Chapter 91: Chapter 87: Network Admin No. 2!
"What happened?" Su Tan had an ominous premonition.
THUMP, THUMP, THUMP!
The Monk remained silent, his footsteps echoing with heavy THUDS as he moved forward. The footsteps ceased for a few seconds. Su Tan heard the scraping sound of objects being moved. He wondered if the Monk was looking through something.
SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK.
A moment later, even the scraping stopped. Dead silence fell.
Su Tan heard the Monk’s voice again.
"It’s over, it’s over... We’re completely doomed this time!"
THUD!
Su Tan heard the Monk plop down on the ground. His voice carried a mix of confusion, terror, and fear. He was completely panicked.
"No... how is this possible... no, no... how is this possible... It can’t be stopped. It’s over, it’s over... Those beasts, they had this planned all along... Taking advantage of my absence, they actually launched a fierce attack on the cage’s barriers... It’s over... What do I do... What do I do...
"It’s over... The Void God Realm is finished... and the real world will be too!
"Everything is over!
"Great Emperor... I have failed you!"
His heart turning cold, the Monk collapsed limply on the ground and actually burst out crying, WAAAH, WAAAH! He sobbed like an oversized child.
"What exactly happened? Can you explain it more clearly?" Su Tan asked again. This guy kept wailing that it was over but refused to explain what was actually going on, which was incredibly annoying to listen to.
WHOOSH!
He expanded his Overlord Body Realm, sensing the space within a three-meter radius. He found that this place was extremely vast. Aside from the floor, the rest of his Realm’s coverage was completely empty. The floor itself was made of an unknown material, carved with ancient symbols. They looked like words, yet also resembled primitive runes, exuding a majestic and grand aura. Only after walking forward a distance did he manage to sweep his senses over the Monk’s body.
"To tell you the truth, the cage’s barriers suppressing the Yin Demons have encountered a problem. The Void God Realm won’t be able to hold them for much longer. Once they break through the Yin Demon Prison, given time, they will also escape the Void God Realm and invade the real world!" the Monk said.
"Didn’t you say that as long as we opened the door to the management room and reinforced the defenses, the problem would be solved? Why has it come to this?" Su Tan asked.
"It was supposed to be like that, but who knew... During these two months when I couldn’t enter the management room, those beasts somehow managed to beat the defensive walls into a sieve... Now, let alone me, even if a Great Emperor or Human Emperor came, it couldn’t be restored!" the Monk said. "Those Yin Demons will squeeze through the loopholes one by one to escape the Yin Demon Prison and enter the Marching Battlefield, an uninhabited zone adjacent to the prison."
"Isn’t there still another locked area?" the Little White Wolf asked.
"The barriers in the Marching Battlefield area aren’t strong. Their defense isn’t on the same level as the Yin Demon Prison’s at all. If the Strongest within the Yin Demon Prison take action, the defensive Array will collapse in just a few months!
"That place wasn’t specifically built to hold prisoners. It’s a battlefield—the very last battlefield where the ancients drove the Yin Demons into the prison. I don’t know how much effort the ancients spent to trick the Yin Demon Race into coming here, nor how much power they expended to force the Yin Demons into the Prison World. And now, they’re actually about to escape the Void God Realm... Sigh... I have failed the Great Emperors’ trust!"
Su Tan paused, not knowing what to say. He replied helplessly, "I am truly sorry... I didn’t know that key was so crucial!"
The Monk was completely discouraged, deflated like a punctured balloon. "What’s the use of saying this now?" he said. "Never mind, never mind... It’s actually not your fault. I brought this upon myself by messing with you. Besides... even if the key hadn’t been lost, I was still inside the Divine Mansion this time and couldn’t have done anything anyway. There are Strongest among the Yin Demons. They’ve bided their time for years, likely sensing that the current real world has no Great Power presiding over it, which is why they suddenly erupted now... This is no longer about the key... It’s the Yin Demons’ layout, a premeditated plot. We are powerless...
"Sigh, the Strongest Yin Demons are willing to pay the price of slumbering for hundreds, even thousands of years, just to shatter the barriers... This time, they come with ill intent, bearing vengeance and resentment. I can’t even imagine what kind of retaliation they’ll unleash once they enter the real world..."
"Even if the Strongest Yin Demons have fallen into slumber, the real world still can’t fend them off?" Su Tan asked.
