Chapter 588: A New Body, A New Soul II

  • Next Chapter

Lian slowly opened his eyes.

The red light of the underground hall fell on his face, and for a few seconds, his gaze remained fixed on the calm flow of the river.

He felt that his body had become unusually light, but this lightness did not come from losing weight or becoming weaker.

On the contrary, when he clenched his fingers, the power flowing through the muscles of his forearm was far greater than he had expected.

Even without activating any skills, he could feel the difference, however, what caught his attention the most were the two blue windows in front of him.

[ You have successfully formed an Indestructible Body ]

[ You have successfully formed a Soul of Nine Dragons ]

He looked at the messages for a few seconds.

"Well..."

The corner of his mouth rose slightly.

"Finally, I can see the results."

He had expected the blood of a creature at the Demon rank to have a significant effect on his body.

Even before entering the river, he had known that refining his body and soul could help him overcome limits that could not be removed through stats alone.

But two separate achievements? And with names like these?

The young Vorhelm selected the first window, and more information appeared in front of him.

[ Indestructible Body ]

[ Completion: 20%. ]

[ Effects: Physical Strength Increased by 250%, Physical Defense Increased by 250%, Damage Taken from Physical Attacks Reduced by 25%, Body’s Natural Healing Speed Increased by up to 250% ]

[ All internal organs, muscles, bones, and physical pathways have undergone structural refinement ]

[ The resistance of vital organs, natural tissue recovery, physical endurance, and stability of mana channels have greatly increased ]

[ The body’s structure is moving toward the physical quality of superior races, including True Dragons. ]

[ Every 20% increase in completion multiplies all effects of the Indestructible Body by ten ]

[ At full completion, the owner’s body will become completely immune to all known and unknown forms of physical damage ]

[ When the Indestructible Body reaches 100% completion, as long as even a single cell or even a single atom remains, the body can quickly rebuild itself ]

[ Note: Final immunity does not include conceptual powers, non-physical attacks, or forces that exist beyond the level of the body’s structure ]

Lian remained motionless for a few moments, then looked at the first number again.

Twenty percent?

Did that mean everything he had endured over the past month had only completed one-fifth of this process?

He had expected refining the dragon blood to increase the strength of his bones and the resistance of his skin and muscles, perhaps even raising his body’s quality beyond that of most Awakened in the First Evolution.

But the system’s explanation showed something much greater, the Indestructible Body was not simply a temporary enhancement.

His entire physical structure had changed, and it could even reach a point where it fully achieved an indestructible state.

He turned his attention toward his own body.

The flow of blood through his veins, the contraction of his muscles, and even the movement of mana along his internal pathways were clearer to him than before.

His bones could withstand greater pressure, his muscles could produce more force, and his internal organs were no longer as vulnerable to heavy blows as they had been before.

Even his body’s natural recovery had improved, although this did not mean that healing was free or unlimited, his body still needed energy to repair damaged tissues.

But his natural healing speed had increased by up to 250%.

His gaze moved to the description of physical damage reduction.

Twenty-five percent.

This effect was different from a direct increase in defense.

Even if an attack passed through his body’s natural defenses, part of its physical damage would still be reduced by his new body structure.

And when he considered this together with the 250% increase in defense...

His smile grew slightly wider.

He already had the World-Devourer Bastion, the Molten Bastion Body, and the Black Wing Armor.

Now, even his body without armor was much more durable, of course, this did not mean he could stand against every attack.

Lian still clearly remembered how the Essence of the End had destroyed part of his defensive structure without needing to overcome his usual resistance.

Powers of that kind would not become harmless just because he had a more durable body.

But against physical attacks? This was an incredible achievement.

However, the most important sentence in the description was still waiting for him.

Every 20% increase in completion multiplied the power of the Indestructible Body by ten.

If the description was correct, this structure had already reached such power at its current stage.

At forty percent, the power of the structure itself would increase tenfold.

Sixty percent? Another tenfold increase, and the same process would continue until it reached one hundred percent.

Lian slowly breathed out.

If he could really complete such a structure, his body would no longer be comparable to that of an ordinary human, even the word indestructible would no longer seem like much of an exaggeration.

"Of course, first I need to figure out how I’m supposed to complete the remaining eighty percent."

He checked the information once more, but the current description did not provide exact details about the resources required for the later stages.

It seemed the system had only identified the results of the refinement.

He closed the window.

Then he turned his attention to his second achievement.

[ Golden Nine-Dragon Soul ]

[ Completion: 20%. ]

[ Effects: Soul Attack Power Increased by 250%, Soul Defense Increased by 250%, Soul’s Natural Recovery Speed Against Soul Attacks Increased by 250% ]

[ The Nine Dragon Guardians are guardians responsible for protecting the main structure of the soul ]

[ All energy flows entering and leaving the soul are examined by the guardians, and when necessary, their paths are adjusted, guided, or redirected ]

[ Offensive Ability: The Nine Dragons can carry out a devastating and deadly soul attack against a target at their master’s command ]

[ Attack Power and Effectiveness depend on the master’s soul power, the target’s soul resistance, and the difference in rank between both sides ]

[ Every 20% increase in completion multiplies the power of the Golden Nine-Dragon Soul by ten ]

[ Final Evolution: Soul of the Nine Dragon Emperors ]

[ At full completion, the owner’s soul will gain near-absolute immunity to soul damage and soul attacks ]

[ The soul will become immortal, and nothing will be able to destroy your soul ]

This time, Lian looked at the window for a longer time, the 250% increase in both soul attack power and defense was already a major achievement.

But Nine Dragon Guardians? And they could examine the energy flows entering and leaving his soul?

This part seemed much more interesting.

He closed his eyes, separated his awareness from his surroundings, and directed it toward the depths of his own soul.

The sound of the river slowly faded away, and the pressure of the hot air in the hall also disappeared from his senses, and for a moment, everything was dark.

Then golden points appeared in the distance.

At first, there were only a few of them, but gradually, their numbers increased and filled the inner space of his soul with a soft light.

He raised his gaze.

At that moment, the sound of a deep roar echoed through the space, it was not like the roar of the Demon of End, but this one had a different feeling, heavy and powerful, yet without the familiar violence and hatred.

A huge shadow passed through the golden lights.

A large dragon covered in golden scales of light appeared before him.

Its body was long and powerful, and every time it moved, lines of soul energy remained along its flight path.

But before he could examine its structure carefully, another dragon emerged from the golden light.

Then a third, a fourth, and finally, nine huge golden dragons flew around the main structure of Lian’s soul.

For a few seconds, he simply watched the sight.

The dragons moved along different paths, but there were no collisions or disturbances between them. Each one covered a part of the space around his soul, and their movements were coordinated with those of the other eight dragons.

Golden light separated from their scales and then returned to the main structure of his soul.

Lian carefully examined one of them, but he could not sense any independent awareness, there was no separate will, nor was there a connection like the Hive Link.

These dragons were not living creatures, it could be said that they had now become part of his own soul.
