Chapter 1257: Chapter 1256: Tree Roots

Luo Yirui walked as he thought, unknowingly going quite far. Worried he might get lost, he didn’t dare to continue further and began to wander around. This area was just as drenched; the rain earlier was so heavy that almost nothing was spared.

As he was thinking, Luo Yirui suddenly saw a few big tree roots lying under a small hillside!

Upon seeing these tree roots, Luo Yirui was overjoyed and ran over immediately.

These tree roots were all under the protruding hillside, and only a small part was wet, while the rest remained dry!

The tree roots were not small, and Luo Yirui knew he couldn’t carry them alone. Seeing the weather as it was, it was too late to go back and call Xuan Ge. He immediately rolled up his sleeves, gathered them a bit, and began to drag two larger roots and one smaller root back.

The weight of the roots wasn’t heavy; they just kept snagging on things. Luo Yirui found dragging them on the ground a bit taxing, but luckily, halfway through, Xuan Ge came over to help. With his assistance, Luo Yirui managed to run back to grab two more.

"Why are there so many tree roots?" Xuan Ge was astonished; this was enough to burn until dawn!

Luo Yirui beamed, "Lucky, even the heavens are helping us!"

Xuan Ge found it odd; could the heavens really have helped by digging out the roots and gathering them together?

Though he found it strange, they had something to use now, so he didn’t think much of it.

The two dragged back five tree roots, which made Little Fatty very happy.

Soon after Luo Yirui left, a leisurely fifty-something uncle wearing a thick coat walked over. Upon seeing that half of the roots he had laboriously gathered under the hillside were gone, he immediately started to bellow.

Of course, Luo Yirui knew nothing of this and missed a meeting spot connecting to the outside world.

The cave was big enough; a fire inside would be particularly warm.

"This meadow is a bit damp," Luo Yirui noted, looking at the layer of dark, dry grass on the ground, clearly wet, with some fallen leaves on it.

Xuan Ge said, "Let’s get some back; there’s a fire now, it will dry out. If Jing Yuansi sleeps on the ground, even with your talismanic water, she’ll catch something eventually."

Suddenly, Luo Yirui recalled a term his aunt used often, "warm man!"

Xuan Ge seemed quite proud, but he was a warm man indeed.

Little Fatty directly placed a tree root onto the small fire pile; now the small fire was nearly out. With Little Fatty’s persistent fanning, the dry tree roots finally caught fire.

Feeling the warmth, the three youngsters cheered up.

"I’ll make her a talisman," Luo Yirui said.

Xuan Ge and Little Fatty immediately nodded, moved to the other side of the fire, and sat down with their backs turned. Talisman making is a very private affair; that time Luo Yirui had no choice, but such matters are rarely shown openly.

Luo Yirui saw them avoiding the matter, didn’t say much, and quickly began crafting a Spiritual Talisman. Unfortunately, without the auxiliary herbs, he hadn’t found any suitable wild herbs during his walk.

Spiritual Talismans were already second nature to Luo Yirui, and he quickly crafted a Xuan Talisman for Jing Yuansi to consume; he also crafted three cold-expelling and body-strengthening Xuan Talismans for them.

Though Xuan Ge and Little Fatty had their backs turned to Luo Yirui and didn’t see the scene, they knew what he was doing, and couldn’t help but recall the ’factory’ moment.

His blue-green aura was much more intense than Hou Baiyu’s.
