Chapter 1359: Chapter 1358: Duped
Luo Yixuan and Luo Yiqian were completely drawn in by the abandoned house in front of them. They had never seen such a dilapidated place before, and just seeing it stirred up a strong urge to explore.
After helping Baobao Sen up, the two of them walked toward the abandoned house, not noticing that Baobao Sen had stopped behind them, standing still with a mocking smile at the corner of his mouth.
Luo Yixuan and Luo Yiqian stood at the doorway and looked around for a moment. The wooden door was already damaged, so they could see what was inside. At a glance, there was only a bed and a table, both covered in dirt, almost unrecognizable.
Seeing this, the two of them felt reassured and walked in.
They wanted to see the wild eggs inside.
They’d eaten this kind of game plenty of times, but finding it themselves was a first; just thinking about it felt really fun.
After they went in, they glanced around in all directions but didn’t see any wild eggs. The house was really small, and the window was broken too; it looked like it would snap off with a single pull.
Just as they were observing, a sudden "bang" sounded behind them. The two of them jumped and hurriedly turned back, only to see that the broken wooden door had been shut.
Luo Yixuan and Luo Yiqian exchanged a look, not feeling panicked. They stepped forward and pushed at the door, discovering they couldn’t budge it; it must have been jammed from the outside.
"You big sisters really have no sense of vigilance."
A mocking voice rang out—same voice, different tone, as if it had turned into someone else.
"What is it you’re doing?" Luo Yixuan asked.
Her voice was very calm.
The voice that had sounded so cute before was now full of malice. He let out two low laughs. "Isn’t it obvious what I’m doing? Helping you big sisters learn to be wary."
Luo Yiqian looked at Luo Yixuan. The two of them met each other’s gaze; though they both stayed calm, the disappointment in their eyes was obvious.
They’d thought they’d made a friend.
Too bad.
"So, are we supposed to thank you?" Luo Yixuan went on, turning to look at the window behind her.
They couldn’t open the door, but the window was no problem.
"No need. You can just stay here and play nicely, hahaha."
Baobao Sen’s laughter was full of smugness; it was easy to picture just how nasty his expression must be right now.
"I’m not wasting my time with you. You can just stay here. Too bad no one ever comes here—you’re probably going to die in this place."
With that said, footsteps sounded outside the door. Baobao Sen really left.
Standing just inside the door, the two girls felt very conflicted. Their original excitement had long since been washed away, nowhere near the thrill and happiness they’d started out with.
"Qian, don’t be sad," Luo Yixuan said, looking at Luo Yiqian whose head was hanging low.
With a soft sigh, Luo Yiqian lifted her head and smiled at Luo Yixuan. "I’m not sad. It’s not like I’m alone."
As she spoke, her gaze suddenly halted.
Sensing something, Luo Yixuan followed her line of sight and saw, on the dust-covered bed, right up against the corner by the wall, a little nest of wild eggs. They weren’t very big, but they looked smooth and cute.
"There really are wild eggs." Luo Yixuan laughed.
The two of them hopped onto the bed; the boards immediately creaked and groaned. They stopped moving at once, and Luo Yixuan was the first to jump back down. The bed boards stopped making strange noises.
The task fell to Luo Yiqian. She stepped over and took the wild eggs down.
Her overalls were denim. Although they had pockets, they lay tight against her clothes—putting the eggs in would crush them.
"Two each, it’ll be easier to carry that way." Luo Yiqian said with a smile, handing Luo Yixuan two eggs.