"Even with the Strongest Yin Demons asleep, it’s still not enough! Although the loopholes in the barriers are currently small and the escaping Yin Demons aren’t very strong, the issue is that... there are simply too many of them. The Yin Demons’ overall strength is relatively high. If unleashed into the outside world, they would still be a force of despair!" the Monk said. "I don’t believe... that the people of this world can fend off the Yin Demons’ attack."
Yin Demons... The sheer quantity... The Void God Realm... Had the Strongest Yin Demons failed to escape the Yin Demon Prison because they had already fallen asleep?
For some reason, Su Tan had a strange affliction: the more tense the situation, the calmer his mind became. He remained composed, linking all these clues together as he fell into deep thought. He wanted to find a solution to remedy the situation, rather than running away from it.
"Is it possible to block all the Yin Demons directly within the Marching Battlefield?" Su Tan said with a frown. "The powerful Yin Demons can’t get out, leaving only the small fry to emerge. If we can trap them all in the Marching Battlefield and eliminate them... wouldn’t that solve the problem?"
"Impossible... There are too many Yin Demons. With just the strength of the two of us, going there would only leave us without even bones remaining."
"No, no, no, you misunderstood what I meant. What I’m saying is that we should guide all the cultivators from the nine regions of the Void God Realm into the Marching Battlefield. Let all the cultivators in the world contribute their strength to protect their own homeland," Su Tan suggested.
Hearing this, the Monk’s eyes lit up, but they quickly dimmed again.
"That is a good idea, but... you underestimate human nature.
"If there were Emperor Level beings in the real world, with a Great Emperor’s ability to unite everyone, they could definitely organize the power of the Ten Thousand Races to mount a resistance...
"But...
"Currently, there is no expert capable of holding the Ten Thousand Races in check. Even if we rallied them to fight together in the name of saving the world, it wouldn’t stop them from harboring hidden agendas... they would end up hurting each other, and some might even switch sides at the last moment.
"If they knew the truth, some races would directly release the Yin Demons to curry favor with the Yin Demon Race, hoping that when the Yin Demons eventually appear in the real world, they would be spared. Don’t doubt me; there are people who would scramble to do exactly that! It could directly cause the cultivator alliance of the real world to collapse without even a fight! After all... the Yin Demons have the Strongest on their side!"
It was true. The Yin Demons were far too terrifying, which would inevitably breed thoughts of surrender.
Su Tan thought for a moment. "Then... what if we don’t tell those cultivators the truth?" he said.
"Oh?"
"We can treat it like a Secret Realm, an instance dungeon game, and promote it as such. We can make them think it’s just a game and lure the cultivators in to kill the enemies..." Saying this, Su Tan’s expression shifted in sudden realization. "Right, right... Have you ever heard of a behind-the-scenes boss?"
"What behind-the-scenes boss?" The Monk looked completely bewildered.
"It doesn’t matter if you haven’t. In their eyes, the Void God Realm is already just a Virtual World anyway. For a Virtual World to host an online virtual game, isn’t that perfectly normal? We could... turn this into a game and let players come in to play... Cultivators don’t truly die in the Void God Realm anyway... If we can utilize this setting, the Yin Demon crisis... might just be solved!" Su Tan said.
The Monk looked at Su Tan seriously, observing him for a long, long time! This man’s ideas were always as wild and unconstrained as Celestial Horses soaring through the sky. However... this actually seemed workable.
After a while, the look in the Monk’s eyes changed again, as if he were making a decision. He said, "Seeing how dedicated, responsible, and clever you are, and considering your excellent suggestions... to be honest, we have no chance of winning this war. But... we still have to try."
This unprovoked praise gave Su Tan a bad feeling. He felt like this guy was trying to set a trap for him again.
"How about this? To better utilize the rules of the Void God Realm in response to this war, and to help you realize your plan, I feel that you must thoroughly understand the Void God Realm and make use of its resources. Therefore, I’ve decided to give you the position of Void God Realm Administrator. From now on, I will be Administrator One, and you will be Administrator Two. You’ll be able to utilize some of the Void God Realm’s functions," the Monk said.
Su Tan: ???
He wasn’t happy about this at all. "Why do I get the feeling... that you think there’s absolutely no chance of winning this war and are afraid of being blamed later, so you’re making me Administrator Two just to pass the buck???"
The Monk stumbled slightly. Putting on a serious face, he said, "Nothing of the sort. How could that be? I recognized your talent and aptitude, which is why I made an exception to let you become Void God Realm Administrator Two. How could it be just to find someone to take the blame? Am I that kind of person?"
