I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 984 - 477: The One-Eyed Giant’s Wishes Are Coming True

After growing wings, Gauss experienced a brief moment of unfamiliarity before adapting to his new limbs. They wouldn’t exist permanently. Theoretically, they were merely the result of materializing Magic Power with a special Attribute. He could dismiss them at any time with a single thought, meaning his body hadn’t undergone any irreversible fundamental changes. This fact gave him some peace of mind.

The next moment, he began testing the effects of these wings. Since it was his first time growing dragon wings, he paused in deep thought for a moment, like a fledgling bird preparing to leave the nest and take to the skies for the very first time. With a shift in his thoughts, he controlled the wings to flap slowly.

WHOOSH!

Although the massive dragon wings on his back, stretching several meters long, flapped at an incredibly slow frequency, the powerful lift they generated far exceeded Gauss’s expectations. One flap, two flaps, three flaps—his body left the ground, shooting straight up until he hovered thirty meters in the air. He could feel that this flapping amplitude was still quite gentle. Once he increased the frequency, the resulting thrust would multiply by dozens of times.

"Is this what it feels like for a dragon to fly?" he wondered.

Although this wasn’t exactly Gauss’s first time leaving the ground and taking to the sky—he had learned the Flying Skill long ago, allowing him to break free from gravity’s shackles and embrace the blue sky—he had to admit that the experience of using the Flying Skill as a Magic Spell was vastly different from the sensation of true dragon wings propelling his body. Even the energy dragon wings Gauss had previously condensed showed a massive gap in Perception. After experiencing true physical flight, all his previous unorthodox methods felt utterly inadequate.

"This is true flight!" he exclaimed.

He suddenly felt like he could never go back to his old ways. Once you have seen the vast ocean, no other body of water can compare. These dragon wings granted him absolute freedom of flight. He no longer had to worry about a Magic Spell suddenly being canceled or suffering from other interference that could cause him to plummet. His precision and speed in flight control had also improved tremendously. Most importantly, he didn’t have to distract himself by consciously controlling the act of flying. It was now as simple as breathing, transforming into pure instinct. His efficiency in aerial combat would also be elevated to a whole new level.

Down below, everyone watching Gauss hover in the sky couldn’t help but reveal looks of envy. The weather was clear and bright today. Radiant sunlight spilled over Gauss and his pair of Platinum dragon wings, scattering an intoxicating spectrum of iridescent light. It was truly, incredibly beautiful.

However, while they were captivated by the sight, the dragon wings behind Gauss flapped once again. This time, the frequency was noticeably faster. The wings turned into a blur, and a powerful gust of wind kicked up from their edges. Gauss’s figure transformed into a straight Platinum line, vanishing from sight and leaving behind only a chorus of gasps and wistful gazes.

"So fast," he thought.

The surrounding scenery was rapidly left in the dust. The wind felt like tiny knives scraping across his body. Fortunately, he had already activated his equipping Magic to don the streamlined mithril soft armor Albena had forged for him, ensuring that wind resistance wouldn’t hinder his flight speed too much.

It didn’t take long for him to fly past the city walls and vanish into the surrounding peaks and dense forests. Cruising at an altitude of over a hundred meters, he could vaguely catch the faint, foul stench emanating from the Demons. In the eyes of a monster-slaying expert like him, nothing about these creatures could be hidden. Even digging a hole and burying themselves wouldn’t save them.

"You can’t hide," Gauss said with a faint smile. "Biological Positioning Skill."

The Magic Effect of this 4th-tier Spell quickly rippled outward, using him as the starting point. He made sure to scan for the most abundant types of monsters. Soon, this magical radar presented a crystal-clear distribution of the surrounding creatures in his mind.

"Found you."

With a flick of his wrist, he tossed several lumps of white clay in different directions. At first, they transformed into birds, flying at high speeds through the air. Upon reaching the airspace above their targets, these clay birds rapidly writhed and shape-shifted, turning into goblin-like bodies mid-air before plummeting from the sky.

This was the second Magic he had deeply developed, following his personalized research on the Dragon Roar Missile. Now, the summons generated by his Clay Magic could seamlessly shift between multiple forms. Sometimes they became freely soaring birds, sometimes fish swimming underwater, and other times sprinting beasts and monsters on land, drastically increasing their mobility. He no longer had to recall them to his side to cancel the Magic and recast it just to change their forms. The creatures he deployed would coordinate with the magical reconnaissance of the Biological Positioning Skill, locking onto targets and relentlessly carrying out his extermination orders.

Soon, they appeared above the small and medium-sized monster tribes scattered throughout the surrounding mountains and forests—tribes that were either lying in ambush or preparing to cross the mountains deep into human territory.

Inside a Kobold camp, dozens of Kobolds had just finished stewing their daytime meal. Their mission today was to cross the mountain range ahead and push deep into the plains. Just as the Kobold chieftain prepared to gather the tribe and begin the migration, a heavy, monstrous body suddenly plummeted from the sky and crashed right in front of him. From its appearance, it seemed to be a goblin.

As the Kobold chieftain hesitated over whether to fight or send someone forward to negotiate, the grounded "goblin" gave the Kobolds no time to react. With a few rapid sprints, its figure quickly enlarged in the chieftain’s bewildered eyes.
