Chapter 1283 - 912: Scheming

Every room contains a strange creature, how many strange creatures are confined within the Academy?

Nearby, Zhou Qiucheng replied: "Many strange creatures unearthed from ruins have all been sent into Jinling City, confined within the Treasure Tower for suppression."

"Won’t the Academy, having so many strange creatures, cause any trouble?" Zhang Chen asked with a puzzled expression.

"Most of the mysterious objects placed within the rooms are incomplete, and secondly, they possess no life, only various peculiar abilities, so they don’t cause trouble." Zhou Qiucheng explained to resolve Zhang Chen’s doubts.

Zhang Chen nodded upon hearing this, realizing there were such intricacies involved, yet even so, it was clear how profound the foundation of the Great Victory Dynasty was.

As the two continued through long, dark and deep corridors, a flicker of light appeared in the distance, revealing a vast underground world before Zhang Chen’s eyes.

The underground world in front of him emitted waves of light; these were the final struggles of a broken Feng Shui Grand Array. In the sky, a sun hung high, but upon seeing that sun, Zhang Chen hesitated, realizing it wasn’t a sun at all but the eye of an unknown creature.

The eye hung at the top, illuminating the entire underground world. Zhang Chen stood at the entrance, surveying the scene, which revealed a hundred-mile small world, lush with thriving grass and blooming flowers, with bees dancing within.

"In the past, when the Great Victory royal family unearthed the ancient tomb, it was barren and lifeless, but sensing mysterious energy flowing, deemed it suitable for cultivating Spirit Medicine. Hence, they transported soil from outside, using it to grow ginseng and other Spirit Medicines. Through generations of cultivation, it has become a medicinal garden responsible for cultivating Spirit Medicine for the Great Victory royal family." Zhou Qiucheng pointed out the lush scene as he explained to Zhang Chen.

"Just how strong is the Great Victory royal family’s power? Some of the herbs they cultivate have already gained intelligence, and are close to transforming into Demon Beasts." Zhang Chen observed ginseng dolls soon ready to run freely, along with herb-folk transformed into carriage men playing within the medicinal garden.

"The Great Victory royal family founded thousands of years ago, collecting the best resources of the realm for its enjoyment; the foundation of the Great Victory royal family is beyond imagination." Zhou Qiucheng responded.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Chen showed a cautious look in his eyes. Just seeing the ground scattered with Spirit Medicines, Zhang Chen knew the Great Victory royal family wasn’t to be trifled with.

"This medicinal garden is watched over by a land god consecrated by the Great Victory royal family; without the decree of the Human King, no one can touch even a bit of it, so you absolutely mustn’t pick any herbs." Zhou Qiucheng warned.

"Understood, disciple." Zhang Chen nodded.

The two continued onward, passing through the medicinal garden, arriving at numerous gates, and ultimately reaching a corridor: "Ahead lies the last two dangers close to the world barrier, one is the lightning strike, the other is the fire burn. Zhong Xiang’s Qilin Fire comes from here; these two checkpoints are extremely perilous, none have crossed them, if you manage to solve one, the Human King will surely pardon your crimes."

"Zhong Xiang’s Qilin Fire comes from here?" Zhang Chen expressed curiosity upon hearing it.

"According to detection by the Great Victory royal family’s experts, the last two checkpoints here weren’t built by the tomb owner, but rather the tomb owner tried to use the Feng Shui Grand Array to open the world barrier. Over time, with the changes in the world, the Feng Shui array gradually withered, as the world barrier sought to heal. Earth, water, wind, and fire encounter evolution, leading to the appearance of lightning and fire spirits, blocking the passage." Zhou Qiucheng explained.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Chen’s eyes shimmered with Golden Light, carefully examining the passage, feeling the Great Victory royal family’s reasoning was correct. This area truly was where a Great Divine Power User attempted to pierce the world barrier, using the power of the Feng Shui array to tear the world barrier, opening a passage within. But with time’s passage, without management, the Feng Shui array suffered invasion by the world barrier, eroded, leading to leaks, and the leaked thunder and fire power from the world barrier formed the two checkpoints.

Perhaps in less than a thousand years, with increasing leaks in the Feng Shui array, the entire Feng Shui array will collapse, and the torn world barrier will heal again.

"This thunder, fire are powers from the world barrier." Zhang Chen observed the passage for a while, already unraveling the arcane within the Feng Shui array.

Having presided over the construction of Feng Shui arrays twice before, Zhang Chen’s use of them had reached an extremely profound level, easily understanding the keys within at a glance.

Of course, the most crucial point was, the techniques of the Feng Shui array in front of him look familiar, bearing some of West Kunlun’s style.

"Indeed, it’s because of the mistakes in the Feng Shui array, leading to leaks of thunder and fire power from the world barrier; you have keen eyes." Zhou Qiucheng praised.

Zhang Chen showed a thoughtful look: "To solve the problem of thunder and fire, one only needs to repair the Feng Shui array here, doesn’t the Great Victory Dynasty own the realm, couldn’t they find experts to repair this Feng Shui array?"

"The Great Victory Dynasty certainly isn’t short of Feng Shui experts, but this Feng Shui Grand Array comes from an extremely ancient era, differing from today’s arrays, so even if the court has Feng Shui masters, it’s difficult to address the deficiencies of this array." Zhou Qiucheng explained from the side.

