This drew the attention of all the soldiers, and they looked over in unison.

"???" Mei Luo Ye froze. ’He really thinks I did it?’ He hurriedly reiterated, "Mr. Cai Caida, Mr. Sayer really was assassinated by a pack of wild beasts."

He knew Cai Caida wouldn’t believe him, so he immediately took out a recording device and handed it over.

It was a camera from one of the military vehicles, and it had recorded the exact moment the beasts attacked and killed Sayer.

Cai Caida took the device and played the video.

Cai Caida gave another order. "Go assemble all the officers. Brief them on the situation, then bring them to me."

Mei Luo Ye went to carry out the order at once, beginning to summon the officers who had served under Sayer.

Under normal circumstances, if Sayer were still alive, getting these officers to submit to Cai Caida would have taken considerable effort.

But things were different now. Sayer was dead, killed by those beasts. It was nobody’s fault.

After all, it wasn’t as if someone had controlled the beasts to kill Sayer, was it?

It was impossible to hate the beasts, and impossible to get revenge. Therefore, when Cai Caida showed up, they held no grudge against him.

Besides, they had their own futures to consider.

So, it wasn’t long before the officers followed Mei Luo Ye to meet with Cai Caida.

Hearing this, the officers were relieved and expressed their willingness to follow Cai Caida’s orders.

Cai Caida froze. "What’s going on?"

The secretary reported, "Mr. Cai Caida, news just broke. The Xuanfeng Alliance has taken control of Boya’s capital. All officials, including Yasna, have been captured. The two sides have now ceased hostilities and are in the middle of peace negotiations."

"What? How is that possible?" Cai Caida’s expression changed instantly, his face a mask of disbelief.

Even Mei Luo Ye and the two officers looked utterly shocked.

Based on their relative strength, the Xuanfeng Alliance shouldn’t have been capable of this. They simply didn’t have the power. Not even Cai Caida’s own forces could control all of Boya and force them to the negotiating table so quickly.

"Mr. Cai Caida, what now?" Mei Luo Ye asked.

The other two officers also wore grave expressions.
