I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?
Chapter 675: Many People Are Still Waiting for Her
Ye Qianning’s physical injuries had long since healed; the severe wound was to her heart.
For a year or two, she had to carefully control every breath. She couldn’t rush it, forced to respire at a steady, deliberate pace.
That year or two was the most difficult time of her life, but whenever she thought about the many people who might be waiting for her, she didn’t find it so agonizing.
She focused single-mindedly on nursing her body back to health, waiting for the day she could see her dad and her master again.
This island was isolated from the rest of the world, with no news ever getting through. She guessed it was probably because it was too far from the coast.
Besides the birds on the island itself, when she stood at its highest point and looked out, she hadn’t seen a single bird fly past in ten years.
The island also seemed to have a magical quality. Many of the birds and other creatures looked exactly the same as they did when she first saw them as a child. They never grew old or died, nor did they ever grow bigger.
Ye Qianning was practically the rarest species on the island. Birds would land on her windowsill all day long. She was like an exhibit in a zoo, becoming a tourist attraction for the island’s fauna.
She went from being chubby and small to gradually growing up and transforming.
Her real growth spurt began four years ago after her body had fully recovered. She shot up in height, and her weight dropped like crazy. No matter how much she ate, she kept losing weight.
She ended up this thin. The old Taoist had been scared out of his wits at first, thinking there was something terribly wrong with her.
If Ye Qianning hadn’t been skilled in medicine herself and able to confirm that all her vital signs were normal, she too would have been certain she had contracted some terrible disease.
SQUEAK SQUEAK. The little monkey slowly stirred awake.
It did a somersault on the ground and then leaped to its feet.
"You’re awake," Ye Qianning said, looking down at it with a smile.
SQUEAK. The little monkey nodded.
"Dun Dun, I’m leaving the island the day after tomorrow. From now on, you don’t have to be afraid of the old Taoist. He’s all bark and no bite; he won’t hit you," Ye Qianning said, reaching out to stroke the little monkey’s head.
Seven years ago, she still couldn’t move properly. The little monkey came to her side, and at first, she just thought it was curious.
Until one time, when she stumbled out of bed, the little monkey reached out a paw to steady her. It led her out into the courtyard, and then came back to get a piece of clothing to drape over her.
Only then did she suddenly realize that the little monkey had come to take care of her.
The white monkey was extremely intelligent. Even though she didn’t speak to it, it always seemed to know what she needed.
The little fellow had taken care of her for seven straight years. After spending all that time together day in and day out, she truly couldn’t bear to leave it.
SQUEAK...
Hearing this, the little monkey let out a whimper and hugged Ye Qianning’s leg. It raised its small, white head, its eyes glistening with tears.
Ye Qianning couldn’t bear to see it like this. Her heart ached for it. "I’ll come back to visit you and the old Taoist in the future."
The little monkey shook its head. ’No, no, I want to go with you.’
Ye Qianning froze for a moment. ’Go together?’
She had never considered it. This island was very strange; this phenomenon was likely caused by some kind of natural force that could freeze the growth rate here.
Here, they could live for a very, very long time...
"No," she refused flatly.
’If it leaves, it will start to grow, and its life will gradually diminish. Taking it away would be a death sentence.’
The tears welling in the little monkey’s eyes immediately fell. It let go of Ye Qianning and ran out the door, squeaking.
Ye Qianning’s heart ached, but she couldn’t take any of the island’s animals with her. ’Let him cry,’ she thought. ’Being soft-hearted now would only harm the little fellow.’
Over the past ten years, her "space" had also been constantly changing. Even though she did nothing, the space would still intermittently increase its "blessing value." She had no idea why.