Zhang Chen thought of Chen Xu, that guy was also a master of Feng Shui techniques, but when faced with the Feng Shui Grand Array inherited from the Ancient Era, he was still at a loss for what to do.

"The inheritance of the Feng Shui Grand Array has been broken." Zhang Chen thought to himself.

The break wasn’t about being lost, but because with the changes of Heaven and Earth and the passing of ages, the masters of Feng Shui techniques constantly adapted their inheritance to suit the contemporary state of Heaven and Earth, leading it to eventually go extinct after hundreds of thousands of years of evolution.

It’s like the Oracle bones script, which over generations, old things were gradually abandoned, ultimately leading to its extinction.

Additionally, as Heaven and Earth changed, the limit of Heaven and Earth altered, one generation being less than the previous, and cultivation became more difficult, leaving no time to research those ancient and ineffective things. Eventually, those ancient inheritances became obsolete and were gradually abandoned by people.

"I can repair this Feng Shui Grand Array. To be honest, I know quite a bit about this kind of stuff, and I’m just proficient in some Feng Shui Grand Arrays from the Ancient Era." Zhang Chen said to Zhou Qiucheng.

He wasn’t kindly helping the Great Victory Dynasty to repair the Feng Shui Grand Array; he was reminded that he was about to create a world to plant Peaches of Immortality. The gateway linking the Spiritual World and the Material Realm had already been opened, presenting Zhang Chen a prime opportunity to act.

Instead of directly segmenting a layer of the Spiritual World from the Thirty-Three Heavens and dragging the Spiritual World back from the Land of Nothingness, the current situation where a layer of the Spiritual World is already linked with the Material Realm and the world barrier has already intertwined is much more time effective for Zhang Chen to refine.

If you compare the Spiritual World to a sunken cargo ship in the middle of the ocean, would you prefer to undergo a long and difficult endeavor to retrieve it from the seabed, or would you choose to simply pull it ashore when someone else has dragged it to the shore?

The current situation is the latter; an unknown Great Divine Power User has already opened the bridge between the Material World and the Spiritual World, connecting the void with the Material World and anchoring the Spiritual World within the void. Now, Zhang Chen only needs to open the passage between the Material World and the Spiritual World to directly refine it.

If Zhang Chen enters the Spiritual World to intercept the world for refining, he needs to go through three steps: first, intercepting within the Spiritual World, second, refining the Spiritual World, and third, dragging the Spiritual World into the Material Realm.

The third step is the hardest, considering that the Material Realm and the Spiritual World are inherently unconnected. But now Zhang Chen suddenly finds that someone has already set up the passage between the Material Realm and the Spiritual World, so he only needs to complete the first and second steps.

"Can you really repair the Feng Shui Grand Array before you?" Zhou Qiucheng’s eyes lit up at the words.

"Of course! But it will require a lot of materials." Zhang Chen stated.

Not only does he want to repair the Feng Shui Grand Array, but he also needs to reinforce it to prevent it from collapsing while dragging the Spiritual World, which would delay his major plan.

Dragging the Spiritual World out from the Land of Nothingness requires a stable spatial passage, else the affair would lead to a major loss.

As various thoughts flickered in Zhang Chen’s mind, Zhou Qiucheng suddenly grabbed Zhang Chen’s arm and exclaimed: "Young man, you’re going to make great contributions! Once the new world’s door can be opened, you’ll be credited first. We’ve been hoping to open the new world’s door for a long time. According to the information from the Great Victory Royal Family, the new world is filled with endless splendid creations, and breaking through the Twelfth Tier inside is as simple as drinking water. There are numerous exquisite flowers and rare herbs, countless longevity spirit medicines; if you can repair the Grand Array, it’ll be a huge contribution."

"No matter what materials are needed to build the Feng Shui Grand Array, just ask, and I will definitely fetch them for you. The Great Victory Royal Family has gathered the world’s creations; what materials can’t they offer? We just need to focus on the repair, leave the material gathering to the Great Victory Royal Family." Zhou Qiucheng said eagerly.

Zhang Chen smiled at this: "I’ll list a list for the headmaster, and you can collect the materials according to the list. I want to stay here to ponder on the Feng Shui Grand Array. You go gather the materials."

Zhou Qiucheng nodded excitedly, went to command someone to fetch pen and paper, and after Zhang Chen listed hundreds of materials, Zhou Qiucheng left eagerly, leaving Zhang Chen standing in place, staring at the Feng Shui Grand Array silently. After a while, he summoned the pearl left by the Heaven-Opening Fire Spirit and boldly walked towards the sea of fire.

Though the power of the flames was strong, it was no stronger than the Heaven-Opening Fire Spirit, no stronger than his authority over fire attributes.

This Feng Shui Grand Array was constructed by mighty beings from the Ancient Times, exceedingly complex, requiring Zhang Chen to proceed with utmost care, using both the authority over fire attributes and the pearl of the Heaven-Opening Fire Spirit, to avoid any unexpected dangers hidden in the flames that might catch him off guard.

Those old fellows from the Ancient Age were extraordinarily cunning; who knows what kind of traps they buried within the Feng Shui Grand Array for those who come after. If he weren’t careful and were to fall into one, it would really be a joke on him!

Therefore, facing such old tricks from those fellows, Zhang Chen proceeded with utmost caution, not daring to take anything lightly, for no amount of caution could be too much.
