planet has expanded to more than ten thousand times its previous size due to the Spiritual Energy Resurrection.

Humans have drastically reduced in number due to the survival competition, but those who survived are the elites from all sides.

The scene shifts back to the land,

In a lush and dense forest of vegetation, stands an imposing and magnificent monumental city.

Its scale nearly surpasses that of any known city, roughly estimated to be as massive as an entire former landmass.

Numerous enormous buildings tower within, either hidden among white clouds or exposed under the blazing sunlight.

Constructed of uniform gray-white stone, occasionally interspersed with greenish tones.

Pristine, vibrant.

These two distinctly different colors and feelings meld together, seemingly defining the tone of this city.

The city is called the City of Dawn.

It was painstakingly built by an Awakened named Guan Shan and is the largest remaining shelter for humankind.

At the very center of the City of Dawn, there is a cloud-piercing stone tower.

From here, the entirety of the City of Dawn can be seen.

At this moment, two figures are standing at the highest point of the stone tower.

One of them wears an outfit resembling a priest, a middle-aged man dressed in a white robe with gold trimmings, of moderate height, looking ordinary.

Behind him, he carries a golden cross, taller than him, appearing heavy and substantial.

The other is a young man in his twenties, dressed in knight armor, with a giant sword rammed into the ground, his hands leaning on its hilt.

“Have the people from the Eastern Continent arrived?”

The middle-aged priest’s gentle voice echoes as he gazes into the far reaches of the City of Dawn.

That area is a dense jungle.

Since the Resurrection of Spiritual Energy, vegetation has wildly proliferated, not only the mutated plants but ordinary ones as well.

Even near the City of Dawn, it’s far from a synonym for safety.

In the unseen shadows, it’s unknown how many enemies are lurking and watching.

In the grove the middle-aged priest’s gaze falls upon, it’s silent with occasional simultaneous trembling of large trees, as if some gigantic creature is hidden within.

“Judging by the time, they should be arriving soon.” The young Giant Sword Knight replied.

“I hope this time, we can discard the differences of the old era and work together to survive in the era of Spiritual Energy Resurrection.”

The middle-aged priest gave no definite response to the young Giant Sword Knight’s statement.

“I heard many survivors have come from the Eastern Continent this time.”

“That’s right, compared to the Western Continent, more Awakened from the Eastern Continent have survived. It is said… because of that man.”

“Within five months, he wiped out over half of the Mutant Beasts in the Eastern Continent, his power… truly terrifying.”

If we use the situation on the Western Continent to equally compare to the Eastern Continent, the number of Mutant Beasts is at least in the tens of thousands, or even more.

Moreover, they grow rapidly through mutual slaughter and consumption, akin to raising Gu.

If one’s growth and strength can’t keep up, or if severely injured in encounters with Exotic Beasts, they might become dejected.

The frequency of battles, the intensity, one’s strength, and growth planning are all long-term and complex issues.

But from the intelligence they’ve gathered, it seems the most powerful being on the Eastern Continent has no concerns in these aspects whatsoever.

His growth journey simply involves killing monsters, growing stronger, killing monsters, growing stronger… and so forth.

“Perhaps it’s just a Buzzword.”

“You know, there are so many who want to join the Salvation Society, each claiming to be strong, invincible, a once-in-a-century genius, extraordinarily gifted, just to raise their stature.”

“The threshold of the Salvation Society shouldn’t be that low, at least, we can’t allow these braggarts to join and make up the numbers.”

The middle-aged priest said calmly.

His words gave the preceding Giant Sword Knight something to ponder.

“Is that why you set such trials outside the City of Dawn, to select and exclude those who don’t meet the criteria?”

The young Giant Sword Knight paused here, “Isn’t that too cruel?”

“You know, failing the trial means they would pay with their lives.”

“Weakness is a sin in itself, if in the name of slaughter, we can find the true Savior for the Salvation Society, I am willing to bear such sins.”

“…”

Their conversation just ended.

Suddenly, in the dense forest where the middle-aged priest’s gaze previously fell, a few tiny black dots emerged.

They are humans!

Judging by their skin color and attire, they are clearly not from the Western Continent; their identities are unmistakable.

Survivors from the Eastern Continent!

The leader is dragging a mutated giant lion single-handedly; such a massive body seems weightless in his hand.

The enormous corpse is dragged across the forest, plowing out a long trench.

In the newcomer’s other hand, he holds a basketball-sized fresh red heart.

He casually takes a bite, blood splattering everywhere.

Looking up, his gaze seems to traverse great distances of the City of Dawn, meeting those at the central stone tower.

“When?!

“Why is there no movement in the forest or signs of battle waves?!

“Is he eating that mutated lion’s heart? Can such a thing really be eaten raw, is he human or an Exotic Beast?!

The young Giant Sword Knight was watching this scene, seemingly having all previous knowledge utterly overturned, revealing amazement and shock in his eyes.

The middle-aged priest’s expression was much more composed.

He lifted the golden cross necklace hanging around his neck with both hands, gently kissed it.

“Let’s go.”

“Let us welcome the new members of the Salvation Society.”

“Maybe, perhaps the future true lord of the Salvation Society, the Savior.”

“God says, move forward unburdened.”

As soon as the middle-aged priest finished speaking, he and the Giant Sword Knight’s figures vanished from the tower.

When they reappeared, they had already arrived before the line of survivors emerging from the dense forest.

If earlier, from such a distant distance, they could only feel a slight pressure, now, face to face, they felt a tremendous and intense might.

As if confronting not an Awakened human but a powerful Mutated Blood Beast!

This strong aura made their bodies tremble slightly, beyond control, and made them instinctively lower their gaze, unable to meet the eyes.

The middle-aged priest knew this was the other’s “gift” for the Exotic Beast traps left in the forest.

He quietly endured the pain without speaking.

After a while, when the pressure dissipated, they finally breathed a sigh of relief as if a mountain had been lifted off them.

“Great Xia, Han Zhan.”

The leader among the Eastern Continent survivors spoke softly.

“Western Continent, Adam.”

The middle-aged priest raised his head, smiling warmly as he spoke.
