I Can Give Talents
Chapter 578 - Barcas and Livana’s Wedding
Chapter 578: Chapter 578 - Barcas and Livana’s Wedding
"That... isn’t that Young Lady Barbara?"
"What’s going on? Why is she hugging that man?"
"Is that man her lover? No way, right?"
"When did this happen? I’ve never seen her being close to any young man besides her brother."
"How surprising. The young master is suddenly getting married, and now the young lady has a lover too."
"Hue hue hue! I remember Brother Bardan saying he would only approve young men of great talent to pursue his daughter. I wonder if this young man has gotten his approval or not?"
"Hopefully not. I want to see some drama."
Leyvi’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch.
His spiritual hearing naturally picked up everything the people around them were saying. Instead of focusing on the upcoming wedding, they seemed far more excited at the chance to see some drama.
What was even more ridiculous was that many of them appeared to know Barbara’s father personally.
Fine. If you want to see drama, I will give you drama. I’m here for Barbara anyway.
Leyvi gently hugged her back and spoke in a clear voice, "My future wife, I missed you too. After the wedding ends, I will propose to your family. Everyone here will be our witness."
The crowd gasped loudly.
"Who is this kid? He’s so daring. But I like it!"
"Hue hue hue! Good job, kid! I’ll support you!"
"Yeah! Go for it! We haven’t seen such a bold young man in a while."
"Show that stubborn Bardan what you’re made of! We will be cheering!"
"Save our pitiful Barbara from that tyrant father!"
Many more voices of support rang out from the crowd.
Leyvi was dumbfounded. He had not expected his action to draw this kind of enthusiastic support from the guests. Weren’t they supposed to be friends with Barbara’s father?
Meanwhile, Barbara was still buried in Leyvi’s arms.
She had hugged him instinctively, but now she had no idea when the right time to let go was.
It was so embarrassing. Everyone was watching her. She personally knew many of the guests here after all. How was she supposed to show her face again after this?
Kajol, Gwen, and the other Spiritual Cultivators standing behind Leyvi looked at one another.
Now that they had witnessed this scene with their own eyes, they no longer had any doubts about Barbara’s relationship with Leyvi.
...
On a private balcony overlooking the wedding avenue, a middle-aged man was fuming.
He repeatedly tried to charge off the balcony, only to be stopped by a valiant, beautiful woman who was noticeably taller than him.
"Honey! Let me go! I’m going to hack that lecherous sex fiend into pieces! How dare he touch my precious daughter in public!" the middle-aged man roared, struggling desperately against the thick metal chains restraining all four of his limbs.
He was none other than Bardan Buchanan, Barbara’s father.
"Not happening." The woman shook her head. "Barbara asked me to keep you under control today. Unless you behave yourself, these chains are staying on you for the entire wedding."
She then added matter-of-factly,
"Besides, it wasn’t that boy who touched her. She was the one who hugged him."
"What? But I’m your husband! Shouldn’t you be on my side?"
"My darling," Barbara’s mother replied with a bubbly giggle that contrasted amusingly with her valiant appearance, "on my priority list, our son and daughter rank higher than you. So today, I’m not on your side. Hehe."
"Honey, you can’t do this to me! Barbara! Let go of that fiend!"
Bardan continued struggling with all his might, but the more he struggled, the tighter the metal chains wrapped around him.
His preference for marrying a woman stronger than himself had completely backfired today.
His wife’s chains were simply not something he could break free from.
Fortunately for Bardan, nobody else knew what was happening on the private balcony.
Otherwise, the guests would have witnessed a very different, thoroughly unscholarly side of the dignified head of the Buchanan Family.
...
"Come, Barbara. Let’s go in." Leyvi said with a smile.
Barbara nodded and finally let go of him. Her face was still flushed red from all the blushing.
"I’ll bring everyone to your seats." she said before leading the way.
Leyvi and the others followed behind her.
Barbara led them to the five frontmost round tables, each capable of seating ten people.
Not only that, their tables and chairs were noticeably more extravagant than the rest.
"Are we the only guests who received golden invitations?" Leyvi asked as he took a seat facing the stage.
Anda sat on his left, while Barbara naturally took the seat on his right.
Since Bodo was simply too large, he had to sit at the very edge. His enormous size attracted plenty of curious glances from the surrounding guests.
"Yes. Everyone else received a normal invitation. It was Brother’s decision." Barbara nodded.
"Hahaha! I’m glad to know at least your brother is on my side." Leyvi laughed.
