Chapter 366: Chapter 168: Guanxi Plain, the Jiangbei Mortal Realm Is Here

...

「A little over two hours later.」

A travel-worn Flying Ship approached from the distance, slowly landing inside Mortal City. Wang Mazi strode out; he had already received news that the Domain Lord was also on the New Continent.

He stopped in front of Chen Fan, just about to report a major discovery on the New Continent, but his expression suddenly changed when he noticed numerous Sea Ships and Flying Ships faintly visible on the distant sea, constantly searching along the Thunderstorm Sea Realm.

"Just as I suspected!"

"Domain Lord, is the Thunderstorm Sea Realm showing signs of collapse?"

"No."

Chen Fan sighed lightly. "Hey Hey is missing. After ruling out all other possibilities, I suspect a Great Ghost in the Thunderstorm Sea Realm used an illusion to lure Hey Hey into it. We’re searching for it now."

"Before it left, Hey Hey even left its Beast Pavilion Identity Token behind."

"We can’t pinpoint Hey Hey’s position."

"Er..."

After standing stunned for a long while, Wang Mazi glanced blankly at the fleet of Flying Ships and Sea Ships searching in the distance, then back at the Domain Lord and Lame Monkey beside him. Completely bewildered, he said,

"Domain Lord... what are you talking about?"

"Didn’t you send Hey Hey to that Deep Pit to dig for Earth Gold?"

"On my way back, I saw Hey Hey digging for Earth Gold in that Deep Pit. I even waved hello, and it kept waving its paw back at me."

"What?"

Chen Fan froze for a moment, then his brow furrowed as he turned his head to Lame Monkey. "Did you give the order?"

"I didn’t!"

Lame Monkey, looking anxious, pulled a Sound Transmission Talisman from his clothes and contacted Qi Yue. "Qi Yue, was it you who ordered Hey Hey to go dig for Earth Gold?"

Qi Yue’s voice quickly came from the Sound Transmission Talisman.

"I didn’t. I’ve been busy mining this whole time."

"Great."

Chen Fan suddenly laughed, a cold glint in his eyes. ’So, someone in the Mortal Realm feels they can give orders for me now.’ He immediately turned and walked toward the Flying Ship. "Let’s go find Hey Hey. I’m quite curious who gave the order."

Lame Monkey and Wang Mazi exchanged a look, both seeing the unease in each other’s eyes, and hurried to follow.

...

From New Continent Base One, it was a full three-day journey to the Deep Pit that Wang Mazi had discovered.

Chen Fan traveled day and night, arriving at the Deep Pit before nightfall on the second day.

He soon spotted Hey Hey below, digging strenuously all by itself. A flash of anger crossed his eyes. No Flying Ship, no High-speed Rail... Hey Hey had run all this way to mine Earth Gold completely on its own.

And it was digging all alone.

How lonely it must have been, perhaps only Hey Hey could know.

No matter who internally gave the order—whether for sport or as a test—this matter would not end so simply.

The Flying Ship slowly descended.

Hearing the noise, Hey Hey looked up. It froze slightly upon seeing Chen Fan, but when it saw Wang Mazi standing beside him, a flash of fury crossed its lantern-sized eyes, and it let out a furious roar.

It looked for all the world like a bullied child, wailing with indignation and anger now that its master had arrived.

...

’Lame Monkey silently shuffled to the side, trying to distance himself from Wang Mazi as much as possible. ’Couldn’t be this guy, could it? Did Wang Mazi give the order himself to try and earn some credit? That’s a huge overstep of authority... And Hey Hey actually listened to him?’’

Almost instantly.

’Wang Mazi’s face turned ashen. ’I’m being fucking framed! Didn’t we wave at each other like friends on my way back? Why is it roaring at me now? This really has nothing to do with me!’’

Chen Fan paid no attention to Wang Mazi’s expression.

Leaning on his cane, he walked down from the Flying Ship alone and stood beside Hey Hey, and they began to converse.

A combination of body language and eye contact.

...

A short while later, Chen Fan boarded the Flying Ship again, followed by Hey Hey, which wore a look of utter grievance. Lame Monkey keenly noticed that the anger in his Young Master’s eyes was gone, replaced by a trace of exasperation. Realizing the situation was not heading in a serious direction, he tentatively asked,

"Young Master, who gave the order?"

"A Pavilion Master."

"Which Pavilion Master?"

"The Beast Pavilion Master."

"Huh?"

Lame Monkey was completely baffled.

Chen Fan heaved a long sigh. Then, unable to stop himself, he raised his hand and rapped Hey Hey on the head, laughing in exasperation. "You little shit, you can give orders to yourself, huh?!"

"Do you know how many resources we’ve used these past few days looking for you? So many Mortal Realm Members risked being swept into the Thunderstorm Sea Realm searching for you, and it turns out you goddamn gave an order to yourself and ran off to dig for Earth Gold."

"From so far away."

"And you really managed to run all the way here on your own?!"

"This..."

Standing to the side, Wang Mazi let out a long sigh of relief. It was obvious he was off the hook. Still, he was confused. "Domain Lord, what happened?"

"It’s a long story."

Chen Fan sighed helplessly. "The last time Hey Hey was back in the Mortal Realm, I was sitting on the City Wall, thinking about our next steps. Hey Hey was lying at my feet."

"I casually remarked, ’My birthday’s coming up soon.’"

"Hey Hey remembered that. It decided to get me a gift. It figured I must really like the Earth Gold from here, so it wanted to dig up enough of it to give me a surprise."

"So, it went to Zhao Shengping, got a huge supply of stew and some drinks, left its Identity Token in the city, and ran for several days from New Continent Base One all the way here to start mining Earth Gold."

"If you hadn’t happened to pass by and spot it, I have no idea how long we would have been searching."

"This silly creature... it’s giving me such a headache."

...

Wang Mazi looked blankly at Hey Hey, who was snarling at him. "So..."

"Yep. So when you passed by, it wasn’t waving hello. It was telling you to keep its secret. Now, in its mind, you’re an untrustworthy snitch."
