Chapter 528: Chapter 319: Rebirth After the Tribulation (Part 2)

"You’re awake. Perfect timing. This Cyan Python Bull steak is fresh off the grill. Come try my cooking!"

Su Yue smiled and walked forward. She had just taken a steak slathered in sauce when, just as she was about to eat, her eyes filled with confusion.

"Yu Fei, I’m a little confused. Are we still at Pingsha Ridge? Did the Cangye Corps conquer this place?"

Yu Fei was puzzled. "Why would you say that? Su Yue, you didn’t hit your head, did you?"

"Get lost! Why would there be a Healing Pod here? And all this."

She pointed to the makeshift kitchen that had been set up nearby. It was fully equipped with all sorts of utensils, so many that it was almost absurd.

Yu Fei had forgotten that very few people actually knew about spatial storage abilities.

He pointed a finger, and the Healing Pod Su Yue had just been recovering in vanished without a trace.

Su Yue’s gaze went vacant. After a long moment, she said in disbelief, "Is that... a spatial ability?"

Watching the youthful Yu Fei nod, Su Yue’s shock was beyond words.

Spatial abilities were said to be mastered by only a very small number of Martial Saints. She never imagined Yu Fei would possess such a power.

"You... this..."

She was at a loss for words.

"Hurry and eat, Su Yue. It won’t be good if it gets cold!"

Su Yue ate the steak, but she couldn’t taste a thing. Her mind was completely filled with curiosity about Yu Fei.

She started bombarding Yu Fei with questions, completely forgetting about Yan Sea for the moment.

So, he gave her a brief rundown of what had happened, only giving a simple explanation of his own abilities. Even so, to Su Yue, it was like listening to some arcane scripture.

"You can teleport using Sword Qi?

Your Zhanming can pierce through space?

And your Zhanming has even materialized into a Spirit Weapon?"

"Yu Fei, I’m a little jealous of you! My own Spirit Weapon is still in the design phase."

Yu Fei felt a bit helpless. Back in high school, he had been a mere first-realm martial arts rookie who could only look up to a Martial Artist like Su Yue. Now, his progress on the martial path was no less than hers.

Looking at the orange gem on her forehead, he guessed that Su Yue’s level within the Celestial Pride Class was probably on the lower end, about the same as Zhang Yuan.

Her strength was far greater than that of an ordinary Martial Artist, but she probably struggled when it came to fighting opponents above her realm.

"Su Yue, aren’t you going to check on Mr. Yan?"

Unexpectedly, Su Yue’s lips twisted into a pout, and she seemed a little gloomy.

"Why should I look at him? Your teacher is a big idiot. I must have done something terrible in a past life to have fallen for him!"

Once on this topic, Su Yue opened the floodgates and began to complain endlessly to Yu Fei.

’So it’s true,’ Yu Fei thought. ’You can date for ten years and still have the mindset of a young girl, but get married for two, and the nagging is bound to start!’

Yu Fei listened quietly to her ranting. Between the lines, Su Yue was complaining about Yan Sea’s low emotional intelligence, his inattention to the details of daily life, his lack of taste, how she had to worry about him constantly, and how she even had to pick out his clothes for him.

But not once did she complain about Yan Sea bringing her into such a dangerous situation.

"Your teacher was just lucky enough to meet me in this life. Otherwise, who knows where he’d have ended up, dying old and alone!"

Yu Fei lowered his head and smiled, taking out a bottle of sake and pouring some for Su Yue.

She picked up the cup and downed it in one go.

"COUGH, COUGH..."

She patted her chest to soothe herself, lowered her head to tuck her hair behind her ear, and casually wiped the moisture from the corner of her eye. She then asked nonchalantly,

"How is that blockhead of a teacher of yours doing? From what I can tell, it looks like he barely has any aura left!"

Yan Sea’s condition was indeed frightening at the moment. His aura was almost nonexistent, but he was actually starting to recover.

Su Yue hadn’t dared to probe his condition. She was too afraid.

Yu Fei smiled. "Don’t worry, Su Yue. When Mr. Yan wakes up again, he will absolutely blow you away!"

Su Yue was confused, but Yu Fei just smiled without another word.

Seeing how relaxed he was, the heart that had been hanging in Su Yue’s throat finally settled. Yu Fei wouldn’t lie to her. Yan Sea’s condition must be improving.

Sure enough, Yan Sea slowly woke up at dawn the next day.

"Yue’er, Yu Fei... I feel like I was in a very long dream and have only just woken up. It’s so good to see you both again!"

Yan Sea’s gaze was peaceful, and his temperament was tranquil and profound—completely different from before.

The old Yan Sea could never hide his ferocious aura; the slightest movement would unleash a torrent of crimson Evil Qi. But now, he seemed like an ordinary person, carrying an additional air of the Unity of Heaven and Man.

’How strange!’ Yu Fei looked him up and down. Yan Sea’s transformation was astonishing. This natural temperament signified a major breakthrough in the realm of the soul. But for a Dharma-form Grandmaster like him, the soul was supposed to be a weak point. ’Did he have a sudden enlightenment?’

