Chapter 1277: Chapter 1276: Handling Affairs
"This guy is just an old rogue. We didn’t want to buy his lumber, but he insisted on selling them to us—forcing us to buy and sell. He won’t leave, affecting our business, and no matter how we tried to persuade him, it didn’t work. Eventually, we got upset." One of the men who was involved in the fight said.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t bother explaining to four kids. However, he and the others saw a few soldiers walking over from the intersection and thought they were being busybodies, so he explained loudly. It seemed like he was talking to Luo Yirui and the others, but actually, he was speaking to the soldiers.
Luo Yirui and Little Fatty exchanged glances. If this was the case, it seemed they really were being meddlesome.
Uncle cried, "We agreed on this beforehand. You said you would buy it, that’s why I brought it over. I’ve already transported it here, and now you’ve changed your mind. Anyway, I don’t care. If you don’t buy it, I’m not leaving. I won’t leave even if you beat me to death!"
The man across spread his hands, "You see, this guy is just an old rogue. What agreement? Is there a contract? Is there an agreement? You can’t just say it and have it be right."
At first glance, it indeed seemed that Uncle was being unreasonable. Luo Yirui and the others were young and didn’t know how to deal with it.
The soldiers stopped a short distance away. The platoon leader ordered them to see what the four kids planned to do.
Luo Yirui asked, "Uncle, can’t you find another buyer?"
Uncle shook his head, "In this town, there’s only this one place that buys lumber."
The price they offered was quite good, which is why he traveled so far to bring them here.
The man saw that the soldiers didn’t come closer and felt confident in his reasoning. He said, "Since you know him, quickly take him away. He’s affecting our business."
Luo Yirui really disliked the man’s attitude, always acting superior while taking advantage.
Uncle was infuriated, "I’m not leaving! You agreed to buy my lumber. If you don’t buy it, I’m not moving!"
Luo Yirui found it quite troubling how stubborn Uncle was.
The deputy platoon leader noticed the stalemate and, considering the time problem, stepped forward and said, "Comrades, no matter the reason, hitting someone is wrong."
"Yes, yes, we were just really upset." The man smiled apologetically, realizing it’s better not to offend soldiers, especially so many of them.
The deputy platoon leader continued, "Besides, you were in the wrong in the first place. We understand the situation. This uncle has been delivering lumber to you, and others have signed agreements. Only you didn’t sign with him, and on top of that, his lumber’s price is much lower than others."
The two were suddenly feeling guilty, their eyes darting around, muttering, "His lumber quality isn’t great..."
The deputy platoon leader let out a cold laugh, "You know very well why you don’t want his lumber anymore. This time you’ve got enough supply to bully him, exploiting him because he has no other supply channels. Anyway, if he can’t deliver to you, he has nowhere else to go, right?"
Luo Yirui and the others listened in bewilderment. How did they find all this out in such a short amount of time? This kind of ability to handle situations and tactics was beyond him.
Uncle himself couldn’t articulate such logical and sequential arguments. He just knew that they had agreed on this, or else he wouldn’t have delivered it. Plus, with this delivery, he could save enough money for medical treatment, so no matter what, he had to unload this truckload of lumber.
