I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 387: The Price of One Last Stand
The Young Pendragon raised her cracked sword, and the Calamity’s hand moved toward her face, this one seemed unavoidable!
But before the impact, a short roar came from the side.
One.
The giant ant attacked with all the speed it had left, its jaws opened, and it crashed directly into Lian’s side.
Black Silence did not even fully turn toward One and only moved his hand, throwing a simple punch, but at the same time Seris attacked from the other side.
Although the girl’s attack did not even reach its target, the force of Lian’s punch hit both of them.
BOOOOOOM!
One and Seris were thrown toward the rocks behind them together, the first rock broke ...then the second one, and dust covered everything.
The girl fell among the rocks, she heard several of her own bones breaking, pain spread through her side and back, she felt like her breath was stuck inside her lungs.
For several moments, she could not even breathe properly and vomited blood.
But when she raised her head, her eyes stopped on One, one of the ant’s legs was bent at a completely wrong angle.
A large part of its chest armor had been pushed inward, and one of its antennae was broken halfway.
One tried to stand up, its two front legs pressed against the ground, its body rose for a moment, but then it fell again.
A second attempt, and it fell to the ground again.
Seris clenched her jaw, this was not a scene that was easy for her to watch.
One’s emotions were weakly transmitted from far away through the Hive Link at that moment ... and the person who was supposed to feel those emotions, did.
Terrible pain ... pain that the ant would rather die than feel ... but beneath that pain, the same foolish and unchanging loyalty was still there.
And the person on the other side of the Hive Link who felt those transmitted emotions was only becoming colder and colder, she was silent, she still did not interfere, but only she knew how badly she wanted to destroy that Calamity at this moment.
And soon, she would get her chance, if she revealed herself now, everything she had been waiting for would be lost.
On the other side, Black Silence slowly walked out of the dust, his face was completely emotionless.
"It’s time to finish off the pests." he said with Lian’s voice but without the slightest emotion.
His hand rose, this time if the attack landed, Seris would die.
The girl was on one knee, her breathing was uneven and her normal sword was almost broken, several of her ribs were damaged and she could feel a burning pain from inside.
And One could no longer stand.
This really seemed like the end for them ... but maybe not.
There was no other choice, so Seris put her hand inside her storage space.
A small orb appeared in the palm of her hand, the surface of the orb was almost black, but under its dark shell, a red light like blood slowly moved.
The Young Pendragon only looked at it for a moment.
This was the medium that allowed Sovereign’s Last Stand to be activated in its strongest form.
She had used its stored energy once before, beside the Forgotten Tree.
It had been completely emptied.
But during the six-day journey back and then their journey toward the Giants’ Graveyard, every monster they had been forced to kill, Seris had given its corpse to the orb.
Dozens of corpses had all entered it.
But—
[Stored Energy: 11%]
[Minimum Energy Required for Activation: 75%]
The stored energy was low, very low, and the distance from the minimum she needed was also very large.
Black Silence was getting closer.
But monster corpses were not the only thing that could act as fuel for this artifact, in fact, there was another fuel as well.
But it was far too valuable, not only to her but to all Awakened.
[Holder’s Permanent Stats.]
Her eyes narrowed for a moment, this was no longer a monster corpse that could be found anywhere, it was not something that could simply return with rest or a potion.
Stats that she had worked hard to collect over the years with her resources and growth, and had fully maxed out.
If they were burned, they would be gone, she would have to collect her stats again from the beginning with the help of resources, treasures, and ... and this would put her far behind the others.
It could practically ruin her and keep her out of the ranking of the strongest S-Generation Awakened for a long time.
[1,000 Stat Points are required to complete the energy.]
[Warning.]
[Consumed points cannot be restored.]
[Confirm?]
Seris frowned even more after seeing the required amount, but Black Silence was only a few meters away.
One could not stand up, the battlefield was full of corpses, Vhalaris was collapsing, and if they lost in less than a few more minutes, Earth would be next.
"Yes." the Young Pendragon said with a blood-covered face and a cold gaze.
The panel changed.
[1,000 Stat Points consumed.]
At that moment, she felt as if something had been torn out of her existence, a power that truly belonged to her was disappearing.
[Strength: 520 ← 260]
[Spirit: 260 ← 130]
[Speed: 540 ← 270]
[Mana: 400 ← 200]
[Resistance: 280 ← 140]
[Total Stats: 2000 ← 1000]
Half of her total raw power disappeared within a few seconds.
Her legs became weak for a moment, her body felt as if it had suddenly become heavier.
But the orb began to pulse, and the red light inside it became stronger.
[Energy: 75%]
[Activation conditions fulfilled.]
"Activate." Seris said calmly.
[Sovereign’s Last Stand]
The world turned red for a moment, and all of Seris’s pain disappeared and became meaningless, her bleeding was forcibly stopped.
Her torn muscles were forced to move with mana and life force, her damaged bones no longer had the right to stop her body.
Her heart beat so heavily that every beat felt like a hit from inside her chest.
The closer she was to death, the more power she received, and she was very close at that moment.
[Remaining Duration: 00:40]
[All delayed damage will be applied after the effect ends.]
[Chance of death after the effect ends: Very High.]
She looked at the last line, there was no fear on her face.
"Then I have to finish this before that."
But even this was not enough, Seris knew this, even when she had activated it beside the Forgotten Tree, she had not been able to perform a miracle and win.
She still needed to become stronger.
Moonless Severance at its current rank did not have enough power to cut through Lian’s body as much as needed.
So she opened another panel.
[Fragments Available: 102]
[Moonless Severance — Great Rank]
[Upgrade Available.]
[Cost: 61 Fragments]
"Do it." she ordered firmly.
[61 Fragments consumed.]
[Remaining Fragments: 41]
White and black light wrapped around her cracked sword.
[Moonless Severance evolved.]
[Absolute Moonless Severance]
[Rank: Great --> Divine]
[The distance between the blade and the selected coordinates is removed from the attack process, the cut will directly appear at the selected point, physical barriers and defenses based on path or distance will be ignored,]
[Damage increased by up to 125%]
[Deep Damage increased by up to 125%]
[Critical Hit Chance increased by 75%]
[Each attack consumes 25 Mana.]
[Warning: Mana consumption and mental pressure increase according to the difference in power.]
Seris’s eyes stayed on the description for a moment, it was enough, she only needed to make the cut deep enough, and now she could do it.
Darian had seen everything from far away.
The orb.
The sudden drop in Seris’s presence, then the explosion of new power and the strange light, he did not know exactly what she had burned, but he understood one thing completely.
This girl had no intention of retreating.
He also raised the Seven-Colored Heaven Bow, blood was running down from the side of his forehead.
His mana was also no longer in good condition, but he pulled the bowstring.
"I don’t know what you’re planning to do, but I’ve got your back." he said in a cold but serious voice and fixed his gaze on Black Silence.
Seris looked at him for a moment and said nothing.
Darian activated his skill.
[Seven Heavens, One Blade — Divine]
Seven colored rings appeared behind the bow, one after another, and seven-colored light separated from the bow.
At the same moment, blood ran down from Darian’s nose, the power of this skill was strong enough to cause internal damage.
His face became a little pale, but his hand did not shake on the bowstring.
"Let’s see how truly invincible you are." he then said with a very cold smile.
