Chapter 580: Chapter 580 - Team Battle

"Who will be my opponent, and what is the duel format?" Leyvi asked, wanting to clarify the details first.

If his opponent turned out to be Bardan himself and he brought out a General Level demonic beast, that would obviously be unfair. Even Mr. Bison would have a difficult time defeating such an opponent.

"Bahahaha! I already told you I won’t be unfair." Bardan laughed. "Your opponent will be someone in the same cultivation realm as you, and their spirit beasts will also be at the same level as yours."

He raised three fingers.

"The format will be a best-of-three Spirit Beast Duel."

"You have three spirit beasts, correct?"

Bardan already knew that Leyvi possessed a demonic bison, a demonic red fox, and a demonic monkey.

During the Mystic Realm expedition, two of them had fortunately advanced to the Commander Level.

Bardan had to admit that beast taming was indeed one of Leyvi’s greatest strengths.

Under normal circumstances, a Core Formation Realm spiritual imprint should have difficulty controlling Commander-level demonic beasts.

However, thanks to Leyvi’s Spiritual Cultivation, his spiritual imprint had undoubtedly become strong enough to command them.

Based on the information Bardan had gathered, Leyvi’s demonic bison was unbelievably powerful.

A single charge from it had killed a Commander-level demonic dolphin.

However, the monkey was extremely weak.

As for the red fox, there wasn’t much information available beyond the fact that she had fought intelligently during the previous tournament.

Even if the person he had invited failed to defeat the bison, there was still a good chance of winning the remaining two matches.

Not to mention, the opponent he had chosen was far from ordinary.

He was widely regarded as one of the best young beast tamers in the southeastern part of the Central Region.

Relying on their family’s extensive research into demonic beast biology, they had developed their own secret beast-taming methods, allowing them to raise spirit beasts that were exceptionally strong and obedient.

As a result, they also possessed methods that enabled lower-realm beast tamers to command higher-level spirit beasts.

Even if Leyvi had the abnormally powerful demonic bison, Bardan believed his chances of winning the other match were slim.

"I’m sorry. I only have two spirit beasts available for the duel." Leyvi shook his head. "Stripey now follows my disciple. It happened just recently. He’s no longer my spirit beast."

It was true that he currently had three demonic beasts with him.

However, there was no way he could expose Senior Lapin to the public. A King Level demonic beast would shock the entire continent. He didn’t want to attract that much scrutiny.

"Is that so? Then we’ll simply change the format." Bardan responded without hesitation. "How about a two-versus-two Spirit Beast Duel?"

He had already prepared for the possibility that Leyvi would avoid using his weakest spirit beast.

Leyvi blinked. A two-versus-two battle?

Can Mr. Bison even fight together with Scarlet? Wouldn’t it just become a mess? He had never made the two of them fight side by side before.

"Alright. That’s fine." Leyvi still agreed. He would just figure it out during the match.

A sly smile appeared on Bardan’s face.

Naive brat. This might seem fair on the surface, but it wasn’t.

Leyvi might possess a powerful spirit beast, but as a beast tamer, he clearly lacked actual dueling experience. Judging from his reaction just now, his spirit beasts had never even fought together as a team before. That alone was already a significant weakness.

On the other hand, the opponent Bardan had invited possessed abundant Spirit Beast Duel experience and extensive knowledge of demonic beasts. More importantly, his opponent already knew exactly which spirit beasts Leyvi would be bringing, while Leyvi knew absolutely nothing about his opponent’s lineup.

With all of those advantages combined, Leyvi would be fighting from a greatly disadvantaged position. His chances of winning were slim.

Let’s see how you overcome this. Don’t disappoint my daughter, brat.

Leyvi’s mouth twitched. Why was this old man making that expression?

He looked ridiculously confident that Leyvi was going to lose.

"Oi, Bardan! Stop smiling like a villain and introduce his opponent already!" Geezer Mallard shouted from below.

Bardan’s smile immediately stiffened.

He wanted to argue with the old geezer as he usually did, but restrained himself. There were more important matters to deal with right now.

"Ahem." He cleared his throat. "Allow me to introduce your opponent."

"Roman Magister, please come onto the stage."

"Huh?" Leyvi was genuinely surprised.

He hadn’t expected Roman to be his opponent.

What a coincidence.

Roman Magister quickly walked onto the stage and stopped beside Bardan.

"This is Roman Magister, my representative for the first challenge." Bardan introduced. "He is among the best beast tamers of the younger generation in this part of the Central Region. Defeat him, and you’ll have proven your talent."

