I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1970 - 1057: Pursuit (Part 2)
Chapter 1970: Chapter 1057: Pursuit (Part 2)
The entire Shadow squirmed and churned wildly, the pitch-black ink-like air currents constantly twisting and pulling.
Sometimes converging into a mass, sometimes spreading out, carrying an extreme panic and fear.
It seemed to glimpse a terrifying existence capable of completely annihilating itself, no longer maintaining its previous hidden and dormant status, solely wishing to escape this region.
It wanted to blend into the surrounding environment, completely hidden to escape, fleeing from Lis’s control range.
Lis, perceiving the Shadow’s intention to flee, naturally would not allow this strange unknown existence to escape at will.
With a thought, the thousands of Rule Power concealed around him instantly awakened.
Under the command of the Wisdom Rule, countless Rule Threads as fine as silk and as tough as steel appeared out of thin air.
They crisscrossed and overlapped in layers, quickly weaving into a Rule Net that, in a sense, was airtight.
The invisible Rule Net instantly shrouded the entire Void, precisely sealing off all the Space where the Shadow resided, forcibly isolating this piece of heaven and earth from the outside world, forming a completely enclosed Rule Domain.
No force or matter could penetrate this barrier, completely cutting off all possibilities for the Shadow to hide or flee.
There was not the slightest omission, not a single dead angle, the perfect Rule Seal firmly trapping the Shadow within a tiny space.
Lis had somewhat understood the peculiarities of this Shadow, and naturally, he could make targeted preparations.
Yet, he was not in a hurry to suppress it; instead, he stood quietly in place.
Lis’s gaze scrutinized the pitch-black Shadow in front of him, which was violently struggling and madly ramming against the Rule Net, patiently probing all its characteristics.
The peculiarities of this Shadow far exceeded all dark and Shadow creatures and forces he had previously encountered and understood.
Even though he had previously spread his full spiritual power, covering the entire Jonas City, meticulously scanning every inch of Space and every strand of energy, he had not detected the slightest trace of this Shadow.
As Stephens had said, it was like a blind spot completely beyond conventional perception, silently lurking in the city.
If it weren’t for Cole reporting the abnormal disturbance here in time, perhaps no one would have discovered its existence.
At the same time, the situation previously described by Stephens was also confirmed at this moment.
Lis attempted to invoke the vast Magic Power circulating around him, letting the mighty Magic Energy invade and envelop this Shadow.
However, the result was surprisingly astonishing; the previously unstoppable Magic Power was completely ineffective at this moment.
All the Magic Energy, upon touching the Shadow, would silently sweep past, unable to impose the slightest binding or harm, not even stirring a ripple.
The complete Magic immunity of this special trait sparked a strong interest in Lis’s heart to explore.
He had witnessed all sorts of Demon and peculiar existences but had never encountered such a unique Shadow life form.
Not even the Divine had exhibited such power traits.
Yet the Shadow before him did not resemble an ordinary illusory Shadow life; it had an almost real physical texture, not an ethereal energy conglomerate.
But under Lis’s keen Divine Soul perception, there was no trace of mental fluctuations within, no autonomous consciousness or self-will, like a hollow shell under manipulation.
Coupling it with its stealth within the city and targeted hunting of Mages, Lis felt he had grasped more clues.
This was by no means a naturally born Shadow existence but a Shadow creation meticulously controlled by an unknown hidden existence.
It lay dormant in Jonas City, with the Mages in the city as its hunting targets, secretly preying on and hunting Mages.
To thoroughly uncover the core secrets of this Shadow and verify more of its traits, Lis slowly raised his hand.
This time, he abandoned all use of Magic Power and instead mobilized his own Power of Faith, which had been refined countless times to utter purity.
A strand of pure and flawless Power of Faith, containing belief and source rules, flowed out, gently encompassing the restless Shadow.
The result was apparent; the previously completely Magic-immune mysterious Shadow, upon touching the Power of Faith, was instantly suppressed, the insane squirming magnitude significantly reduced.
It was thoroughly restrained in place, unable to wantonly crash struggle anymore.
