Chapter 398: Chapter 255: Foresight
Within the region known as Thousand Mountains Crater, there were a great many active Martial Artists, almost all of them at the Gang Qi level. At this stage of their training, advancing one’s realm depended more on the cultivation of their spiritual soul than on Gang Qi itself.
The area was vast. The "Thousand Mountains" moniker was a bit of an exaggeration, but there were still well over a hundred volcanoes, large and small. Looking up, the sky was dotted with several hundred dazzling points of light. These were the Crimson Radiance Streamers, tempered by the Gang Winds.
The total number was high, but unfortunately, there were even more Martial Artists competing for them. It was also impossible to determine when they would descend, filling the treasure hunt with uncertainty.
Many secret treasures could rapidly increase one’s spiritual power and strengthen their spiritual soul, but very few offered a means of purification. The Crimson Radiance Streamers, however, possessed just such a heaven-defying ability.
Each Crimson Radiance Streamer a Martial Artist refined would purify their spiritual soul considerably. Of course, for a Grandmaster, this effect was little more than better than nothing.
A Martial Artist with the right connections could also ask a Grandmaster to help acquire them. Grandmasters could fly, allowing them to intercept the Crimson Radiance Streamers before they landed, a treasure-snatching ability far beyond that of any Gang Qi Martial Artist.
It was just that very few Martial Artists could afford to have a Grandmaster take action for them.
Yu Fei might have been able to, but as the leader of the Celestial Pride Class, if he dared make such a request of Ye Shuping, he’d likely be strung up for a good thrashing.
Ye Shuping would provide him with various forms of convenience and support, but everything required for cultivation had to be obtained by Yu Fei himself—he had to seize it, fight for it, and contend for it, as long as he didn’t break the law.
Yu Fei had sharp eyes. Spotting a streak of light descending far to the southwest, he instantly shot off like a gust of wind. This Crimson Radiance Streamer was at a manageable distance. Yu Fei sprinted at full speed, but as he calculated the distance, he figured he still wouldn’t make it in time.
Thus, he circulated his Inner Qi. A line of fire seemed to flash and disappear in the air. With Burning Void Escape activated, he instantly arrived at the periphery of the contested area.
This Speed Burst Secret Skill created a considerable disturbance upon activation, but the area was so chaotic, with all sorts of Qi Jin clashing, that no one actually noticed him.
The combatants here seemed to be divided into four teams, each attacking the others to vie for a favorable position.
Seeing the streamer about to land before a victor had been decided, everyone grew restless. Now, it was all down to who had the superior Vertical Jump Body Skill.
Yu Fei suddenly had a thought. ’If this descending streamer is the bait, then aren’t all these scrambling Martial Artists just fish on a hook?’
Chuckling inexplicably, Yu Fei pushed the thought to the back of his mind and prepared to make his move.
In terms of leaping ability, his Celestial Star Travel Body was a top-tier Cultivation Technique, but he was only at the foundational level, which gave him no real advantage.
When it came to the explosive power of his Inner Qi, Yu Fei couldn’t compare to the numerous Gang Qi experts either.
Although he could normally slay Gang Qi experts with ease, his actual realm was inferior, and his fundamental martial "hardware" was lacking in comparison.
At that moment, his Void Pure Realm was active, and Yu Fei discovered several other Martial Artists hiding nearby, all planning to fish in troubled waters.
They had the same idea as Yu Fei.
’Lots of clever people here!’
Yu Fei mused to himself.
Seeing the streamer about to land, one Martial Artist leaped up, "stepping" on the air to propel his body higher, looking like he was just about to succeed.
But unexpectedly, the crowd below unleashed a torrent of attacks, forcibly knocking the Martial Artist with the exceptional Body Technique back down.
Yu Fei watched the man twist his body in a desperate attempt to evade, but he was still hit by the shockwaves, coughed up blood, and was clearly no longer able to compete.
This person’s fall was like a signal. Countless Martial Artists, confident in their own abilities, leaped up one after another, joining the fray.
But what could you say? When you try to get ahead, there’s always a dog nipping at your heels. Most people there had the same mentality: ’If I can’t have it, then neither can you.’
In this situation, it wasn’t just one person trying to pull others down. Whoever jumped the highest received the most focused attacks.
The streamer drifted lower and lower, yet no one could manage to seize it. Martial Artists arriving from a distance began to join in, making the scene even more chaotic.
Yu Fei’s attention remained fixed on the few stealthed Martial Artists in the vicinity; they were his primary rivals.
Finally, one of them made a move. Their Stealth Secret Skill seemed to be of a very high level; they were on the verge of success, yet no one seemed to have noticed.
Martial Artists with keen perception were exceedingly rare. In the martial world, those who mastered a Stealth Secret Skill often held an advantage over others of the same rank.
The stealthed Martial Artist couldn’t help but feel a surge of joy. Relying on this technique, he had recently obtained several Crimson Radiance Streamers. Whether for personal use or for sale, he could make a fortune.
Suddenly, an exceptionally sharp Sword Qi shot up from below. He was horrified; if he didn’t dodge, he would be struck in a vital point.
He twisted sharply in the air, but was still grazed by the Sword Qi. His Stealth Secret Skill was broken, revealing his position.
"Damn it! Who was that?!"
Suspended in mid-air, he seethed with hatred, assuming some fool had just randomly fired off a blast of Sword Qi and broken his stealth by a fluke.
"You damn thief! How dare you try to sneak in! Eat my axe!"
A burly man below suddenly spotted the stealthed Martial Artist in mid-air. With an angry roar, he slashed out a massive Gang Qi axe. The stealthed Martial Artist screamed as he was hastily wounded and fell to the ground, though no one pressed the attack.
In the midst of the chaos, Gang Qi Martial Artists continuously leaped up, attempting to pull the chestnut from the fire. Yu Fei focused on the remaining stealthed Martial Artists, exposing them one by one for his own selfish benefit.
The battle grew even more chaotic. The man on the ground wielding the giant axe took the lead, working with his teammates to force the others back.
This man was clearly a power-focused Martial Artist with extremely strong close-range burst capabilities. With his great axe swinging, no one could stop him. His small team’s plan was to drive everyone else away and collect the Crimson Radiance Streamer at their leisure.
