Chapter 991: Chapter 351: White Wolf

The apocalypse is coming.

The first priority is to arm oneself, then find food and secure a shelter.

This line of thinking is quite reasonable.

Jiang Lingling nodded slightly, didn’t say anything, and continued leading Han Zhan, weaving through the hotel.

At this moment, the sounds in the hotel became noticeably more chaotic, occasionally mixed with the sharp screams of women and fierce roars.

Upon hearing these sounds, Han Zhan and Jiang Lingling exchanged a glance and quickened their pace.

Time was running short, and there wasn’t much left for them.

Fortunately, the place where the food was stored was not far away, and when they arrived, two chefs in chef uniforms were already at the door of the storage room.

These two chefs wore white chef coats, one fat and one thin, the thin one was short and swarthy-looking, while the fat one was over six feet tall, resembling a sturdy iron tower from afar.

Han Zhan saw them, and they also saw Han Zhan and Jiang Lingling.

The thin chef smiled as he greeted Jiang Lingling:

“President Jiang, you’re here.”

“Hmm.” Jiang Lingling responded calmly.

“We were just about to transport vegetables to the front kitchen.”

The thin chef pointed to the cart behind him, which was indeed piled high with food.

After greeting Jiang Lingling, the thin chef walked ahead, while the fat chef pushed the cart behind, heading out of the storage room.

When the two passed by Han Zhan and Jiang Lingling, because of the limited width of the passageway, they were forced to separate and press against the sides.

At this moment, Han Zhan suddenly shouted:

“Watch out!”

Upon hearing the voice, Jiang Lingling reacted instantly, raising the defense baton she had been holding tightly.

The fat chef, as large as an iron tower, suddenly pulled out a gleaming kitchen knife from the pile of food on the cart, chopping towards Jiang Lingling.

Clang~!

The kitchen knife was precisely blocked by the defense baton; the fat chef, being an adult male and a chef, had considerable strength.

However, Jiang Lingling did not choose to confront him head-on but used a clever force to change the downward chopping path of the kitchen knife.

The deviated kitchen knife ultimately slashed onto the fat chef’s own thigh, causing him to scream like a slaughtered pig.

On the other side, after shouting that warning, Han Zhan had already picked up a ballistic shield and moved close to the thin chef.

With sudden exertion, the thin chef couldn’t even pull out the hidden knife behind him before being pressed against the wall by Han Zhan, emitting a muffled thud.

“You guys…”

The thin chef glanced sideways, the fat chef’s leg bleeding profusely as he kneeled to the ground, writhing in pain.

His eyelid twitched, a flash of lecherous regret passing through his eyes.

“How did you find out.”

“Find out? Does this even need discovering? Isn’t it obvious?”

Han Zhan scoffed.

“Seeing us dressed so strangely, normally people would be curious, right? Yet you weren’t surprised at all.”

“Moreover, when we first arrived here, you were holding smartphones, clearly checking information online.”

“With the chaos outside, you coming to the storage room early to stock up food is understandable. But facing us, your behavior was overly deliberate; who would believe you don’t have unlawful intentions?”

After hearing Han Zhan’s words, the thin chef’s face turned pale, then blue; they weren’t people adept at scheming, at best just a bit clever, having seen Jiang Lingling, they thought wickedly.

After being exposed by Han Zhan, the thin chef suddenly erupted with strength from nowhere, shouting and trying to push off the shield weighing him down.

Han Zhan suddenly released his force, stepping aside.

The thin chef couldn’t stop his momentum, lunging forward with huge inertia, flipping over the railing beside the passageway.

A desperate scream sounded.

The sound grew distant, Han Zhan gasped, glad for the regular exercise that prevented exhaustion.

“Are you alright?”

Jiang Lingling came over and asked concernedly.

Han Zhan shook his head.

“You were much calmer than I expected.” Jiang Lingling praised Han Zhan for his performance just now.

“You too.” Han Zhan glanced at the now unconscious fat chef and spoke.

Having just gone through a battle, the two were now comrades.

Their relationship seemed even closer.

“The food, they’ve already prepared it for us, where should we go next?”

“Safehouse.”

This time, Jiang Lingling did not hesitate and said directly.

The safehouse is a special area in the hotel, customized for the most esteemed guests to deal with emergencies.

It has a complete ventilation system, backup power supply, and is not afraid of power outages.

More importantly, it can withstand the impact of missile explosions, with security fully guaranteed.

The only concern is…

“The safehouse is on the other side, requiring us to cross the crowded banquet hall again.”

As soon as Jiang Lingling said this, Han Zhan understood.

“We can take the less populated outer passage.”

When entering the hotel, Han Zhan noticed there was an external glass corridor, likely meant for guests to admire the scenery.

Compared to the most chaotic and unpredictable interior at present, taking the external corridor entailed much lower risk.

Jiang Lingling nodded, agreeing to his proposal.

The two set off once again.

“Now there’s one more thing to confirm.”

As they walked, Han Zhan suddenly thought of something and spoke up.

“If Spiritual Energy truly is resurrecting, the situation suggests that animals might undergo mutation.”

“In Sea City, if I remember correctly, there’s a zoo, and it’s quite nearby.”

“You mean…” Jiang Lingling turned to look at Han Zhan, who was pushing the cart filled with food; his expression was grave as he continued:

“If those animals also mutate, can the safehouse truly keep us protected?”

The force of missile explosions seemed unable to harm the mutated giant python, according to news Han Zhan saw on his phone earlier.

Now they could only hope the zoo in Sea City did not have any overly powerful mutated animals.

…

By the sea, at the zoo.

The thick smell of blood permeated the air, everywhere was drenched in blood, like a purgatory.

A large amount of white mist billowed from this place, the ground littered with shredded limbs and flesh.

Among them were both visiting tourists and many animals.

Furthermore, some clearly had bodies of mutated animals but were still violently torn apart, their bodies covered in sharp claw marks, deep enough to show bone.

At the highest point in the zoo, a landmark sculpture suddenly appeared with a white silhouette.

It was a white wolf!

Its fur was completely white, its stance imposing, with a pair of cold, indifferent eyes gazing beyond the zoo at the once flourishing metropolis.

Its eyes grew increasingly crimson, its slightly opened mouth revealing a set of sharp white teeth, with remnants of flesh still stuck between them.

Howl!

It let out a cold, piercing long howl.

As though declaring, the slaughter is underway!
