Chapter 583: Chapter 583 - Mean Lady

After Geezer Mallard left, Leyvi was left alone with Bardan.

An awkward silence lingered between them for a while until Scarlet and Mr. Bison returned to Leyvi’s side.

"Boss, don’t forget about my reward. Look how messy my fur became." Scarlet reminded lazily before disappearing into the spirit beast bag.

Leyvi raised an eyebrow.

He couldn’t tell where the messy fur was at all. She looked exactly the same as before the fight. Her beautiful fur didn’t seem affected by the battle in the slightest.

Snort!

"Boss! What about my reward? How come she gets a reward but I don’t?" Mr. Bison complained.

"Sure, sure. I’ll bring you to the beauty salon too as your reward. Now get inside," Leyvi said.

"What? Boss, I’m a macho bison! How can I go to a beauty salon? That’s not a reward at all! Give me some top-quality grass or something."

"What do you mean top-quality grass? Lilian already provides you with the best quality grass all the time. Do you think you can find better grass somewhere else? As a fair boss, you’ll be getting the same reward as Scarlet. Discussion over," Leyvi declared.

Snort!

"Fine! If Scarlet can bring her daughters, then I’ll bring Graalkira and the others too."

With that, Mr. Bison also returned to the spirit beast bag.

Leyvi’s expression immediately turned suspicious.

Graalkira was the name of the female bison who used to chase Mr. Bison away from the herd in the past. After the problems caused by the Red Eye Craze phenomenon, the entire bison herd had been relocated and now roamed freely around Bara City.

Did this delusional bison secretly hook up with the female bisons already? Leyvi wondered.

Well, it was none of his business.

Bardan, who had been standing nearby, was dumbfounded.

Sending your spirit beasts to a beauty salon... What kind of reward is that? Is this a normal beast tamer thing? He wasn’t sure.

That said, after watching the battle just now, he could tell that the demonic red fox was extraordinary too, though in a completely different way from the invincible bison.

At first, her bloodline aura didn’t feel particularly strong. However, that was merely a facade. She had deliberately controlled the bloodline aura leaking from her body to make herself appear weaker.

That meant from the very beginning, she had been playing the role of the weaker target to catch her opponent off guard.

Comparing Leyvi and Roman during the battle, it was obvious that Leyvi wasn’t the one directing the fight, whereas Roman dictated every move his spirit beasts made.

So if Leyvi wasn’t the one leading the battle, then it could only have been that fox. A scheming fox with the abilities to back up her schemes.

"Are you going to stay half naked like that? My daughter is watching the live broadcast. Are you deliberately trying to seduce her with your muscular body? Hmph!" Bardan remarked.

Leyvi looked down.

"Oh right. My fancy shirt is gone."

He immediately took out a simple shirt and the red jacket he always wore, then put them on. Barcas’ wedding ceremony was already over, so he didn’t have to keep wearing the fancy shirt anymore.

"Are you after my daughter’s ability?" Bardan suddenly asked.

Leyvi, who had just finished putting on his jacket, looked at Bardan in surprise. He had asked through sound transmission, clearly intending this to be a private conversation.

"I am," Leyvi replied truthfully through sound transmission.

He could tell that Bardan wanted to have a heart-to-heart conversation. Lying right now would only be disrespectful.

"Then... you have no feelings for my daughter?" Bardan asked again, his tone calm.

"I do like her. She’s a nice girl."

"Not love?"

"For now, I can only confidently say that I love one woman."

"Your first wife?"

Leyvi simply nodded.

Bardan fell silent for a moment before letting out a long sigh.

"As a father, hearing that is extremely frustrating." He looked into the distance. "I don’t want my daughter to be with someone who wouldn’t prioritize her above everyone else."

"I understand." Leyvi nodded. "All I can say is that I’ll do my best to be the best husband for her, just as I do for my other wives."

He didn’t try to make promises he couldn’t keep. There was no point saying beautiful words just to gain Bardan’s approval.

"If my daughter ever tells me she’s unhappy in any way, be prepared to face my wrath." Bardan’s gaze sharpened. "I won’t go easy on you. Understand?"

Leyvi blinked.

"Could it be you’ve already approved of me?" he asked. "What about the rest of the challenges?"

There was no other way for him to interpret those words.

