Ye Qianning rose from her seat and walked toward the staircase. Before she could head up, she saw Huo Feng walk in through the entrance with Huo Liran.

Huo Feng froze for a moment when he saw Ye Qianning. "Miss... Miss Ye."

Ye Qianning nodded and headed upstairs.

"What’s with the attitude?" Huo Liran had been recuperating for several days and was still weak, but her tongue was as sharp as ever.

Huo Feng turned and glared at her. "Have you forgotten what I told you? You’d better watch yourself. Miss Ye isn’t someone we can afford to provoke."

"So what if her father’s good at martial arts? If we were in Qingzhou..."

"Qingzhou this, Qingzhou that! Why don’t you just stay in Qingzhou forever and never leave!" Huo Feng flicked his sleeve and stormed upstairs, ignoring her.

Huo Liran nodded, though she was curious. She pushed the door open. The room was somewhat dim, and a faint, clean fragrance hung in the air. She stepped inside and placed the dishes on the table.

Qin Fuwei waited at the door. ’What a perfect chance to see him up close,’ she thought, a pang of regret hitting her. ’I can’t believe I gave the opportunity to that woman.’

A moment later, Huo Liran emerged from the room, her eyes wide with a mixture of shock and utter amazement.

Seeing her reaction, Qin Fuwei asked cautiously, "Did he say anything?"

It took a long moment for Huo Liran to snap out of her daze. She grabbed Qin Fuwei’s hand. "Who is that gentleman in the room?"
