"Evelyn Grant, I’m not a casual man. If I only thought of you as a friend, or someone I grew up with, I wouldn’t have agreed when you asked me for that favor."

That was no small favor! It concerned the creation of a new life!

Ryan Sterling was certain that if anyone other than Evelyn Grant had asked him to help them get pregnant, he would have absolutely refused.

He would never have agreed.

"I know you’re resistant to the idea of a relationship right now, so I’m not in a rush. You don’t have to accept me immediately." He was saying all this just so Evelyn Grant would know.

As for whether she would accept him, or when she might accept him, he wouldn’t force any of it!

Evelyn Grant looked into his eyes, silent for a long time, before she finally spoke.

"Ryan Sterling, it’s impossible between you and me."

"Why?"

"No matter what, your older brother and I were married. All the relatives and friends of the Sterling Family know it. They even attended our wedding. If you and I were to get together now—"

She didn’t even dare to continue that train of thought!

’How many people would be pointing fingers and whispering behind my back?’

"Ryan Sterling, you’re different from me. You’re the CEO of a company now. In the Sterling Family, whenever anyone talks about you, they do so with a look of pride! If you get entangled with me, have you thought about the consequences?"

"Are you saying I should give you up because of people I couldn’t care less about?" Ryan Sterling’s dark eyes were fixed on her, unblinking. His voice was low yet incredibly firm. "I won’t. I don’t care how others see me, or what they say about me behind my back."

"Evelyn Grant, I only want you."

If he were afraid, he wouldn’t have shown up here today.

It would be a lie to say Evelyn Grant wasn’t surprised.

She had never expected Ryan Sterling to choose her so resolutely.

After all, in her past relationship with Julian Sterling, Evelyn Grant had been subconsciously brainwashed into believing she was the one who should always be giving, and that even if she wasn’t chosen, she had no right to complain!

And now, a man even more outstanding than Julian Sterling was saying these things to her!

He didn’t dare to hope for too much all at once.