"Hmph!" Bardan snorted. "You still have to pass all the challenges for everyone to see. I need every guest today to witness that the man who will marry my daughter truly possesses unmatched talent."

He looked directly at Leyvi.

"If you truly care about her, then show the world what you’re capable of."

Leyvi was genuinely surprised. He hadn’t expected Bardan to take this matter so seriously.

Then he remembered something.

Ever since arriving in the Central Region, he had heard many people mention that Bardan would only allow an exceptionally talented man to pursue Barbara.

If, after saying that for so many years, the man Barbara eventually married turned out to be nothing remarkable, then Bardan’s words would become a joke. People would undoubtedly mock him for it. Barbara herself would probably become the target of ridicule as well.

Thinking about it from that perspective, Leyvi could understand why Barcas decided on making everything public. He probably had considered this for his father and sister.

After spending two months around here, he had also noticed another difference compared to the South Region.

People here cared far more about prestige, reputation, achievements, and face.

Perhaps it was because this region gathered the continent’s strongest cultivators and greatest talents. Competition naturally became much fiercer.

Many people here were inherently more arrogant than those from the other regions. Even when they didn’t say anything out loud, their expressions often revealed exactly what they were thinking.

"Leave it to me, Father-in-law," Leyvi said with a reassuring smile. "I’ll make sure no one will have anything bad to say."

Bardan’s mouth twitched.

"Hmph! Don’t call me Father-in-law until you’ve actually married my daughter!"

"Yes, Father-in-law," Leyvi replied without missing a beat, deliberately getting under Bardan’s skin.

...

After a while, Geezer Mallard finally returned with a young lady following behind him.

Leyvi observed her as they approached.

The woman didn’t have the prettiest face, but her figure was undeniably voluptuous, especially in the low-cut dress that accentuated her full bosom.

Monica landed in front of Leyvi while Geezer Mallard walked over to Bardan.

"I watched your battle just now." Monica looked Leyvi up and down before smiling. "I especially like your gorgeous demonic red fox. Any chance you’ll sell her to me?"

"Apologies, Miss Monica." Leyvi shook his head. "Scarlet isn’t for sale. End of discussion."

"Haa... Is that so?" Monica sighed. "Boring..."

She quickly changed the subject.

"Oh right. I saw you getting along very well with those failed Spiritual Cultivators. I can’t believe you even brought them to the wedding."

"What’s wrong with that?" Leyvi tilted his head. "I think they’re nice people."

"Huhuhu." Monica laughed softly.

"That’s funny. Being nice doesn’t get you anywhere. Being talented does."

She crossed her arms and looked at Leyvi with unconcealed disdain.

"You want to marry Young Lady Barbara, don’t you? Unfortunately, I don’t think you have enough talent to achieve that goal."

She shook her head with a smile.

"It’s honestly amusing. A country bumpkin suddenly comes out of nowhere and boldly claims to possess the greatest Spiritual Cultivation talent. How shameless."

"Even I don’t dare claim something like that. Ever since the project ended, I’ve improved by leaps and bounds. Those failures are nothing compared to my level."

She snorted lightly.

"It makes me nauseous just thinking about being compared to them."

She then covered her mouth with a hand and smiled.

"Oh dear. Look at me. I got carried away."

Leyvi was speechless. This lady is so mean.

No wonder the Spiritual Cultivator group didn’t like any of the Elite Five. Were they all this obnoxious? Roman, his previous opponent, had been just as insufferable.

He turned and glanced at Bardan, only to find him awkwardly avoiding his gaze.

Huh? Don’t tell me this guy deliberately hired the most obnoxious people to be my opponents? Leyvi couldn’t help but suspect.

His suspicion was spot on.

Before getting to know Leyvi personally, Bardan had indeed picked the most irritating opponents he could find out of spite.

While Leyvi was distracted, something ridiculous happened.

Leyvi suddenly felt a hand forcefully grabbing his holy rod and holy balls. He instinctively jumped backward and slapped the invisible hand away.

What the heck! Did he just get molested by this woman? Did she just use an invisible hand to grab his private parts? His eyes widened in disbelief.

"Oh my. They are very impressive. I wonder how big it will be when fully erect. I have a feeling that this is where your talent truly lies. How about I hire you for one night?" Monica offered, licking her deep red lips.

Fuck! This girl is a crazy molester! Leyvi cursed inwardly.

Never had he ever imagined that he would be molested by a woman.
