I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1962 - 1053: Yor’s Ordeal (Part 2)
Chapter 1962: Chapter 1053: Yor’s Ordeal (Part 2)
After all, the reason she entered this mysterious space was likely located within this alley.
If she ran away from this alley, she could easily get lost in this space.
This is what Yor learned from the countermeasure guidelines for facing various dangers organized in the [Source of All Magic].
The more dangerous the place, the more likely it might be the solution to the predicament.
However, choosing to face the dilemma head-on requires strength as a basic prerequisite.
Can I do it?
Yor hesitated for a moment, then stopped dwelling on the question.
Do your best!
She didn’t want to wait in such a place, waiting for rescue that might never come.
Every minute staying here would mean more danger.
Yor forced herself to endure the fear in her heart and directly stared at the wriggling shadow on the ground beside the alley.
Trying to avoid that shadow, Yor ran deeper into the alley.
Time is short, must hurry!
Yor felt a sense of urgency, but her actions showed no hesitation.
As she moved forward, she cast multiple protection spells on herself and then charged headfirst into the dark alley.
Upon entering the alley, Yor immediately felt the air around her solidify, or it was as if she was suddenly swallowed by some eerie presence.
The shadows around her blatantly emitted a greedy desire, seemingly coveting Yor’s body.
Yor could no longer stop her steps, charging directly towards the depths of the alley.
The deep, narrow alley was terrifyingly silent, as Yor’s feet quickly stepped across the cold, rough bluestone ground.
The urgent footsteps echoed in the empty alley, with layered echoes enhancing the eerie oppressive atmosphere around them.
Her gaze was fixed on the turning point deep within the alley; as long as she passed that corner, she might temporarily escape this bizarre area.
She dared not slack off, constantly on guard against unknown dangers lurking beneath.
But just as her figure flitted and she was about to sidestep toward the corner, an unexpected change erupted without warning.
The shadows clinging to the wall crevices and ground furrows, as if awakened from their dormant state, suddenly began to frantically writhe and surge.
Those dark shadows were no longer stationary lights and shadows but expanded rapidly, as if they had gained vibrant life and substance.
The pitch-black shadows continuously stretched and extended, transforming into thick and sticky, eerily cold black mud exuding a dead stillness.
These sludge-like shadows flowed rustlingly, completely sealing the front, rear, and sides of the alley, coming to envelop Yor from all directions.
The shadow mud possessed a strong devouring nature and oppressive feeling, making even the air cold and stagnant, as if trying to envelop all living beings within its range.
The abrupt change caused an uncontrollable shock to surge in Yor’s eyes, activating alarm bells in her heart.
She had encountered strange phenomena before, but never such domineering shadow power.
The shock quickly passed; her years of training left her neither flustered nor distracted. Her body’s response far exceeded her thoughts, her movements smooth without a trace of stiffness.
In the next instant, Yor slammed her foot down, halting her forward charge, and then abruptly began retreating.
She retreated with a speed faster than her initial charge, trying to put some distance between herself and the surrounding shadows.
Meanwhile, the magic wand tightly gripped in her hand trembled suddenly, its gemstone releasing a dazzling azure light of magic power.
Simultaneously, the magic talisman and enchanted armor she wore began emitting layers of iridescent white light, enveloping her in warm and abundant magic power.
Rich magic power surged from the magic wand, forming several powerful and sharp magic attacks, which screamed through the air, fiercely slashing at the encroaching black shadows.
Scorching fireballs wreathed in searing heat waves, razor-sharp wind blades with piercing sounds, and several highly penetrating magic light spears...
These magic attacks layered and continuously bombarded the black mud.
During the retreat, numerous thoughts flashed rapidly through Yor’s mind, weighing heavily on her heart.
Something is definitely wrong!
Reality turned out to be far crueler than she anticipated; the scene before her caught her completely off guard, sending a chill to the depths of her soul.
All the rushing magical attacks, whether scorching high-temperature fireballs, swift and sharp wind blades, or pure magic light spikes, merely paused for a moment upon contact with the pitch-black sludge.
No ripple, no fluctuation arose.
The dazzling magic light, like sparks thrown into the deep sea, was instantly engulfed and completely dissolved by the thick shadow, leaving no trace of its former power.
The magical offensive fell entirely short; the bizarre black sludge seemed to possess an endless devouring power, impervious to any magical damage.
It continued with a slow, inevitable momentum, layer upon layer, bearing down to engulf Yor behind in retreat.
The rapidly moving shadow closed all distances instantly, leaving Yor with no chance to cast another spell or teleport away.
The chilling, clammy darkness suddenly enveloped her limbs and torso; in just a moment, her whole body was entirely surrounded and swallowed by the heavy shadow sludge.
In the blink of an eye, Yor was plunged into boundless darkness, all light and sound in the world vanished, leaving only the piercing cold and suffocating oppression surrounding her.
A domineering and wild suction came from the surrounding shadows, frantically tearing and draining the magic from within her.
She could distinctly feel her flowing magic rapidly vanishing and dissipating at an alarming speed, the once abundant magic swiftly depleting.
The swift loss of magic brought a strong sense of exhaustion; a wave of weakness and limpness surged through her limbs and bones, as if all strength was being gradually siphoned away.
Her magic power failed completely; she could only grit her teeth and muster all her physical strength to struggle desperately.
The body wrapped in shadow sludge continuously twisted and resisted, causing the heavy black mud to violently rise and fall.
One could even see clearly the outline of her struggling form beneath the layer of shadows.
But the restraining force of this shadow far exceeded imagination, like countless cold tentacles tightly entwining her flesh.
The more she struggled, the tighter the binding became.
Magic continued to be drawn endlessly, the feeling of weakness swept over her completely, her struggles gradually weakened and slowed.
The violent writhing slowly abated, leaving only occasional feeble, powerless tremors, indicating her last struggle.
Time slowly passed; the alley showed no sign of movement, descending into dead silence.
A moment later, the black sludge encasing the silhouette gently wriggled and contracted, gradually shedding its solid form like a tide gently ebbing.
The dense black mud continuously decomposed and faded, transforming again into fragmented shadow lines, seeping slowly along wall crevices and ground grooves, ultimately merging completely into the surrounding shadows.
In just a few breaths, all the bizarre phenomena completely dissipated, the alley returned to its original dark and silent state, the walls and ground left only with mottled shadows.
It was as if the terrifying devouring had never happened.
...
No one knows how long had passed,
Yor vaguely opened her eyes.
She found herself completely enveloped by shadows, unable even to lift a finger.
The area before her was obscured by shadows, only allowing her a vague view of nearby surroundings.
At that moment, Yor saw Cole and Nelson appear not far away, seemingly searching for something.
Are they... here... to find me?
Yor wished to call for help, but realized no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t utter any sound.
She struggled mightily, but her body felt as though pressed by a thousand-pound burden; effort resulted only in slight movement.
It seemed Cole noticed something, looking in her direction.
Yor felt overjoyed, but soon noticed Cole seemed somewhat puzzled.
After casting a few more glances, he withdrew his gaze.
This...
What should I do?
Despair crept into Yor’s heart.
