I Build a Shelter in the Eternal Night
Chapter 393 - 173: "I Am Chen Fan, from the Jiangbei Mortal Realm.
Chapter 393: Chapter 173: "I Am Chen Fan, from the Jiangbei Mortal Realm.
’If only I could get another Celestial Dao Stone,’ he mused. ’The Celestial Dao Blessing Effect on the Copper Pipe might gain some defensive properties.’ He picked up another dumpling and put it in his mouth.
"Mmm..."
Chen Fan’s brow smoothed out, and he nodded in satisfaction.
Delicious.
...
Time trickled by. During this rainy season, the Mortal Realm did not suffer much of an impact.
It wasn’t an Undersea Ghost Tide.
Nor was it a rainy season that had arrived early.
It was barely capable of causing any damage to the Mortal Realm. If a rainy season of this magnitude could pose a threat, then the Mortal Realm’s development over the past few years would have been for nothing.
And so, time slowly crept toward the end of the rainy season.
New Continent.
Over here, the "Sparks Set the World Ablaze Project" had already made some initial progress.
HUFF... PUFF...
A member of the Mortal Realm Logistics Pavilion stood in an open area, panting as he forcefully planted a Mortal Realm Banner into the ground. After securing it, he pulled an Exotic Treasure from his robes and gazed into the distance.
It was an Exotic Treasure used for measuring distances.
It was composed of two small cylinders, like a pair of binoculars.
After measuring the distance, he would hop onto a Flying Ship, quickly reach the target location, and compare it with the Ghost Map. Once he confirmed the position was correct, he would plant another Mortal Realm Banner there.
Then he would repeat the process.
As far as the eye could see, across the vast Wilderness, one could faintly see numerous Flying Ships in the distance, constantly ascending and descending. The Mortal Realm Logistics Pavilion had split into smaller units. Each Mortal Realm Member was equipped with a basic Flying Ship, responsible for measuring distances and planting Banners.
The more accurately the distances were measured, the fewer Ghost Fires would need to be created.
And in the rear, dozens more Flying Ships were also scattered about, constantly taking off and landing.
"Over there!"
Standing on the edge of a Flying Ship Deck, a member of the Commerce Pavilion pointed to a clearly visible Mortal Realm Banner on the ground far away. He glanced at the nearly one hundred Ghost Fires on the deck behind him and ordered, "Land over there. That spot doesn’t have a Ghost Fire yet."
Soon, the Flying Ship landed near the Banner. They pulled out the Banner, brought it aboard the ship, and set down a Level 10 Ghost Fire in its place.
They lit the Ghost Fire.
Once a Ghost Fire reached Level 10, its Max Level Effect was that it no longer needed to consume any Ghost Stones. Of course, this was only enough to sustain the Ghost Fire itself; it couldn’t provide energy for other structures.
Only then did they quickly depart.
Mortal Realm Banner.
A special Spirit Treasure.
It could be seen clearly from a great distance, but only if the weather was good. In adverse conditions like heavy rain, thick fog, or sandstorms, it would become much harder to see.
It was perfectly suited to be used as a landmark.
The entire New Continent was a hive of activity as the great machine of the Mortal Realm began to operate at full capacity.
Numerous members of the Logistics Pavilion were at the front, constantly measuring distances and marking points.
Meanwhile, members of the Commerce Pavilion placed Ghost Fires at the marked locations.
A small number of Logistics Pavilion members remained in the Mortal Realm far to the rear, continuously crafting Mortal Realm Banners and other daily necessities. These, along with the Ghost Fires created by the Domain Lord, were transported to the New Continent via High-speed Rail.
The Mortal Realm had set up temporary stations in the various Ancient Battlefields.
Many of the Mortal Realm’s external members began to spread out across the various Ancient Battlefields, digging for Ghost Stones and collecting Ghost Bones.
It was a massive undertaking.
It was utterly impossible for a single person to complete.
As members of the Logistics Pavilion and Commerce Pavilion pushed deeper into the heartland of the New Continent, round trips became inconvenient. They no longer needed to return to New Continent Base One to restock on Flying Ship Ghost Stones, Banners, Ghost Fires, and other supplies.
Instead, a new fleet of Flying Ships was responsible for resupplying the various frontline ships from the rear.
And within this month, Chen Fan had made a special trip to the New Continent. At New Continent Base One, he had created numerous Signal Towers. The Signal Towers were not small; they stood 10 meters tall and were uniform in width from top to bottom, shaped like a cylinder.
It was a portable structure.
Wang Mazi was responsible for deploying these Signal Towers throughout the New Continent’s heartland to maintain clear communications.
This would ensure that the rear command could coordinate movements accurately.
...
"Commerce Pavilion Squad 37, there’s a gap seventeen li to your northwest. Proceed immediately to investigate."
"Commerce Pavilion Squad 48, a marker in the mountains along your original route was missed. Please turn back and complete it at once."
"Logistics Supply Formation 3, depart immediately for Zones One, Three, and Four. Resupply the logistics stations in these three zones."
"Rear command copies. Noted. Logistics Marker Squad 178 is low on Ghost Stones and requires immediate resupply."
New Continent Base One.
Inside a massive Wooden House.
A Sand Table sat on a large tabletop, surrounded by several dozen people. These individuals were the coordination team for the "Sparks Set the World Ablaze" project, dispatching orders via Sound Transmission Talismans.
This was the Celestial Derivation Sand Table.
An Exotic Treasure that was originally in the Mortal Realm, it had been specially moved to the New Continent for the Sparks Set the World Ablaze project.
Its effect was simple.
It could connect to multiple Ghost Maps and merge them into a single, complete map on its surface. Over the past several days, Wang Mazi had finished exploring the entire New Continent, drawing numerous fragmented Ghost Maps. After all of them were collated onto the Sand Table, it formed a complete overview of the New Continent.
And in the area near the coastline, countless Ghost Fires were lit up, dense as stars. Like will-o’-the-wisps, they advanced layer by layer into the depths of the New Continent.
A Ghost Fire would only appear on the Ghost Map—and thus, on the Sand Table—after it was lit. This made it easy to see if any areas had been missed.
It made things much easier.
Any missed areas could be spotted at a glance.
