Chapter 555: Out Of Control ( Castle Bonus Chapter )
The noise immediately grew louder, and one of the representatives of the other Guilds stood up from his seat.
"Today you accuse the Primal Firmament because we have an artifact, what about tomorrow? Because one of our artifacts has the ability to create poison, will every poisoning murder become our work?"
"If this becomes accepted, none of us will have any political safety!" a representative of another Guild said.
"Interesting that the eleven Guilds suddenly remembered that they are all brothers." one of the Grandalz members replied mockingly.
The man turned toward him.
"At least when our shared interests are involved, we know how to stand together."
That sentence had a greater effect than he might have wanted.
"That is exactly the problem." one of the Blackthorn members said.
Now the voices became louder.
"You divided the resources of the Heavenly Realm as if they were your personal property."
"Because our forces conquered those areas." a representative of one of the Guilds replied.
"With equipment that a large part of our industries built for you six families!"
"But our people were the ones who died!"
"As if the families have no forces there." one of the Blackthorn members said angrily.
"How many of your spoiled heirs died to take those lands?" the Guild representative said mockingly.
A chair moved back with a loud sound, and a man from the Blackthorn section stood up.
Mana came out from around his body for a moment, and at the same time, two people from the Guilds also stood up.
One of the Valemonts said something, and Stormheart answered.
In less than a minute, the discussion about who had carried out the two attacks was almost lost.
Now the subject was something else.
Resources, the power of the Heavenly Realm, ownership rights, the influence of the Federation, the Guilds’ control over certain things, and the pride of the families and powers that had built their positions without family bloodlines.
All the hatred that had been kept under the negotiation tables for years had now found a way to come out.
Lian watched from the back seat of the hall.
For a moment, he seriously thought that if someone from outside entered, they probably would not believe that these were the same people who controlled a large part of the world.
Of course, from their own point of view? Almost every one of them had something to say, and that was the dangerous part.
Another pressure started to form, this time from one of the Guild representatives, and the answer came from one of the family elders.
Before either of them could fully release it, a calm voice spread through the hall.
"Enough." Rhaenar said calmly, with his palm on the table.
Just that.
But the Manas that were rising one after another suddenly disappeared.
The Blackthorn man slowly sat down, and the Guild representatives did the same, everyone knew where they were.
A verbal disagreement was one thing, starting a fight in the heart of Verendal?
That meant crossing a line that Rhaenar probably would not allow anyone to cross and remain alive.
He looked around the hall coldly.
"Anyone who wants to argue can argue, but anyone who wants to fight can do it outside my city."
No one answered, but the silence lasted only a few seconds.
The discussion started again, and this time without Mana, but the violence continued through words.
Lian slightly leaned his head against the back of the chair, at first, he himself had almost been convinced.
The Thousand Faces Mirror was exactly what was needed for such attacks.
The Primal Firmament had access to real examples of Vorhelm and Stormheart abilities, they had the necessary influence, and they also had a political motive.
If someone had asked him a few minutes ago who the most likely suspect was, he probably would have said the same name.
But then Severin had spoken, and the worst part was that his argument was not stupid either.
From the point of view of the Twelve Guilds, the Six Great Families had been trying for years to take a larger share of the Heavenly Realm.
If the Primal Firmament was dragged into a huge scandal and the unity of the Guilds came under pressure, the families would benefit.
So why should they not think that all of this had been designed to hurt them?
Lian moved his eyes between the two sides of the hall.
The families and the Guilds, both sides thought they were defending themselves against the other.
On one hand, it was truly possible that the Six Great Families had done it because they wanted to suppress the Twelve Guilds, how could he know that this really was not their conspiracy?
He had never been involved in the politics of the Six Great Families, but he knew how ruthless they were, and this was a plan they were truly capable of carrying out.
And everything was too clean, for example, in the first murder the evidence said Stormheart, and then Stormheart was cleared.
The second attack put the blame on Vorhelm, and then Vorhelm was cleared, the next question was completely natural, who could copy both?
The answer? The Primal Firmament and their famous artifact, the Thousand Faces Mirror.
But if the Primal Firmament was really behind all of this, why would they use a method that would eventually lead everyone directly to their only famous artifact?
They were not stupid.
They were the strongest Ancient Guild in the world, they had fought for centuries, negotiated, and learned about governments, families, and their own rivals.
If their goal was to make Stormheart and Vorhelm fight with the others, the final part of the plan should not have been something that forced all the experienced people present to say the same name.
Unless they wanted to be discovered, but if they wanted to be discovered, then why show the two families as the culprits in the first place?
They could have attacked directly, they could have left a message, or they could have threatened them in another way.
This chain of events was too obvious for someone who wanted to hide themselves.
And it was too complicated for someone who wanted to reveal themselves, so the third possibility? This was a conspiracy by the Six Great Families.
Lian looked around the hall again.
The men who had been sitting beside each other during the ceremony that morning were now talking about ownership of resources, global control, and betrayal.
Severin’s voice was heard again.
"You know the Thousand Faces Mirror very well yourselves, that artifact was brought out of the Heavenly Realm more than fifteen years ago."
"Since then, every important use of it has been recorded, its location has been recorded, and even the people who are allowed to get close to it are known."
"Records can be changed." one of the family representatives said mockingly.
Severin gave a small laugh.
"So now all records that help us can be changed, but the records that are against us are absolute truth?"
The discussion became louder again, but Lian felt that this discussion had no good ending and had turned into complete chaos.
Whoever was behind these murders was truly succeeding in starting a world war between the two sides.
The meeting continued for almost another hour.
The result? Almost nothing.
The Primal Firmament refused to accept even the smallest responsibility.
The other eleven Guilds also announced that as long as there was no direct evidence, they would not allow one of their own to be isolated based on political guesses.
The Six Great Families also refused to remove the possibility of Guild involvement, in fact, they were now even more certain than before that this matter was connected to the Guilds.
Rhaenar did not allow anyone to leave the city.
The Guilds requested that all their members gather in specific areas and have joint security forces.
The families did almost the same thing, and the trust between the great powers of the world had been cut in half in less than one day.
Lian remained in his seat.
First Stormheart, then Vorhelm, and now the Primal Firmament, every time, the evidence had appeared in a way that almost placed the answer directly in front of everyone.
That was the problem because good evidence usually led people to an answer, this evidence seemed to be trying to force the answer into their mouths.
And every time, the answer placed another great power of the world against the others.
He moved his eyes over the people present, his brain was no longer working either and he had no idea, from his point of view, either side could have carried out this conspiracy and each had its own reasons.
Before he could think about it any further, a strong red light above the main door of the hall turned on.
All conversations stopped, and one of the Pendragon commanders entered the hall almost at that exact moment.
The commander looked at the people around the table for one second and then spoke directly to the Patriarch.
"Several powerful presences have appeared outside the borders of Verendal."
"How many?" Isolde slightly frowned.
"It is not clear yet, but the defense system has identified at least five people at the Overlord level."
A heavy silence filled the hall.
Five Overlords.
Outside a city where almost all the most important powers in the world were currently trapped.
"And it seems they were sent here by several great powers of the world."
Lian slowly moved his eyes toward the tall window of the hall, so the news had already left Verendal.
Rhaenar stood up from his seat.
The Guild members looked at each other, and the family elders also became silent, the matter was no longer just a few accusations and a murder case.
Peak powers were sending forces to the gates of Verendal.
Lian slowly breathed out.
Apparently, whoever was behind this game had achieved results much faster than he had expected.
The situation was getting out of control.