Tears welled in the corners of Su Yue’s eyes as she leaped into Yan Sea’s arms.

They held each other in a silent embrace, not letting go for a long, long time.

Yu Fei suddenly felt a little awkward.

"Alright, Yue’er. You’ve suffered all these years. From this moment on, you are my one and only. Let’s go home!"

Su Yue froze. She never expected to hear such words from Yan Sea’s mouth.

"Then... you’re not going to investigate the cause of your master’s death anymore?"

Yan Sea’s voice was calm. "No. ’All that has form is illusory!’"

"When I was on the verge of death, I was guided by Yu Fei’s words. Only then did I understand the path I had taken. All past ties of gratitude and resentment between myself and Sima Hong are severed. It would be best if we never meet again!"

"I have now achieved a state where my mind can arise without attachment, where I can follow my heart without clinging. I have also learned that emptiness and existence are not two, and that essence and function are one. This world is so vast, and I am but a small part of it. My innate capacity is limited, so I must rely on my own strength!"

Yu Fei understood. He didn’t know the subtleties of the Mahaprajna Sutra, but he had been tutored by Ye Shuping for a year and had some knowledge of various cultivation methods.

After this calamity, Mr. Yan had completely broken free from the shackles of his past, comprehended his true heart, and elevated his mental state. The things he had just said were likely states of mind described in Buddhist scriptures.

Yu Fei knew that once a Cultivator achieved these special mental states, they would master unique abilities that varied from person to person.

’But he’s let go so completely that he doesn’t even want revenge on Sima Hong anymore? Could it be that getting manipulated by Sima Hong and then Ye Shuping gave him some kind of complex, and now he’s just decided to lie flat?’

Yu Fei wouldn’t press the issue. Yan Sea’s current state was for the best. Besides, he could faintly sense that Yan Sea seemed to have refined all his Evil Qi. His foundation was now pure and profound, his power contained within, and his strength had clearly increased significantly.

Having accompanied Yan Sea in studying the scriptures all these years, Su Yue also understood a fair amount. She knew that Yan Sea had truly let go.

Tears immediately began to stream down her face. No one could understand the pain of loving an obsessive man.

Meanwhile, Yu Fei had already set up a table and deftly prepared a spread of what looked like a sumptuous meal of instant-cook dishes. They weren’t particularly rich in vital energy, but they were definitely flavorful.

He also prepped the remaining Cyan Python Bull leg and put it on the grill, figuring it would take a while longer.

Seeing Yu Fei bustling about, the two of them finally separated. Su Yue looked a little embarrassed, only now remembering that Yu Fei was of a younger generation.

"All done? Mr. Yan’s ordeal turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Let’s celebrate!"

With that, he immediately brought out a stack of treasured iron cases, each containing three bottles of liquor.

He’d already forgotten where he had acquired them, only remembering that they weren’t cheap—over ten thousand merit points per case. The liquor’s name was "Starlight Through Clouds," which Yu Fei felt was rather fitting for the occasion.

But Yan Sea took a step forward, pressed his palms together, and gave Yu Fei a half-bow.

"Damn, Mr. Yan, what are you doing?"

Yu Fei teleported out of the way in a flash. ’Don’t tell me I pushed him over the edge?’

Unexpectedly, Yan Sea just smiled. "Yu Fei, before, I was the teacher and you were the student. But today, you guided me to break through the obsessions that have clouded half my life, allowing me to be reborn. This bow is my acknowledgment of our fated connection on the Path!"

A bad feeling crept into Yu Fei’s heart. ’Did I just turn the deeply demonic Yan Sea into some old Buddhist monk?!’

"Mr. Yan, what exactly did you comprehend? You’re not going to become a monk, are you? I feel like you’re acting really strange right now!"

Hearing this, Su Yue grew even more nervous. As if she’d thought of something, she immediately grabbed Yan Sea and asked,

"You just said, ’All that has form is illusory.’ Then what am I? Am I illusory too?"

As she spoke, she was more focused than ever, staring intently at Yan Sea, afraid she might miss a single detail.

Yan Sea gave a wry smile. "What are you two thinking? I just had a breakthrough and have a lot of new insights in my heart, so I was just speaking along the lines of the scriptures."

At this, Yan Sea’s expression turned serious.

"I am who I am. Whether demonic or enlightened, I am Yan Sea. My love is Su Yue, my student is Yu Fei, and my enemy is Sima Hong. It’s just that right now, I’m certainly no match for him, so it’s best we don’t meet. But if I had the power of a Martial Saint, I would turn the world upside down to find him!"

He then looked tenderly at Su Yue.

"You ask what you are to me?

You are the one constant thought this heart holds, for whom I will always exist.

Though a thousand eons pass, you are my final truth!"

"Mmph..."

Watching the two of them embrace again without a care in the world, holding each other for a long, long time, Yu Fei helplessly flipped the bull leg on the grill, reheated the cold dishes, and silently poured himself a drink to start on his own.
