I Can Level Up Infinitely
Chapter 286: Millions
Soon, Logan arrived at the royal court. The moment he entered through the main gate, a hush fell.
Princess Lilith, who was talking to her father, stopped and looked toward the entrance. The King also stopped pacing back and forth.
"Logan... You are here. Please come." Lilith said.
The King looked at Logan awkwardly. He didn’t know how to address him. The last day, he was dead set on punishing Logan. Yet, Logan dealt with every obstacle as if he were a lion walking amidst sheep. Even cultivators at the God Accession realm were nothing before him.
Logan walked forward under everyone’s mixed gaze. Some looked at him with awe. Some with fear. Some with caution.
Logan stopped before the throne, a few meters away from Lilith and the King. Mercer was standing calmly. It looked like he already knew where Spade passed last night.
"You called me on an urgent notice. What’s going on?" Logan didn’t beat around the bush.
"The matter regarding those three cultivators from Ninth Heaven dying was leaked. Twenty people from the Ninth Heaven and eighty people from the Eighth Heaven have already arrived in the Seventh Heaven. Even many from this Heaven have also joined hands. And..."
"And?" Logan asked.
"Earlier we were worried about the Dragon race and Orc race attacking us. But the news about someone wielding the Demon Sword spread like wildfire. And many other races joined the party. What’s even worse, they are already here. We have at best three hours in our hands before they attack us." Lilith explained the situation quickly.
"How many?"
"How many from the monster races?"
"Yes."
"I don’t know the exact number. But it’s in the millions."
Everyone in the Royal court sucked in a deep breath.
"Millions? Did I hear the Princess correctly?" One whispered.
"What else? Do you even understand what that weapon represents? That’s the strongest weapon ever created in history. Of course people will be after it. And not just humans. Monster races, dwarfs, elves. I won’t be surprised even if we see demons attacking our Empire right now. That’s how troublesome that weapon is."
"But the weapon can only be wielded by its chosen master. So what if they kill him and take the sword? It will remain like a decorative relic." Another expressed his doubts in a low voice.
"You don’t know anything." A middle-aged man from the side chimed in. "That sword is a soul weapon, so of course, yes, no one can wield it other than its master. But I heard souls can be interchanged with rituals. Or how else did you think this person got to tame the Demon Sword? Though the sword’s power will greatly diminish, it will still stand at the peak."
Most people still couldn’t understand what kind of existence Logan was. They thought he had somehow managed to corrupt the sword’s soul, and that’s how he was able to wield it.
"Do you think you can still protect us?" Finally, the King spoke. He had to ensure the Empire’s safety.
Logan looked at him for a few seconds before speaking. "Should be okay."
"Should be? Are you saying you are not confident?"
"The future is never certain. One should be confident in himself, not blinded by excess of it."
"But..." The King wanted to say something, but Princess Lilith cut him off. "Father... We should just try our best. What he said is a fact. No matter how long we prepare, no matter how strong we are, the future can never be certain." Lilith then looked at Logan.
"How should we prepare for it? You might be strong, but even then, millions of opponents at a time will not be easy."
"How many formation masters do you have?" Logan asked.
"Eleven."
"How many of them are Mythic grade?"
"Three."
"Good. Bring me a mana model of the Empire."
Princess Lilith nodded and instructed one of the royal guards to bring a mana model.
Soon, the guard brought a round disc and placed it on the ground. The disc glowed, and the hologram of the whole Empire materialized over it.
Logan circled it a few times before stopping.
"Here." Logan pointed to a location outside the Empire. "Around the whole Empire, we will have to set mana traps up to this distance. Then at this point..." He then pointed to another location inside the Empire, which was close to the border. "We have to place one-third of our men who are better at long-range attacks in this line. This party will attack them when our enemies are distracted by the traps. Their goal is to inflict maximum possible damage in a short time. But once all the traps are neutralized, these long-range attackers will fall back and join the rest of the long-range attackers in the center."
"Those who are better in close combat will be here, and those who can control different beasts will be here. Any doubts?" Logan asked.
A few of the strategists who were standing at the front looked totally dumbfounded. One of them was even a strong cultivator. He was at the fifth stage of the Immortal Soul realm. He again went through all the points Logan had marked, the types of troops needed there and the duration they had to act. Everything seemed just perfect.
Even the King couldn’t help but praise Logan inwardly. ’Only if he wasn’t a demon.’ He sighed.
Lilith looked at the generals and conveyed her command. Though she was still just a Princess, after yesterday’s incident, she was acting as the true decision-maker.
"Move out." Her authoritative voice echoed through the royal court. "We don’t have much time."
People started to move. Weapons were drawn. Lilith stayed there, watching them leave. She then turned toward Logan. "What about you? Where will you stay?"
Logan looked at the mana model again. "Wherever they need me."
"You can cover that many places?"
"Are you saying your people won’t be able to hold on for much longer?"
"Something like that."
"Don’t worry." Logan said. "It should be fine."