Roman glanced at Leyvi with a smug smile before secretly transmitting his voice.

"So, do you know who I am now?"

"I never expected the person I was hired to humiliate today would be you, a mere country bumpkin."

"If I’d known earlier, I wouldn’t have listened to my grandfather and apologized."

"Even more ridiculous, you actually traveled all the way here to propose to Lady Barbara. You must have brain damage."

Ever since their encounter at the gate, Roman had secretly decided to pay Leyvi back for the humiliation.

Now he found a good chance. During the duel, he intended to kill both of Leyvi’s spirit beasts. A bison and a red fox were nothing compared to the powerful demonic beasts his family had painstakingly raised.

Leyvi couldn’t even be bothered to respond.

He simply ignored Roman entirely before turning to Bardan.

"Where will we be fighting?"

It obviously couldn’t be inside the wedding venue. The duel would involve Commander-level demonic beasts, not low or intermediate-level ones. Their destructive power was on an entirely different level.

"The battlefield will be outside the town," Bardan replied. "A few kilometers away will be sufficient."

He then turned toward the guests.

"As for our honored guests, please remain seated. The battle will be broadcast live here for everyone to watch."

"We’ll return as soon as the match concludes."

"Hue hue hue. Bardan, I’ll come along too so you don’t secretly cheat." Geezer Mallard said with a grin.

"Tch. Suit yourself, geezer." Bardan snorted. "Everyone else can remain here and watch."

He wasn’t in the mood to bicker with the old man.

And so, the four of them headed several kilometers west of the town.

Leyvi noticed that the area was unusually barren. The ground was littered with craters of various sizes, while shattered rocks and broken cliffs could be seen in every direction. It was obvious this place had served as a battleground countless times before.

"Alright." Bardan stopped walking. "Take your positions and face each other. Then summon your spirit beasts."

At the same time, he took out a round broadcasting device so everyone in the wedding hall could watch the duel live.

Leyvi and Roman both followed the instructions.

"Mr. Bison, Scarlet, let’s go!"

The next moment, a majestic golden bison and a beautiful three-tailed red fox appeared before Leyvi.

"This bison..." Geezer Mallard’s eyes widened. "A diamond-related bloodline? That’s incredibly rare."

Although Bardan had already learned about Mr. Bison through the investigation report, seeing him with his own eyes was a completely different experience. A powerful bloodline aura continuously radiated from the diamond-armored bison.

"Is this really only a Commander-level demonic beast?" he muttered.

The one most shocked, however, was Roman Magister.

His family had raised countless demonic beasts over the generations. The outstanding ones became the family’s spirit beasts, while the weaker ones were used for various research and experiments.

Having seen so many different bloodlines growing up, he immediately recognized how extraordinary this bison was.

Damn it! Where in the world did this guy get a spirit beast like this? What kind of absurd luck did he have to tame something with such a powerful bloodline?

Roman’s expression became much more serious. This duel would not be nearly as easy as he had imagined. The bison alone would be difficult to deal with.

Looks like I’ll have to eliminate the red fox as quickly as possible first, then focus everything on bringing down the bison.

"Are you done admiring them?" Leyvi asked. "If so, bring out your spirit beasts. My Barbara is waiting for me."

Bardan’s mouth twitched violently.

"My Barbara?" He glared at Leyvi. "She’s my daughter, you brat!"

"Hue hue hue!" Geezer Mallard laughed loudly. "I like this kid. Maybe I should introduce my granddaughter to him."

Leyvi was speechless. He had accidentally taunted the wrong person.

Roman, meanwhile, snorted inwardly.

Hmph. Just because one of your spirit beasts has a stronger bloodline, you think you can act so arrogantly?

"Come out... Killer God! Death Bringer!"

As he shouted, two streaks of light shot out from his spirit beast bag and soared into the sky.

A gigantic hornet and a massive harpy eagle appeared above the battlefield.

The instant the two demonic beasts spread their wings, powerful gusts swept across the barren land.

The harpy eagle’s enormous wings stirred fierce winds with every flap, while the giant hornet’s wings produced a deep, resonant buzzzzzzz that vibrated through the air. The droning hum resembled the relentless beating of a war drum, low and menacing, sending an instinctive sense of unease through anyone who heard it.

Leyvi frowned slightly. Two flying demonic beasts...

He wasn’t sure whether Mr. Bison and Scarlet could effectively deal with airborne opponents. This battle definitely wouldn’t be as straightforward as he had initially expected.

That said...

What kind of names are those? Killer God? Death Bringer? Did this guy raise his spirit beasts just to spread chaos or something?
