I Built a Safe Zone in the Dead World
Chapter 192: i am not like them
The soft light of the master bedroom cast long, quiet shadows across the black leather sofa. Choi Jin-Ah sat on the edge of the cushions, her fingers tightly unlacing and relacing the strap of her clutch bag. Her breathing was uneven, the velvet of her dress rustling with every shallow breath.
Min-Soo stood by the glass balcony doors, his arms crossed over his chest. He didn’t speak. He allowed the heavy silence of the room to weigh down on her, testing the absolute limits of her compliance.
"Min-Soo," Jin-Ah began, her voice dropping to a quiet, cracking whisper that carried no trace of her former high-school arrogance. She slowly raised her head, her dark eyes watery and completely clear as she looked directly at him. "I... I know saying it now means nothing. But I’m sorry. For everything I did to you, for the way I let Jin-Woo treat you, and for using your situation just to make myself look superior."
Min-Soo’s expression remained flat, his posture entirely immovable. "Apologies don’t liquidate corporate debt blocks, Jin-Ah."
"I know," she said, a solitary tear finally breaking free and tracking down her flushed cheek. "I didn’t realize how the dirt felt until my father’s firm collapsed and we were thrown onto the street. I used to think people like you were just background characters meant to hold up our legacies. But looking back... I was the one who was completely blind. I destroyed the only genuine connection I had from my childhood because I was chasing a lifestyle that defaulted in a single morning."
They talked for a long time. Jin-Ah poured out every hidden insecurity, detailing the intense pressure from her father to secure an upper-class alliance, and the sheer terror of watching her mother sit on the concrete floor of a slum room without her blood pressure medicine. Min-Soo listened everything carefully.his brain mapping out the raw emotional structure of her confession without a single hint of pity. He didn’t interrupt her; he let her empty her pride completely until she was entirely hollowed out.
When her voice finally trailed off into a quiet, uneven sigh, Min-Soo took a slow step forward. His shadow enveloped her completely. He sat on the edge of the adjoining marble table, reaching out his hand and firmly wrapping his bare fingers around both of her hands.
The moment their skin locked, the interface grid inside his closed vision erupted into life.

The phone inside his pocket began to vibrate with a rapid, continuous drone, the bank texts rolling across his peripheral vision.
Shinhan Bank Alert: An anonymous wire transfer of $10,000 has been deposited.
Shinhan Bank Alert: An anonymous wire transfer of $10,000 has been deposited.
Shinhan Bank Alert: An anonymous wire transfer of $10,000 has been deposited.
The cash printed with an unyielding velocity, ten thousand dollars hitting his account for every single second her bare fingers remained locked within his grip.
Min-Soo slowly leaned forward, bringing his face closer to hers to initiate the newly unlocked Tier 5 advanced parameters. As his shadow shifted over her neckline, Jin-Ah’s entire body began to tremble slightly. Her breath came in short, hot hitches, her eyelashes fluttering against her pale skin.
’this will happen anyway,’ Jin-Ah thought to herself, her jaw clenching slightly as she forced her trembling muscles to remain perfectly still. ’ it’s okay. This is the price to save my family. I threw away my right to refuse already,’.
She slowly closed her eyes, her head tilting back slightly against the cushions, completely bracing herself for whatever dominance he was about to claim over her velvet dress.
Min-Soo’s face stopped exactly three inches from her lips.
He looked down at her tightly shut eyelids, his grip on her laced fingers remaining completely steady. Thanks to his advanced analytical intelligence, he could read the tremors in her neck and the frantic, chaotic rhythm of her pulse. She wasn’t yielding out of hidden attraction or genuine passion like Chae-Yoon; she was paralyzing her own instincts out of raw, transactional desperation. She was performing a forced execution of compliance.
Min-Soo slowly relaxed his fingers, breaking the hand-lock and leaning back into his original posture. The continuous vibration in his pocket stopped instantly, the digital ticker freezing the transaction data.
He realized she was not ready for this.
Min-Soo was ruthless when it came to short squeezing corporate legacies, liquidating corrupt syndicates, and bending proud presidents to his faction rules. But he was not a low level brute like Koo Jin-Woo. He didn’t need to use a girl’s financial ruin to take advantage of her body through raw force. If he claimed her intimacy while her core logic was operating on fear, it would yield zero genuine emotional sync, permanently capping his high-tier system payouts. He would build her alliance step by step until her submission was entirely authentic.
"Open your eyes, Jin-Ah," Min-Soo said, his voice flat, completely cutting through the silent room like a scalpel.
Jin-Ah’s eyes snapped open, her doe-like pupils wide with a mixture of intense confusion and defensive shock as she looked at his calm, unblinking face.
"The cleaning shift at the logistics building is canceled," Min-Soo said, standing up and tucking his hands back into his trousers pockets. "Go to the east wing guest room. Sleep. Tomorrow, your father’s debt margins will be restructured into an active credit line under my proxy. We will reallocate your family’s utility when your head is clear."
Jin-Ah stayed frozen on the leather sofa, her lips wet, her heart beating in a loud, confused rhythm as she stared at the boy who had just refused her complete surrender. The old playground of high school was gone, but as Min-Soo looked out the dark window toward the mountain ridge. He know that to survive in this world he needs power and wealth.
