Chapter 692 - 381: The Secret of Plundering Origin Genes

  • Next Chapter

Su Ze took the opportunity to plunder the female Dou Race member’s Origin Gene as well, then casually collected all the spoils.

He then looked up at the Dou Race spaceship overhead.

The spaceship immediately reacted like a startled bird, turning around to flee.

A few Star Gods on the neighboring Desolate Star had been drawn over by the battle between Su Ze and the two Moon Gods. Seeing their own Moon God fall in battle, they instantly knew the situation was dire. They tried to escape to the spaceship, only to see it abandon them and flee on its own.

They immediately cursed the pilot and their entire family a hundred times over in their minds and could only scatter in all directions.

Star Gods were capable of flying and surviving in space, but their speed and endurance couldn’t possibly compare to a spaceship’s.

Su Ze didn’t bother chasing the fleeing Star Gods. Instead, he had Mr. Ya board the Magic Cube, and they set off in pursuit of the fleeing Dou Race spaceship.

The Magic Cube caught up to the Dou Race spaceship in just a few moments. Since it was cloaked, the enemy vessel remained completely unaware and continued its desperate escape.

Su Ze kept the Magic Cube tailing them at a leisurely pace. He didn’t use the Ray Cannon or the Star-Catching Net, choosing instead to follow them all the way.

He wanted to see just where this band of Dou Race members had their lair.

Generally, refugee races like these tried to avoid discovery by their enemies. They would do as the Human Race did: find a habitable planet that had not yet awakened its evolutionary power.

Besides, planets with awakened evolutionary power weren’t easy to find. Once a planet awakened, it meant it could provide a steady supply of evolutionary resources, which made it vastly more valuable.

A planet that hadn’t awakened its evolutionary power, no matter how ideal its environment, was of little interest or value to anyone.

Artificially awakening the evolutionary power of an ordinary planet was by no means an easy task. It seemed only an Ancestral God could do it, and even then, it required a considerable price.

Blue Star, for example, had its evolutionary power forcibly awakened by Mr. Ao and the Creation Dream Butterfly.

Su Ze was now intent on either eliminating or driving away this group from the Dou Race. He planned to first pinpoint their base of operations and get a rough estimate of their strength.

If they weren’t too strong, he would handle them himself. He already met the conditions for his eighth evolution; once he became a Moon God, his power would take a massive leap forward.

Basically, as long as there wasn’t a Sun God-level expert among them, he could take care of the Dou Race on his own.

If a Sun God was present, he would leak their location to the Illusion Race and let them do the dirty work.

The Dou Race were lawless thugs who ran rampant. If they weren’t eliminated, they would hinder Zexing’s development.

The Magic Cube quietly tailed the Dou Race spaceship for several days. During this time, Su Ze took stock of his gains from the battle.

The greatest reward from the battle was, without a doubt, the increase in his own power.

He had obtained a new skill—the Tier-8 divine ability "Forbidden Demon Domain"—and plundered a large quantity of Dou Race Origin Genes.

The Dou Race Origin Genes he had just plundered were clearly different from the Bag Race Origin Genes he had taken before. They were also unlike the Origin Genes of other races he had obtained from the Inheritance Crystals.

When Su Ze had previously absorbed the Origin Genes of other races from the Inheritance Crystals, he had discovered that the resulting power boost was the same, regardless of whether the Origin Gene came from a Strong Race or a Weak Race.

In other words, to Su Ze, there was no difference between a 10% Origin Gene from a Bottom-Feeder Race and a 10% Origin Gene from a first-rate race. He even suspected that the Origin Genes of a Dominator Race would be no exception.

All beings were created equal; at their inception, there was no significant power gap between the various Intelligent Races. It was only through the subsequent wars of extermination that the disparity gradually widened.

He had felt the same way when he plundered the Origin Genes of the Bag Race with his own hands.

The first time he killed a Bag Race expert and plundered their Origin Gene, the power boost it provided was no less than that from the Origin Genes of the Strong Races.

The difference was that the Bag Race expert he had plundered had, during his life, also plundered many experts from other races. Consequently, Su Ze had simultaneously acquired the Origin Genes of many other races in addition to the Bag Race’s.

However, those other Origin Genes were not integrated with the Bag Race’s own.

But with the Dou Race Origin Genes he had just plundered, the situation was clearly different.

When he entered a state of Genetic Introspection, he could clearly see the Origin Genes of other races continuously separating out from the Dou Race Origin Genes he had plundered.

These separating Origin Genes had varying degrees of completeness, but before he plundered them, they had all been fully integrated with the Dou Race’s own Origin Gene.

Clearly, these were not Origin Genes that the Dou Race expert had plundered during their lifetime.

’What did this mean?’

’They are both Intelligent Races, yet the Bag Race’s Origin Gene was homogenous, while the Dou Race’s contained layer upon layer of Origin Genes from other races.’

’Moreover, most of these contained Origin Genes were from races he had never absorbed before.’

’What was the fundamental difference between the Bag Race and the Dou Race?’

’If there was a difference, the greatest one was their respective power levels—one was a fourth-rate race, the other a third-rate race.’

Suddenly, a flash of insight struck Su Ze. Something clicked into place.

’The power disparity between races is due to the difference in their Racial Talents. In the beginning, the Racial Talents of the Ten Thousand Races had no significant differences in strength. The gap only widened because of the successive wars of extermination...’

’Why would a war of extermination strengthen a Racial Talent? Unless...?’

Su Ze’s pupils contracted. He suddenly understood many things that had puzzled him for a long time.

’The Bag Race, as a Weak Race, has probably never initiated a war of extermination, never wiped out another Intelligent Race. That’s why their Origin Gene is so homogenous, containing only the genes of their own race.’