"Of course he’s on your side. We wouldn’t even be here today if not for you." Barbara smiled before her expression became slightly helpless. "But Dad will definitely make things difficult for you."
"Will he?" Leyvi had already heard several times that Bardan would only allow someone he personally approved of to marry his daughter.
"He will. He’ll test whether you’re worthy or not." Barbara nodded. "I already warned him not to use any dirty tricks, but I’m sure he’ll still find some way to put you at a disadvantage."
Leyvi rubbed his chin.
"Hmm... that’s a problem. If he decides to test my intellect, I’m definitely going to fail."
Barbara couldn’t help but giggle.
Most men tried their best to appear intelligent in front of the women they liked. Leyvi, on the other hand, admitted his weakness without the slightest hesitation.
"Don’t worry. I already made sure Dad tests you on something you’re actually good at. If he cheats, Mom will punish him!" Barbara assured him.
"Punish him? Isn’t your dad a Soul Formation Realm cultivator?" Leyvi asked.
"Hehe. My mom is also a Soul Formation Realm cultivator. In fact, she’s much stronger than Dad. I’ll introduce her to you later." Barbara revealed happily.
After that, Barbara introduced herself to the other members of the Leyan Family. She already knew about Caterina, but seeing her in person still shocked her.
From the energy Caterina naturally emitted, Barbara could tell she was roughly as strong as her mother.
She also spent some time playing with the three adorable babies. Between her little nephew and these three cuties, she couldn’t help but long for children of her own someday. They were simply too adorable.
As more and more guests arrived, the wedding hall gradually filled to capacity.
Seeing that everyone had taken their seats, Barbara excused herself and returned to the backstage area.
Not long afterward, the wedding ceremony officially began.
An officiant stepped onto the center of the grand stage. After introducing himself, he began recounting the history of the Buchanan Family, starting from its founding ancestors.
He spoke of the family’s long history, its many achievements, and the countless contributions it had made to the Cloud Continent over the generations.
Once his introduction concluded, he raised his voice.
"Now, please welcome today’s groom and bride!"
Under the spotlight, Barcas, dressed in an elegant wedding suit, emerged from the left side of the wide stage, accompanied by the male members of the Buchanan Family.
From the opposite side, Livana appeared in a beautiful wedding gown, escorted by the female members of the Buchanan Family. Barbara was among them as well.
Barcas gave Leyvi a happy nod before converging at the center of the stage to face Livana. The height difference between them immediately became apparent to the audience. Barcas was clearly shorter than Livana.
Behind Barcas stood a middle-aged man with a striking resemblance to him, glaring at Leyvi while carrying a one-year-old toddler in his arms. It was the kind of glare that made it obvious he wanted to beat someone up.
Leyvi instantly realized that this man was Barbara’s father, Bardan, while the toddler must be Barcas’ son.
Hahaha. He really doesn’t like me. If he wasn’t holding the toddler, he might’ve already jumped at me.
Leyvi chuckled inwardly while returning Bardan’s glare with a polite smile.
"Hue hue hue. Look at that. Like father, like son. Bardan and his son both have the same taste in women."
Leyvi overheard a guest behind him, prompting him to look toward the women’s side. There, he spotted another tall, valiant-looking woman standing beside Livana. She bore a clear resemblance to Barbara.
"It’s true. Both father and son have the same taste." Leyvi muttered.
Bardan and Barcas were both below average in height, yet they had each married a tall, valiant woman. The guest’s remark couldn’t have been more accurate.
The ceremony continued smoothly. The couple exchanged vows, wedding bands, and a heartfelt kiss.
With that, the officiant officially pronounced them husband and wife.
The entire hall erupted into cheers and applause, congratulating the newlyweds.
Afterward, Livana stepped forward and gave a short speech to the audience before proudly introducing their son, Barcelo Buchanan, to everyone.
When she finished, Barcas took her place.
He recounted what had happened during the Mystic Realm expedition, highlighting the dangers they had faced before expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the Leyan Family.
Without them, he, his sister, his wife, and even his son might not be standing here today.
"Today," Barcas said, his voice carrying throughout the hall, "will not only be a joyous day for me, but also for my sister."
He paused and glanced toward Barbara, who was already blushing.
"During our journey, my sister also fell in love with a man."
He smiled before looking directly at Leyvi.
"And today, that man has come here to ask our family for her hand in marriage."
"Brother Leyvi."
Barcas extended his hand toward the stage with a broad smile.
"I welcome you to the stage."
