I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 536: The Invitation From the Pendragon Family
Lian opened the door and for a few seconds, he only looked at the scene in front of him.
Kain was wearing a formal white and gold outfit.
A long robe decorated with a sun symbol on the shoulders, with a bright belt around his waist..
Elara was standing beside him, and from her expression, it was clear that this outfit was completely suitable for the ceremony.
Cassia entered behind he and looked at Kain, then smiled.
"Don’t say anything." Kain immediately pointed his finger at Lian.
He entered the room.
"I didn’t say anything."
"Your face is talking again."
"The clothes are completely suitable for the status of the Child of Light." Elara said without looking at the young Vorhelm.
"Do you see what I’m dealing with?"
"It was your choice to come."
This time, Kain paused and then his expression became more serious.
"Actually, that’s what I wanted to talk about."
Lian looked at him.
Cassia and Elara both became silent.
"I want to stay here for a while, until now, most of the things I learned about Light were either things I understood by myself, or things I learned through training and fighting, even after changing my class and becoming the Child of Light, I’m still doing half of the things through trial and error."
He moved the Light between his fingers.
"There are people here who have kept hundreds of years of knowledge about Light, not just shooting it, but controlling it, increasing its density, bending it, reflecting it, healing with it, using Light inside arrays... they even have methods that I didn’t know were possible."
Kain turned off the Light.
"If I return now, I’m an idiot."
"Then stay." Lian said without hesitation.
"That’s it?"
"You have a good reason, and you won’t find a better place than this."
He himself, if he found a place where he could directly get information about the Monster Class, he would probably make the same decision.
"What about you?" Kain asked.
This time, the young Vorhelm did not answer for a few seconds, he remembered an invitation that had been sitting in the corner of his mind for some time.
The Pendragon Family and their Heir Selection Ceremony, and most importantly, Seris.
The girl herself had invited him.
It had not been long since the last time Lian had seen her.
However, when he thought about returning now, he realized that something more than the ceremony itself made him want to go.
He wanted to see Seris.
The thought was so simple that it felt strange to him, he could not remember ever missing someone before.
He paused on this feeling for a few moments, it was not unpleasant, and it was not something he wanted to deny.
It was just an unfamiliar feeling.
"I have to go back."
"Do you have something important to do?" Kain looked at him suspiciously.
Lian only nodded and avoided giving any more explanation.
The decision was made.
Kain would stay in Region Three for a while and learn how far the talent of the Child of Light could really go.
"Take care of yourself." The young Vorhelm said to him before leaving.
Kain nodded.
"Of course."
"And if one day you realize that being the Child of Light is turning into a golden prison, tell me before it is too late."
Elara, who was standing a few steps away, looked at Lian with clear dissatisfaction.
Cassia, however, could not completely hide her smile.
The Child of Light thought for a moment and then asked with a smile.
"Will you come with One and Two to save me?"
"If you stop giving them stupid names, definitely."
"Good. Then I can relax."
"No one intends to imprison the Child of Light." Elara finally said.
Kain gave her a short look and said sarcastically.
"Good. Then we will never have to find out how many hits that giant ant needs to break the doors here."
Lian decided that before the argument really started, it was a good time to leave.
[Do you want to return to your own world?]
He chose Yes, and the space around his body changed, the white and gold image of the room slowly stretched.
Then everything disappeared.
Silence.
Lian blinked several times and looked around, he had returned to the dormitory room.
The first thing he saw after that was his phone, it was not turned off and still had charge, it had only been left on the table and its screen was full of notifications.
When he picked it up, the number of messages was more than he expected.
News.
Personal messages.
Academy notifications.
Several missed calls.
But one of the messages immediately caught his attention.
Sender:
Aurelia Pendragon (Aurelia Pendragon).
With one look, he understood that it was the official invitation to the ceremony and it had been sent to him last week, fortunately, the date of the ceremony was two days later and he had not missed it.
The invitation was short but formal, Lian’s name was registered as one of the direct guests of the family.
Seris had personally invited him before, and now the official invitation had also arrived.
He looked at the screen for a few seconds.
Only two.
An image of Seris appeared in his mind, her silver hair and that cold look, the serious tone she used even when she said something normal, as if she was giving an order.
And again, that same feeling of missing her, he missed her, it would not be wrong to say that the girl had been beside him since the first day of his adventures in the Ruined Realm.
Then he opened the news page, his smile quickly disappeared, the first headline was about a new Rift, then a second and a third.
Lian quickly went through several news reports, the number of Rifts had increased during the past few weeks.
Not the normal yearly increase, but a kind of sudden jump.
One report showed a map of the Earth, with new red points spread across several regions of the world.
Two major European cities had fallen.
In one of them, several Rifts had opened almost at the same time, and the local forces had been forced to evacuate a large part of the city before support arrived.
The second city was in a worse situation, parts of it were still under the control of monsters.
Three major cities in Asia had also gone out of control, one after a high-level Rift and two because of several events happening at the same time.
And in Africa, another city had fallen.
He opened one of the images, burned buildings, Federation temporary walls, and columns of smoke could be seen.
People were leaving the area by buses and cars, and people were sitting on the ground beside ambulances.
Part of the city was marked in red on the map.
He only looked at it for a while and remembered Gareth’s words, the increase in Rifts and the increasing pressure on the Federation and the Guilds.
What had still looked more like a worrying trend than a crisis at that time was no longer just a possibility, it was happening.
And if the speed continued to increase like this, the six cities would not be the last cases.
Lian opened several more news reports, armies were being moved and the Federation had divided emergency forces between the continents.
Several Hunter bases had canceled their general missions to keep forces ready to respond to the Rifts.
While he had been searching for answers in the Ruined Realm, the situation in his own world had become worse.
Lian closed the news and returned to the message list, several messages were related to the Academy, two were from people he knew, and then a name made his finger stop.
His uncle.
The message only had one sentence.
"I’m glad you came back safely, it seems their plan failed."
Lian remained completely still for a few seconds, his eyes fixed on one word.
"Their plan."
Not:
"What happened?"
Not:
"I heard the Special Area was dangerous."
He slowly sat on the edge of the bed and his mind returned to the last day of the Special Area.
And all the things his brother, Darian, had said above him when he thought Lian was dead, at that time, it had only been a guess that his stepmothers might have sent this boy to kill him.
And now, considering his uncle’s message, he could say that his guess had been completely correct.
Lian read the message again.
Once.
Twice.
There was no other explanation, it was possible that his uncle had learned the truth after everything was over.
But the way the message was written... it did not seem like that, it sounded more like someone who had been waiting for the result from the beginning, and there was also his previous message that seemed like he wanted to warn him.
He opened the number and his finger stayed on the call button for a few moments.
There was no time for guessing anymore, it was time to ask directly about this.
His finger moved down and the call was connected, and fortunately, it did not take long for him to get an answer.
"It has been a while, my dear nephew."
