I Carry a Game World With Me
Chapter 326 - 302: Lu Feng, Do as We Say
Chapter 326: Chapter 302: Lu Feng, Do as We Say
Lu Feng sneered inwardly at Xiaozhi’s report.
’So they really did send people to the hotel.’
Unfortunately, those men were no threat to an Ability User.
In reality, to deal with an Ability User, you needed enough manpower, sufficiently powerful weapons, and a well-laid ambush.
If an Ability User was the one launching a sneak attack, then their target was as good as dead.
Clearly, the men they sent to the hotel didn’t have sufficiently powerful weapons. They were probably clueless about the situation and were taken out with ease.
Just then, the driver turned, heading straight for the suburbs.
Seeing this, Lu Feng put on an act. "This isn’t the way to the airport, is it?"
"You’re right, it isn’t," the driver said with a mocking nod. He pressed a button, and a cloud of gas erupted from the rear of the cabin, engulfing Lu Feng.
In that instant, Lu Feng detected a sour smell.
’They must have prepared this just for me, huh?’
Too bad for them, it had no effect on him whatsoever.
After all, his constitution was far beyond that of an ordinary person.
To catch everyone behind this in one fell swoop, he once again feigned being knocked out, closing his eyes and slumping over in the back seat.
The driver chuckled at the sight and reported into his earpiece, "This stuff is really potent. He went down instantly."
Smith’s voice came back through the earpiece almost immediately. "It was tailor-made for him. Bring him in!"
"Yes, Mr. Smith!" the driver responded, then slammed on the accelerator and sped toward the prearranged warehouse in the suburbs.
Soon, the car pulled into a suburban warehouse and stopped.
Lu Feng, still feigning unconsciousness, felt someone open the car door, haul him out, and set him down in a chair.
"Mr. Smith, how long until he wakes up?"
"He’ll be up in a moment."
Lu Feng listened to their conversation and, true to their word, "woke up" a moment later. He put his acting skills to work again, looking around in feigned confusion. "Where am I?"
Then, his eyes landed on Smith and his men, and he adopted a terrified expression. "Who are you people?"
Smith sat smiling across a table from Lu Feng and introduced himself. "Mr. Lu Feng, allow me to introduce myself. I am from the Beautiful Country. The reason I’ve brought you here in such a manner is that I have a very important partnership to discuss with you!"
Lu Feng, who already knew who they were, said with a wry tone, "You went to all this trouble just to discuss a partnership with me? I imagine it must be quite an important one."
Smith smiled. "It is indeed. I want you to become one of us. I want you to give us the file on the Xuanfeng Alliance’s Governor and help us monitor the Alliance. I also happen to know your relationship with the Governor is quite close. It would be best if you could get him to cozy up to us."
"Hold on." Lu Feng hadn’t expected this to be their objective. He shot back, "Why do you assume I have a good relationship with the Governor of the Xuanfeng Alliance, and not that I *am* the Governor of the Xuanfeng Alliance?"
"Hahaha, Mr. Lu, you must be joking," Smith said with extreme confidence. "You’re from the Dragon Country, and you practically fled to the Xuanfeng Alliance in disgrace, didn’t you?"
He didn’t believe someone from the Dragon Country could have founded the Xuanfeng Alliance in a place like Cambodia. Furthermore, their intel showed that Lu Feng didn’t have that kind of power or influence.
"Alright, you got me," Lu Feng said with a sigh of resignation.
’At this rate, they wouldn’t believe me even if I told them I was the Governor of the Xuanfeng Alliance, would they?’
’People are always more willing to believe their own assumptions and fantasies than the actual truth.’
’When the truth you tell them contradicts their own theories, they’ll subconsciously choose to reject it.’
Hearing Lu Feng’s admission, Smith grew even more confident. "The Xuanfeng Alliance’s influence is already quite significant, especially after Xuanfeng Bank replaced Rui Shi Bank."
"An organization like the Xuanfeng Alliance is beyond comparison to small nations like Ba Country or Myanmar... As such, we don’t want them getting close to the Dragon Country. We want them to look to us instead."
"Of course, in return, we can grant Mr. Lu citizenship and ensure that his businesses can operate unimpeded in the Beautiful Country."
Lu Feng hadn’t thought for a second that this was their goal.
He felt a sudden, small sense of pride. At least this proved his Xuanfeng Alliance had some international clout. Otherwise, why would they go to all this trouble?
’But aren’t they being a little too arrogant? Did they really think he’d be willing to take their citizenship?’
"You seem awfully confident I’ll agree to cooperate," Lu Feng asked, his tone teasing.
Smith replied unhurriedly, "While the Dragon Country is tightly secured, making it difficult for our people to investigate, we are aware that you were suppressed there. Afterward, Mr. Lu, you joined the Xuanfeng Alliance. You must harbor a lot of resentment, don’t you? You must want to make the Dragon Country regret its actions, right?"
"Therefore, the help you can receive within the Xuanfeng Alliance is limited. By accepting citizenship in our Beautiful Country, you’ll receive far greater support and be in a much better position to make the Dragon Country regret everything."