"It seems that only Magic is immune."
Lis murmured, the eagerness for exploration in his eyes growing stronger.
He wielded the gentle Power of Faith, slowly permeating the inside of the Shadow, attempting to penetrate its ominous surface and explore its core principles, as well as to find traces of the manipulative force behind it, preparing to unravel this mysterious Shadow.
But at the critical moment when the Power of Faith was about to touch the Shadow’s core, the tightly confined dark Shadow suddenly erupted with an unprecedented violent shaking.
The entire Shadow convulsed and twisted, its surface constantly cracking with fine black points of light, and a force of annihilation suddenly exploded.
Lis’s mind raced, and he immediately deployed more Power of Faith and Rule Power to layer upon layer seal it, forcibly suppressing it, attempting to stabilize the Shadow that was about to disintegrate, holding onto the only clue available.
But the manipulator behind the scenes was extremely ruthless, having already embedded the Shadow with self-destructive power.
As soon as it faced unhindered confinement or risked being explored, it would trigger self-annihilation.
No matter how hard Lis tried to stop it, it was still in vain.
After the violent tremor, the massive dark Shadow collapsed with a roar, transforming into countless tiny fragments of black Dust.
Like smoke blown away by the wind, it dissipated instantly in the sealed Rule Space, leaving not a trace behind.
Not even a slightest energy fluctuation nor a wisp of Rule Qi remained, completely vanished without a trace.
Lis gazed into the empty Void, his eyes slightly deepening, instantly grasping the crucial element within.
This is typical of a lizard sacrificing its tail to escape!
Yet in the fleeting sense he just felt, he already gleaned the information he sought.
Lis shook his head, turned, and spoke to Stephens and the others behind him:
"Leave it to me, I will resolve this matter."
"Teacher and Lady Tarinda, please help stabilize the situation in Jonas City."
"Alright."
Stephens and Tarinda nodded, not saying much.
Though not clearly explaining what the Shadow was, they trusted Lis to resolve this crisis.
Lis’s figure suddenly vanished from the spot, and in the next moment, he was already standing airborne over Jonas City.
The robe was gently fluttered by the high-altitude breeze, Lis surrounded by a gentle yet majestic aura, gazing down at the surging Magic City below.
No earth-shattering roars, nor a Shock comparable to divine awe.
The vast and boundless Power of Faith slowly flowed from Lis’s body, transforming into countless delicate and soft off-white light rain, showering down generously, covering the entirety of Jonas City.
The crystalline points of light fell like a fragmented star river descending to the mortal realm.
The clear glow dispelled the gloom and denseness accumulated over the city for days, enveloping every corner, every street, and every home.
The city’s citizens nearly simultaneously detected the anomaly in the sky.
Pedestrians on the streets halted and lifted their heads, their gazes locked onto the sky’s falling light rain.
The mages within the city were particularly sensitive, clearly perceiving the power contained within the light rain.
Despite this extraordinary power enveloping the city, it did not stir fear or discomfort; instead, it soothed all the anxiety and fright within their hearts.
Recently, the strange incidents in Jonas City had left the entire city under oppressive Panic.
Everyone in a state of fear, hearts uneasy.
But now, bathed in the gentle white light rain, everyone’s taut nerves suddenly relaxed, feeling endless peace and reassurance, as though all Darkness and calamity would be wholly isolated by this pure white radiance.
As the light rain spread out, Lis’s form, hovering in midair, became fully visible in everyone’s line of sight.
The pale white glow accentuated his imposing and Holy figure, carrying a dignified authoritative presence.
Without exception, citizens and mages across the city bowed their heads and bent low in reverence, paying respectful homage to the Councilman in the sky.
In this city’s helpless moment, the sudden arrival of Lis was like the dawn breaking forth, instantly piercing through the shadow shrouding the entire city, injecting unwavering confidence into the turbulent Jonas City.
Everybody held a steadfast belief in their hearts, confident that Lis, as the Fourth Councilman would surely clear the city’s mysteries, resolve all crises, and safeguard the community with a stable life!
