Chapter 533: The Prophecy

"Lord Orlian is ready to see you." The priest’s voice came from behind the door.

Kain stood beside the balcony for a few seconds, looking at the bright city below.

Then he let out a short sigh and stepped away from the railing.

"Finally."

The door opened.

The priest who had accompanied them from Silent Light this time wore clean clothes.

He lowered his head respectfully.

"This way, Child of Light and your respected companion."

Kain frowned for a moment, he still was not used to that title, it would probably take some time.

Lian also stood up and followed them.

The main headquarters of the ruler of Region Three was not built at the highest part of the city.

He had expected the building where the ruler of one of the Seven Regions lived to be something like a huge castle, but the building in front of them looked more like a military temple.

White stone with tall pillars and narrow windows where the evening light entered through them.

There was very little gold in the architecture, and even that small amount was mostly used in the Mana grooves of the walls and religious symbols instead of decoration.

There was no giant statue of the Lord, and no expensive carpet covered the entire path.

But this simplicity made the building look older and heavier.

Guards stood on both sides of the path.

There were not many of them, but the pressure of their presence was different from the ordinary soldiers at the port.

The main doors of the hall opened for them.

Light entered through the tall windows, and more interestingly, even though it was already evening, there was still natural light inside.

The hall was more than forty meters long, and its floor was made of a bright stone with very thin golden lines flowing inside it.

At the end of the hall, there was no high platform, only a few steps and a stone chair with a short back.

A man was standing in front of it.

His hair was white with a slight golden color and reached close to his neck.

His face looked around forty-something, not young, but not old either.

His clothes were simpler than what the two of them had probably expected.

A white robe with faint golden lines, there was no crown on his head, but his presence made it clear that no one needed a crown to understand his position.

Lord Orlian Veyra.

On his right stood a young girl.

Her light golden hair reached her shoulders, and unlike her father’s formal clothes, she wore a shorter and more practical robe.

A small sun symbol was placed on her collar, and her hands were behind her back.

She did not look older than nineteen or twenty, her eyes first fell on Kain and then on Lian.

And unlike the curious looks of the people at the port, hers was colder, there was no clear hostility, but there was no warmth either.

Orlian stepped forward.

His eyes stayed on the Sphere of Witness inside Kain for a few seconds, as if he knew it was there even without seeing it.

"Three generations of my family have been waiting for this meeting."

His voice was calm, but it spread across the entire hall without needing to become louder.

"It was strange that when it finally happened, you were younger than everyone had imagined and that you are a foreigner."

"Today is the second time someone has been disappointed about where I was born."

Kain looked at him for a few seconds and then let out a short sigh.

The corner of Orlian’s mouth rose slightly.

"Not disappointed....just surprised, anyway, it is a pleasure to meet you, Child of Light."

His eyes moved away from Kain for a moment and stopped on Lian, staying there slightly longer than normal.

Lian noticed it, and this was not the first time.

From the moment they had entered the hall, the ruler of Region Three had looked at him several times, not with simple curiosity, as if he was examining something.

He said nothing.

"Elara."

Orlian moved his hand slightly.

The young girl lowered her head.

"Elara Veyra."

"My youngest daughter."

"Welcome, Child of Light."

Elara kept her eyes on Kain, her voice was respectful, but when her eyes moved to Lian for a moment, she only lowered her head slightly.

"And you."

"Thank you."

The young Vorhelm nodded.

Orlian invited them to come closer.

The priest accompanying them gave a short report and then, with the Lord’s permission, left the hall with the guards.

The first few minutes were mostly spent explaining what had happened in Silent Light.

Orlian had already received the main report, but he also heard the details about the presence of Region Six, the opening of the sanctuary, the Eclipse Leviathan, and the number of deaths directly from them.

When Kain explained that the Sphere of Witness had accepted the bond with him by itself, Orlian did not ask any more questions.

He did not ask for any test and did not bring another seal, for him, the matter was already settled, and he seemed to believe it.

The Lord treated both of them with respect, but perhaps because of the difference in age or power, he still did not show them the same extreme respect that the priest had shown them.

But toward Lian, besides respect, there was a kind of caution and perhaps even fear in his behavior...?

It could be felt as if he was afraid of Lian.

In the end, Kain asked the same question that was the main reason for this meeting.

"So can I finally find out what is written in that prophecy?"

Orlian looked at him, the small smile from before disappeared from his face.

For a few seconds, no one spoke, and then the Lord slightly turned his head toward the doors.

"Everyone out."

The guards moved without asking questions, the two huge doors closed.

The sound of them closing echoed through the hall.

When Orlian started speaking, his tone no longer sounded like a ruler explaining politics.

It had become quieter and heavier, like someone saying words he had heard many times by heart and knew that every one of them had been preserved through generations.

"This is how the prophecy begins."

Light moved across the golden lines on the floor.

"When the Tear recognizes its owner and the Witness awakens after a long silence, the Child of Light will descend."

"Six shelters will rise in fear of the Third, because the Light will not walk alone."

"Beside him, the Dormant Calamity will walk; nameless in the Father’s records and without chains in the threads of fate."

Even Lian could not simply let the sentence pass through his mind.

Nameless in the Father’s records.

There was something unpleasant about this phrase, especially the word Father, it reminded him of that same Father who commanded all five Calamities.

But what did this sentence mean now?

Orlian had not finished yet.

"The Calamity will not come with one face; what exists within the souls of monsters will echo within him after their fall."

The young Vorhelm’s fingers curled very slightly, he had a very strange feeling that this sentence was referring to his three Innate Skills.

"When the heart becomes complete and the Dormant Calamity stands at the edge of the end, universe will either break free from his chains..."

His tone stopped for a moment and then continued more quietly.

"...or no living will see the next dawn."