Smith was supremely confident about this.
He had met many people from the Dragon Country just like this, and he had won over a good number of them. The man before him would just be the latest addition.
"So, Mr. Lu? What do you say?" Smith asked again.
Lu Feng asked with a faint smile, "Mr. Smith, what if I say no? What happens then?"
Smith frowned.
’He’d laid it all out so clearly, and this guy was still asking questions like that?’
’Looks like I’ll have to use my backup plan after all.’
His voice took on a threatening edge. "Mr. Lu, you should understand that now that we’ve made our move, we won’t stop until we achieve our goal. And if you won’t think about yourself, you should at least think about your companions. Let me let you hear a familiar voice."
As he spoke, he took out his phone and called his men at the hotel.
The call connected a moment later. "Let my guest hear the voice of his companion," he said into the phone.
But the voice that answered wasn’t one of his men. It was Yang Ming, who asked mockingly, "Are we the companions you’re talking about? Oh, right, you were trying to call your men, weren’t you? They’re already dead!"
"What?" Smith shot to his feet, his face draining of color as he stared at Lu Feng.
"Looks like you’ve been disappointed," Lu Feng said with a dismissive wave. He stood up on his own. "I’ve played along with you for long enough. It’s time to end this."
"You’re courting death." Smith immediately drew a pistol and aimed it at Lu Feng.
He clearly realized something was wrong. The situation had changed.
But he didn’t understand. He and his men had been so careful with their surveillance; there was no way their target could have detected them. Besides, his subordinates were elites. How could they have been defeated at the hotel?
’By his bodyguards alone?’
Almost simultaneously, Smith’s men also drew their weapons and aimed them at Lu Feng.
Lu Feng, however, was completely unfazed. "Quite the welcoming party," he mocked. "But you’ve picked a fight with the wrong person."
With that, he kicked the table aside and started walking toward Smith.
Smith’s expression turned grim, and he pulled the trigger.
But when the gun fired, Lu Feng was completely unharmed.
He had already formed an energy shield. How could a mere pistol hurt him?
Smith’s eyes flew wide when he saw this. "How is that possible?"
Terrified, he fired again and again.
’Is this a joke?’
’I’m shooting right at him, so why isn’t it doing anything?’
He had been on countless missions, but he’d never encountered anything so bizarre.
Bullet after bullet slammed into the energy shield, still failing to inflict even a scratch on Lu Feng.
In a flash, Lu Feng closed the distance and, with a cold sneer, grabbed Smith by the throat. With his enhanced speed, Smith didn’t even have time to react.
"What... what kind of monster are you?" Smith’s face turned beet red, and he could barely breathe. As Lu Feng lifted him off the ground, he choked out in terror, "Quick... kill him! Ki—!"
His voice was frantic and desperate!
The surrounding men didn’t dare hesitate, immediately opening fire on Lu Feng.
They were all specially trained, with excellent marksmanship. Every bullet flew straight toward Lu Feng.
But as the bullets struck the energy shield, they were all deflected, falling to the floor with a metallic clatter.
The sight brought the room to a standstill.
Everyone took a frightened step back.
"Th-This... How is this possible?"
"What... what the hell is he?"
"Why is this happening?"
"..."
Smith’s eyes widened in utter horror as if he’d just realized something. "You... you really are the Xuanfeng Alliance’s... Gover—"
CRACK!
Lu Feng snapped his neck, cutting his words short.
Dropping Smith’s corpse, he turned his gaze to the others. Two small figures appeared at his feet—it was Jinwen and Xiaoshi.
The two Mutated Beast King cubs instantly understood their master’s intent and shot toward the men.
Bloodcurdling screams erupted.
A trail of agonized screams followed in the two little ones’ wake.
Without a backward glance, Lu Feng walked out of the warehouse.
By the time he was outside, the sounds from the warehouse had ceased. The two little creatures scurried out to join him.
The warehouse was now filled with nothing but corpses and the thick stench of blood.
Xiaozhi’s voice chimed in. "Master, all relevant security footage and car rental information have been erased. Also, should I teach them a lesson in return? I’ve already breached their network!"
"It would be rude not to return the favor," Lu Feng said with a backward glance, then dialed Yang Ming’s number.
He put his phone away, recalled the two little creatures, and left the warehouse, hailing a cab to the airport.
At the airport, Yang Ming and the others were already waiting.
As their group boarded the plane, police sirens began to blare around the hotel where they had been staying.
Shortly after, the Bali police received another call: a warehouse was littered with weapons and corpses.
When the police arrived at the warehouse, their examination of the bodies led to one conclusion: the men had all been killed by the claws of some wild animal.
This brought the investigation to a standstill. It was simply impossible.
The corpses were all clearly armed. There was no way a wild animal could have harmed them. If an animal had attacked, a single volley of gunfire would have put it down.
But if not an animal, then what was it?
The wounds on the corpses were undeniably from an animal’s claws.
Without a doubt, this was destined to become a cold case.
「Meanwhile, Lu Feng had already boarded a plane and left France.」
