I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 189: Ryan Sterling, I am your mother
For one, she felt humiliated being told off.
On the other hand…
…she really was in the wrong.
Faced with the siblings’ accusations, she was rendered speechless and could only lower her head and plead.
“Mom, I know everything you’re doing to help Evelyn Grant and me get back together! I promise I’ll make it worth your while!”
“I don’t want to hear all that right now. Just tell me, how much longer will it take for you to remarry her? If this keeps dragging on, I really don’t want to be involved anymore.”
Julian Sterling paused on the other end of the line before saying in a low voice, “Soon! Six months at the absolute latest. I will definitely get her to remarry me.”
Florence Morgan raised a hand to rub her brow. “Fine. As long as you have a plan.”
After hanging up, she took a deep breath and started walking toward her car.
She had just spotted her driver when, a second later, a dark figure suddenly blocked her view.
Florence Morgan instinctively looked up—
It was her younger son, Ryan Sterling.
“…” For some reason, she felt a pang of guilt.
“My brother sent you, didn’t he.” It wasn’t a question, but a statement.
Ryan Sterling was already certain of the answer.
“No, that’s not it! I heard Eve was sick, so I came to check on her.” Florence Morgan instinctively tried to cover for her son.
Ryan Sterling’s lips twitched into a smirk. “Then how did you know Evelyn Grant was sick and in the hospital?”
“…”
“I doubt she would’ve called you herself to tell you she was in the hospital, especially not right now.”
Florence Morgan had just been berated by Alex Grant inside, and now she was being interrogated by her own son. The anger she’d been suppressing suddenly boiled over.
“Do you have any idea who you’re talking to? Ryan Sterling, I am your mother! Is that any way to speak to me?!”
Ryan Sterling laughed. “Mom, have I not been speaking to you respectfully? Didn’t I tell you to stop interfering in anything that has to do with Evelyn Grant? If she still loves my brother, they’ll get back together on their own. If she can’t accept him, then you don’t need to run to my brother and help him make things worse, forcing them back together!”
“What do you know! Do you think your brother’s divorce is something to be proud of? People will laugh if they find out! All I’m doing is trying to keep your brother’s marriage intact. What have I done that’s so wrong that both of you have to come after me like this?!”
Florence Morgan felt that as an elder, her role was obviously to encourage reconciliation, not separation! How could she just stand by and watch her son get divorced without doing anything?
“And didn’t I tell you to stay out of my brother’s business?”
“That’s because you’re in love with Evelyn Grant! Of course you don’t want them back together!” Florence Morgan frowned and threw up her hands. “Besides, it’s impossible between you and Eve now, so why are you still getting involved in this!”
As soon as she said it, she realized something was off and asked directly, “You’re questioning me, but I should be asking you! What are you doing here?”
“…”
“No matter what, Evelyn Grant was your sister-in-law! Every single one of our friends and relatives in the Sterling family knows her as your older brother’s wife! Ryan, even if you don’t care about anything else, you have to think about our family’s reputation! Stop dwelling on pointless fantasies!”
“That’s my business.”
“Don’t tell me you still haven’t given up on pursuing Eve? She will never accept you!”
