Chapter 658: Chapter 23: Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, The Path of Salvation
Six Desire Heavens, the Buddha Country of Amitabha Buddha.
After Li Boyang used the "Supreme True Words·Dharma Commandment" to seize control of the Buddha Country.
All Buddhas fell silent, and the Bright King lowered his head.
The remaining Bodhisattvas, Arhats, Bhikkhus, and Heavenly Maidens naturally dared not look directly at Li Boyang.
Even in this Buddha Country, they had all heard of the Tao Ancestor’s name.
"The Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is nothing more than this."
Without a sound, Li Boyang appeared in front of the man.
As the reincarnation of Amitabha Buddha, the man could naturally perceive the changes in this world.
The true words of Amitabha Buddha were forcibly eliminated and dismantled, turning this world into a masterless Buddha Country.
Or more precisely, the current master of this Buddha Country is temporarily Li Boyang.
Once he leaves this Buddha Country, the new master will be chosen among the current Buddhas and Bright Kings.
From this perspective, Li Boyang could be said to have completely destroyed the last power left by Amitabha Buddha.
"How is this possible?"
Instinctively, the man’s mouth dropped open in disbelief, murmuring.
For the man who had inherited part of Amitabha Buddha’s memories, Li Boyang’s actions were simply subverting his worldview.
This Buddha Country was called the "Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss."
It was a blissful world created by Amitabha Buddha through arduous trials and the manifestation of forty-eight great vows.
At that time, Amitabha Buddha hadn’t yet become a Buddha and was just a small bhikkhu named "Dharmakara."
In pursuit of the paradise in his heart.
The lost Dharmakara cultivated arduously within the realms of all Buddhas, eventually manifesting this Buddha Country as a Buddha through countless kalpas of practice.
The forty-eight great vows were diverse, but the core idea was the "Vow of Guidance."
In Amitabha Buddha’s original concept, living beings’ suffering and hardship in life should be followed by peace and bliss after death.
Thus, as long as beings sincerely recited his name before dying, they would be guided to this boundless and blissful world, completely escaping the suffering sea of the Six Paths of Reincarnation.
Whether this idea was correct is debatable.
In terms of results alone, this Buddha Country can be considered the concretization of Amitabha Buddha’s thoughts.
The reason the man was forcefully guided to this Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss at the last moment by all Buddhas was because he remembered Amitabha Buddha’s name at a critical moment and unconsciously recited it.
However, with the forty-eight great vows that composed the Buddha Country being forcibly dispelled and dismantled by Li Boyang.
Amitabha Buddha’s "Vow of Guidance" naturally disappeared along with them.
From now on, no matter who recites Amitabha Buddha’s name, they can no longer be guided to this Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
"..."
For some reason, the dissolution of the forty-eight great vows should have been a good thing for the man.
But when he truly thought this through, he felt a vague sense of sadness.
Amitabha Buddha’s vows were from the heart, and he had no selfish intentions.
Otherwise, with Amitabha Buddha’s standing and power, no one could have forced him into the Six Paths of Reincarnation.
Even the act of guiding the man into this Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss was merely a way for Amitabha Buddha to have him fulfill the unfinished path of "Guidance."
"Amitabha Buddha was indeed selfless, but his selflessness wasn’t necessarily a good thing."
As if sensing the man’s thoughts, Li Boyang spoke.
"Let us not discuss whether it was appropriate for him to guide others to this ’Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.’"
"You’ve spent quite some time in this ’Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss,’ do you truly believe this ’Pure Land’ is blissful?"
With just a simple question, Li Boyang rendered the man silent.
After all, if the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss were genuinely peaceful and joyful, he wouldn’t have resisted all this time.
"Amitabha Buddha had not experienced the myriad states of the human world, relying only on fragments of memories from countless beings, and the ’Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss’ he created was naturally a fantasy."
After a slight pause, Li Boyang continued.
"In contrast, you have lived the complete life Amitabha Buddha never had..."
"I would say you are more qualified than Amitabha Buddha to create a true Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss."
"Even if that Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss belongs only to you, it wouldn’t be like this one, merely an illusion, a flower in the water, a moon in the mirror, grand in appearance but illusory in essence."
With a bitter smile on his lips, the man deeply sighed.
"You’re right, this ’Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss’ is nothing more than the dream of that Amitabha Buddha."
"He thought that being free of hunger, disease, and death was bliss, that having one’s wishes fulfilled was a Pure Land."
"But how could matters in this world be so simple?"
"I remember you once said, ’When warm and full, thoughts of lust arise; when cold and hungry, thoughts of theft arise.’
"Whether hungry or not, whether sick or not, as long as the human heart exists, it will never be satisfied."
At this, the man suddenly looked around, gazing at the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas with a smile.
"Look at these lofty embodiments of Right Mindfulness."
"From the moment they gained consciousness and had a heart, they ceased to be pure."
"For their own obsessions and visions, they could do anything."
"In this, except for different ultimate goals, they are actually no different from the Demon Kings among the Eight Divisions outside."
Slightly squinting his eyes, Li Boyang looked at the man in front of him for a long time before curiously asking.
"It seems you intend to inherit Amitabha Buddha’s ’Path’?"
Facing Li Boyang’s inquiry, the man was first startled before he reacted.
"Inherit Amitabha Buddha’s ’Path’?"
Honestly, even the man himself didn’t know his current state.
He had simply spoken from emotion earlier, with no concrete thoughts deep within.
Only after being awakened by Li Boyang did the man realize he might have begun to understand his past life?
Looking at this group of Buddhas, who possessed immense power yet appeared remarkably ignorant in a sense.
If he could, wouldn’t he want to change their future?
"Amitabha Buddha had his ’Path of Guidance,’ and you can have your own ’Path of Guidance.’"
"I don’t know how far you can ultimately go..."
"But I can tell you, if you haven’t prepared yourself, it’s best to give up early as the most correct choice."
The man did not doubt Li Boyang’s words; he merely habitually remained silent.
This was the man’s nature formed over past experiences, and it was also the fundamental reason for his arrival at this point.
Mistily, the man seemed to recall the days when he hadn’t yet embarked on the path of cultivation.
Back then... who was it that guided him onto the path of cultivation?
