Chapter 191: Chapter 134: The Club’s Other Two Shareholders

The sky-high price of 120,000 yuan made the previous bidder wisely shut his mouth. The crowd erupted in an uproar.

There were many ordinary people outside, drawn by the commotion. Most of them didn’t even make 100,000 a year; their annual income was typically around 50,000 or 60,000.

The price of a single fish was equivalent to two years of their salary. For people who had never been exposed to top-tier seafood, it was truly beyond their imagination.

At 120,000, the unit price was nearly 500 yuan per pound. No one else at the scene made a competing offer, and Wang Junhe successfully secured the large fish.

After a good while, the onlookers slowly dispersed. Today had certainly been an eye-opener, giving them plenty to talk about when they got home.

Some of the shop owners settled for second best, buying one of the smaller fish to take back.

"Well done, kid. Did you raid a giant grouper’s den to get this many?" Guo Xiao had just arrived. Walking into the shop, he saw two more Meter Level fish in the pool and several smaller ones in a tank nearby, and couldn’t help but clap Gu Nan on the shoulder.

In his view, getting his hands on so many of these fish was a real feat.

"They aren’t found domestically, but there are plenty of them abroad," Gu Nan said, leading them to a fish tank on the side that was covered by a black cloth. "And I have something today that will really blow you away."

With that, he pulled away the black cloth, revealing a Meter Level Rose Dragon and, next to it, a Sri Lankan Giant Mud Crab the size of a small basin.

"GASP—"

The men beside him, including An Jun who had just been enjoying the show, all gasped sharply.

The basin-sized crab was one thing; domestic fishermen might have occasionally caught one twenty years ago. But a Meter Level Rose Dragon was incredibly rare.

A sixty or seventy-centimeter specimen would be hailed as the largest one online, and a Meter Level one might not appear for several years.

And look at those intact antennae—they had to be at least a meter long.

"President Guo, President Wang, how about you let me have this lobster and crab? If you try to keep them in the same tank as the groupers, they might get eaten in the blink of an eye."

Sheng Shuyun had conceded on the grouper because he knew he couldn’t compete, given Gu Nan’s relationship with Wang Junhe and the others.

But having conceded once was a gesture of goodwill. Now that he was asking, the other two would feel too awkward to compete with him for this.

However, he had underestimated how thick-skinned Wang Junhe was.

"President Sheng, how about this? You let me have the lobster and the crab, but I’ll let you display them at your hotel for a couple of days. Then, I can hold a banquet for my friends at your place. What do you say?"

Sheng Shuyun gave a wry smile. Now that Wang Junhe had spoken, there was really nothing he could do.

Still, at least the creatures would be displayed at his hotel first, which was basically free advertising.

Gu Nan also took the opportunity to chime in, "President Sheng, didn’t you ask me to try and get you fifty Rose Dragons over five pounds each? Well, I’ve managed to get some seven-to-eight-pounders, and even one that’s around ten pounds. You can recommend those to your customers."

Sheng Shuyun’s eyes lit up. Meter Level ones were rare, and so were ten-pounders. Moreover, it sounded like Gu Nan had a good number of the seven-to-eight-pound ones.

Many high-end restaurants required customers to pre-order even for Rose Dragons in the seven-pound class. The restaurant would then have to acquire one through various channels, making the customer wait a long time.

The point was, other suppliers struggled to get even one, whereas Gu Nan casually mentioned having "some." This indirectly spoke volumes about his capabilities; he could probably source quite a few.

As long as his hotel had them in stock, the likelihood of customers choosing them for business banquets would increase dramatically. After all, at his hotel, there was no need to wait!

As luck would have it, a delayed shipment of spider crabs and Spotted Prawn Shrimp finally arrived, along with other seafood to restock the tanks. This delivery had come in a little later than the large groupers.

Seeing that another delivery was arriving at the shop, the men all stood by and watched with great interest.

The fish were nothing special, as the shop was already stocked with similar types.

The Spotted Prawn Shrimp and spider crabs, however, were an unexpected surprise. After asking for the price, Sheng Shuyun bought the entire lot on the spot. They would sell like hotcakes at his hotel; it was a no-brainer.

The past two months had been the off-season for catching Emperor Crabs and snow crabs, which had driven up their cost significantly.

Although the restaurant’s prices would rise accordingly, some customers would become hesitant to order.

These spider crabs were priced under 300 yuan each. The smaller ones weighed three pounds, while the larger ones were four to five pounds, making them a perfect substitute for Emperor Crabs.

Thirty wasn’t enough. Sheng Shuyun placed an advance order for another seventy. He wanted to see how this batch sold before deciding whether to increase his future order volume.

It was the same story for the Spotted Prawn Shrimp. They sold even better than spider crabs, so Sheng Shuyun said he would take as many as Gu Nan could possibly supply.

The other Meter Level groupers in the tank were all snapped up as well.

If he let such prime goods go to someone else, Sheng Shuyun wouldn’t deserve to be in his current position.

Gu Nan’s jaw dropped. ’I haven’t even started my sales pitch, and not only am I now on the hook for another seventy spider crabs, but all my other stock is gone too?’

After these "big-spending bosses" had all left, everyone except Gu Nan—An Jun, Yi Chen, and Jin Enfei alike—looked completely dazed.

’In just that short amount of time, they had sold several hundred thousand yuan worth of seafood?’

They were only snapped out of it by the CLACK-CLACK-CLACK of Gu Nan punching numbers into a calculator at the counter.

An Jun marched right over and grabbed his arm. "There’s no way you’re not treating us tonight! That was hundreds of thousands of yuan!"

"In your dreams. You see that those groupers sold for 210,000, but the fish themselves cost me 100,000. Add in the high shipping fees and import taxes, and I only made about seventy or eighty thousand."

Of course, Gu Nan was just bluffing. His invoice did indeed list the cost of goods and shipping, but all he had actually paid for was the freight from customs to the shop and the subsequent taxes.
