Chapter 283: Chapter 198: Lord of the Yulin Army, Ascending the Throne

After a moment of silence in the cabin, cheers erupted and wouldn’t stop.

"Long live Mr. Yu!"

"Boss, I fucking love you! Just tell us how to fight, and we’ll follow your lead..."

Qin Hao pulled a cape from his backpack, the same style as Jiang Nianwei’s, but gold. He and a few others rushed over to Yu Fei and, without giving him a chance to object, tied the golden cape around his shoulders.

Yu Fei’s eyes were sharp. He saw that the cape bore the embroidered words: "Yulin Army Lord, Peerless and Unmatched." The eight blood-red cursive characters seethed with killing intent, overlaying a massive, ink-black character for "KILL."

Yu Fei was startled but accepted the mantle of leadership that Qin Hao and the others thrust upon him.

He had noticed many people wearing the same silver-white capes as Jiang Nianwei when he boarded the plane today. At the time, he hadn’t thought much of it, assuming they had made them for some private event.

Qin Hao fanatically pulled out his own cape and put it on. "Brothers! The Lord of the Yulin Army has ascended! We march forth!"

While Qin Hao and his group were busy, the others had already begun to don their own capes. Now, there was a uniform sea of silver and white.

Following Qin Hao’s lead, they roared in unison: "Yulin’s divine might, indestructible! Standing proud above all others, peerless and absolute!"

The atmosphere having reached a fever pitch, Yu Fei suppressed the cringe rising in his heart, raised his right hand high, and swept it down.

"Crush them!"

Jiang Nianwei led the shout: "Kill!"

"KILL!!!"

Such is the spirit of youth, rushing into a battle a thousand leagues away, their only fear falling behind!

Yu Fei had originally planned to discuss tactics, but at this moment, nothing else mattered. Getting hyped was the only thing to do!

The three classes flew in three separate planes, heading for the designated battlefield.

Meanwhile, the expert-led Meteor Pavilion was busy dividing into several tactical squads. They discussed how to stall for time and withstand the enemy’s initial assault to secure the five million merit points for defending the fortress. They also prepared contingency plans. If the enemy breached the fortress, they needed to know how to survive on the vast battlefield. Everyone spoke their minds freely, proposing one idea after another.

The two Ironblood Godguards, Li Jueyin and Zhang Xunyi, were at odds. Their overall strategy was already decided: one would lead a small squad on a surprise attack to harass the enemy, while the other would remain at headquarters to plan the defense.

The point of contention, however, was that both of them wanted to lead the raid; neither was willing to stay behind and defend the fortress.

"There are only Sword Cultivators who die facing the enemy, never those who are cowardly and fear battle!"

Zhang Xunyi waved his wide sleeves, his cold and detached voice emanating from beneath his bronze mask. It was a sight that made everyone cringe.

After a few months of dealing with him, everyone had his number. He was strong, sure, but not *that* strong. When it came to posturing, however, he was second to none, and he was completely intractable.

Li Jueyin explained patiently, "You’re too squishy and you don’t have the stamina. If the enemy ties you down, I don’t care if you get yourself killed, but you’ll drag the team down with you."

Zhang Xunyi raised his head proudly. "If the enemy dares approach, I shall slay them with a single stroke of my sword!"

"HSSS..." Li Jueyin’s hand started to itch. She reached for her weapon, only to find the Flowing Frost Profound Moon Spear wasn’t there.

Her glare at Zhang Xunyi turned hostile. "You’re the weak one here," she said coldly. "You don’t get a say. I’m the class leader. I’m the strongest!"

Zhang Xunyi stormed off with a flick of his sleeve. "You will regret this!"

...

Back on Yu Fei’s plane, once everyone had calmed down a little, he gathered them to brainstorm some tactics.

To his surprise, Jiang Nianwei had already prepared a detailed battle plan, one that exhaustively listed all sorts of possibilities and their corresponding countermeasures.

More importantly, the plan documented each person’s abilities, their cultivated martial techniques, and their proficiency with super-powered weaponry. It even included notes on their individual strengths, personalities, and preferences.

The general strategy was now set: Yu Fei would go in alone with a super-powered firearm to assassinate key targets and weaken the enemy. As for the rest of the team, they would choose from several alternative plans. The final tactical decisions would have to wait until they arrived at their destination and could assess the situation on the ground.

Jiang Nianwei knew her classmates extremely well. Yu Fei, on the other hand, could still only name a handful of them. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, and her popularity was immense.

’No wonder everyone in the group chat calls Jiang Nianwei "the Boss,"’ Yu Fei thought. ’She really is our great commander.’

He hated dealing with these trivialities and would much rather focus his energy on cultivation. Ye Shuping expected him to walk a path of invincibility, a goal Yu Fei himself aspired to.

In a world where power is concentrated in the individual, numerical superiority isn’t always a clear advantage. Of course, at higher realms, the power gap between Martial Artists narrows, but that was a long way off for him.

After a bit of planning, Jiang Nianwei divided the 47 students into five squads of eight. Yu Fei was excluded from this count. Jiang Nianwei and five other top-ranking A-level students would form a central command squad. Each of the five squads appointed a leader and a vice-leader based on internal consensus or strength rankings, forming a rudimentary command structure.

He realized that his commander was exceptionally skilled at organization and coordination. She was also very charismatic, though her actual combat strength was relatively lacking.

During the last competition on the Determination Platform, he had fought everyone except for the very top experts. In comparison, Jiang Nianwei’s strength was a little on the weaker side.

"Have some juice!"

Yu Fei turned his head. He saw Qin Hao handing out drinks he’d gotten from the self-serve beverage station. Yu Fei hadn’t noticed, as he’d been resting with his eyes closed. Jiang Nianwei took one of the cups and passed it to him.

The atmosphere among the Yulin Army members was relaxed. They looked casual, but a fiery battle intent burned in their eyes, visible only in unguarded moments.

"Thanks! Are you nervous?"

Jiang Nianwei broke into a smile. "I was pretty worried, but after that little speech of yours, all I can think about is taking a few heads, toughing it out, and earning those merit points."

It was undeniable: Yu Fei’s simple, straightforward words had completely lifted the psychological burden from everyone’s shoulders. The worst that could happen was they’d take a beating. Best case, they’d make a tidy profit.
