I Can Transfer the Side Effects of Evil Skills
Chapter 804 - 461: This Kid is Too Small-Minded
The moment Li Chengxin uttered the words, "Are you sure?", the atmosphere shifted, growing noticeably tense.
Zou Feng couldn’t help but think via his Heart Dao, "This guy is showing his true colors far too obviously."
After all, with numerous disciples of the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect present, along with several True Inheritors, silencing everyone would be impossible. There was no need for him to be so hasty, going so far as to pressure him in public. Unless he had encountered some impending disaster that required immediate resolution.
But that had nothing to do with Zou Feng. He was currently at the critical juncture of his Nascent Soul Formation. There was no need for him to make compromises or feign compliance. If he lost his momentum now, even if he successfully completed his Nascent Soul Formation, the quality of his Celestial Tribulation would drop significantly. As a result, it was almost certain that he wouldn’t be able to bring enough misery to Marquis Gongyang.
Therefore, Zou Feng didn’t hesitate for long. He replied in a neutral tone, "Brother Li, I appreciate your high regard, but I truly have no such plans."
Seeing Zou Feng’s resolute answer, Li Chengxin fell silent for a moment before breaking into a gentle smile.
"Truly the bearing of a Direct Disciple! I used to think the rumors about you were exaggerated, but now I see they are completely justified!" He burst into hearty laughter at the end of his sentence.
The surrounding disciples immediately chimed in with accommodating laughter. Li Chengxin’s words not only eased the tense atmosphere but also cleverly spun his earlier aggressiveness into a mere test of Zou Feng’s character. Surprisingly, some people present actually bought it. After all, this aligned perfectly with the lofty demeanor they expected from a Direct Disciple.
For Zou Feng, however, it was clear he shouldn’t overstay his welcome. Li Chengxin was obviously scheming against him, not to mention Marquis Gongyang, who could pop up to cause trouble at any moment. He absolutely could not remain in the Northern Domain. His best course of action was to return to the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect as quickly as possible and safely undergo his Nascent Soul Formation.
"Brother Li, Elder Undying once instructed me that as soon as I killed Gongyang Wuji, I was to report back to him immediately.
"By now, Elder Undying should have sensed Gongyang Wuji’s fall. He might already be on his way to receive me..."
At this point, Li Chengxin naturally realized the kid was trying to slip away. He was even dragging Undying Master’s name into it, hoping to make Li Chengxin hesitate out of fear of the consequences.
But Li Chengxin truly had no valid reason to make Zou Feng stay. Or rather, even if he found some excuse, Zou Feng would certainly decline again. That would only make things more awkward, and by then, even a fool would see that he had ulterior motives regarding Zou Feng.
After weighing the pros and cons, Li Chengxin waved his hand and said with feigned nonchalance, "If that is the case, then hurry back to the sect!"
The next moment, Zou Feng bowed to Li Chengxin and Elder Fu Yun, ready to turn and leave. But before slipping away, he made sure to pull all his allies along with him.
"Senior Sister Jiang, Brother Zhao, Brother Fang, Brother Chen! All of you contributed greatly to my slaying of Gongyang Wuji. Please, come with me to report to Elder Undying!"
Truth be told, Jiang Wanzhao and Zhao Feixiong, at the very least, didn’t want to return just yet. However, having noticed the subtle tension in the air moments ago, they knew they had to do him this small favor. After all, the more True Disciples accompanied Zou Feng, the more hesitant Li Chengxin would be if he were truly deranged enough to attack him. At the very least, he would have to spend time formulating a more comprehensive plan.
Otherwise, despite being a Direct Disciple, he couldn’t casually harm his own sect’s Child of Fortune. If the matter were ever exposed, the fallout would be far too severe.
As for Fang Shi and Chen Zifan, both had unhealed injuries and had just experienced massive emotional turbulence. They genuinely wanted to return to the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect to rest and recover.
Thus, the group readily agreed and immediately followed Zou Feng out.
Upon returning to the Holy Lotus, Zou Feng intentionally had Zhu Caiwei make an appearance. It was a blatant display to show Li Chengxin that they, too, had someone at the Nascent Soul Realm holding down the fort.
However, Zou Feng knew this gesture had limited effect. If she were an ordinary Nascent Soul Realm cultivator, it might be one thing, but as a Direct Disciple of the Immortal Sect, Li Chengxin was an outstanding figure even among those in the Nascent Soul Realm. His strength and methods were unfathomable. A ’little spider’ like Zhu Caiwei, who had only recently advanced to the Nascent Soul Realm, was likely someone Li Chengxin didn’t take seriously at all.
After Zou Feng and his group swiftly departed aboard the Holy Lotus, Li Chengxin and Elder Fu Yun returned to their room.
"Are you truly in such desperate need of his fortune?" Elder Fu Yun asked with concern, completely dropping his previous aloof demeanor.
With his hands clasped behind his back, Li Chengxin let out a soft sigh. "I shouldn’t have spied on the Queen Mother of the Western Heaven.
"And I certainly shouldn’t have tried to undo the seal of the Ten Hall Yama after falling into the Queen Mother’s trap..."
By the end of his sentence, his expression had twisted into one of teeth-gnashing frustration.
In the minds of most Immortal Sect Disciples, heavyweights at the level of Direct Disciples had not yet truly entered the fray. In reality, however, the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect had long been secretly laying out its strategies, dispatching Direct Disciples to lay the groundwork before launching a general offensive.
Yet, as formidable as Direct Disciples were, they were not invincible. Li Chengxin, for instance, had brought a world of trouble upon himself due to his arrogance. Though he appeared fine on the surface for now, a hidden danger had been firmly planted within him, leaving him restless and unable to eat or sleep in peace.
In short, just as Zou Feng had guessed, Li Chengxin was desperate. He urgently needed to siphon some of Zou Feng’s fortune to purge his hidden affliction.
After Li Chengxin finished speaking, Elder Fu Yun frowned. "But killing Zou Feng would have too massive an impact. I’m afraid the secret would inevitably get out..."
