I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 547: From Now On, No One Leaves The City
Birds flew into the sky from all the towers around them, the flags were pulled backward by the wave of air that passed over the field.
And at that exact moment, the sixth ring lit up, its golden light was even brighter than the previous five rings.
Letters much larger than before appeared above the altar.
[Ancestral Dragon Mark.]
[Sixth Grade.]
For perhaps two seconds, no one reacted.
Even some of the elders who had probably lived for decades only stared at the altar.
Then the sound came.
First from the Pendragon section...and then the entire field, applause rose like a huge wave.
The sound of thousands of hands hitting together and the shouts of Seris’s name could be heard.
Even some of the outside representatives stood up without hiding their admiration.
Only the Vorhelms and the other six families and some members of the twelve ancient associations remained in their seats and did not stand.
They did not need to applaud anyone, and besides, applauding the genius of a rival family did not make sense.
Lian continued looking at the center of the altar, the light from the Dragon Mark entered Seris’s hand and golden lines formed on the back of her right hand.
But they were much more complex than the Marks he had seen before.
The head of a dragon, a body that wrapped around part of her hand, and two open wings whose thin lines continued almost to her wrist.
For a moment, it seemed as if the Mark was alive and the golden lines inside it moved, then they slowly became still.
The image of the dragon in the sky also slowly disappeared and the lights came down.
She removed her hand from the Mark.
Rhaenar gave a very small smile, of course, he was not surprised, as if he had seen more of something he had expected.
Isolde, however, did not hide it, satisfaction and pride were clear in her eyes.
Seris first looked at the two of them, then slightly lowered her head.
Then her gaze moved, first toward the family section, then among the guests and once again toward Lian.
This time, no one could say it was a coincidence, her gaze was direct, he answered her gaze and a very faint smile appeared on his face.
It was not enough for everyone to see from a distance, but Seris saw it, because the cold expression on her face became slightly softer for a moment.
And that alone was enough for several young Pendragons who had been watching her throughout the entire ceremony to have hostility appear in their eyes again.
Lian felt Caelen’s gaze, which contained killing intent, even from the other side of the field, but he ignored it.
The applause did not last long, the ceremony had to continue, Seris stepped back from the center of the altar, but she still remained near the Mark.
Rhaenar stood up from his seat.
Everyone knew what important part remained, the results of the Marks had been decided and now it was time to announce the heir of the next generation.
The ceremony host also stepped back, from this moment onward, the Patriarch himself would speak.
But before he even had a chance to speak, a voice from one of the great family sections interrupted him.
"Stop the ceremony!"
Almost all heads turned at the same time, they wanted to see which idiot had dared to interrupt the words of a Celestial.
And it was the Valemont section, one of the six great families.
A middle-aged man with dark gray hair had said it, he was wearing formal dark blue clothes with the symbol of a white tower on them.
Gregor Valemont, the leader of the delegation that had been sent.
One of his guards was standing beside him.
The guard’s face had lost its normal color and it was clear that he had told Gregor some news a few seconds earlier.
The atmosphere of the field changed in an instant and the entire situation became chaotic, they were not stupid enough to think that someone had simply gone crazy.
If someone, especially a representative of a great family, had dared to interrupt a Celestial before he could speak, then something had definitely happened.
Rhaenar did not even frown, as if he did not care about the insult, he only moved his gaze toward Gregor.
"Did something happen?"
His tone had the same calmness as always.
But everyone present knew that interrupting such a ceremony without a reason was not something that could simply be ignored.
Gregor came down from his section, his steps were fast.
"A problem?"
His voice was heavy with controlled anger.
"One of the members of my delegation was killed inside your city less than ten minutes ago!"
An immediate murmur spread across the field and several other representatives looked toward their own people.
Even Lian looked surprised.
"Where?" Rhaenar asked, but there was no calmness left anymore, instead, there was a coldness as deep as the ocean in his eyes.
"Inside the accommodation that your family itself provided for us."
This time, even several main members of the Pendragon family changed their expressions, the official guest accommodations inside the area were under the complete protection of the Pendragons.
A murder in the street was one thing, a murder inside the official accommodation of a great family was something else.
Gregor continued.
"No security seal was broken, and no intrusion warning was recorded either."
Isolde, without standing from her place, turned her head toward one of the commanders beside the stage, said a few short sentences, and the commander immediately moved.
Three security groups quietly left the field.
"Is the cause of death known?" the Patriarch asked.
This time, Gregor remained silent for a few seconds, his jaw was tight, then his gaze moved away from the Patriarch and slowly went toward another section of the field.
Stormheart.
The people of that family understood almost immediately why he was looking at them.
One of their elders frowned.
"My people checked the place, the remaining Mana traces on the body are clear, what was used was one of their skills."
"Watch your words, Gregor." One of the Stormheart members stood up from his seat.
"Shut up! Do you think we don’t know that you bastards have been plotting behind our backs because of the northern mines in the newly obtained areas in the Heavenly Realm?"
Complete silence filled the place, everyone looked at each other and tried to understand what had suddenly happened.
Lian moved his gaze between the two sections.
Valemont.
Stormheart.
The members of both families were now sitting in a completely different way from a few seconds ago.
Some had their hands tightly gripping the armrests, some had their eyes fixed directly on the opposing side.
Some representatives of the twelve ancient associations began exchanging short whispers with their companions.
Rhaenar said nothing for several seconds, among all the people present, perhaps he was the only one who had completely kept the same calm as before, although there was coldness in it.
His gaze remained on Gregor first, then Stormheart, and then he slowly checked the entire field.
When he spoke, his voice was not loud, but everyone heard it.
"From this moment, no one leaves Verendal."
