Perhaps because this batch of goods had been rushed, it arrived even earlier than Gauss anticipated.

Early that morning, Gauss received notice that the resources he needed had been delivered to the front-line Adventurer’s Guild outpost. He was to go there to complete the exchange in person. After he casually mentioned it to Aaliyah and the others, they asked to tag along. Gauss naturally didn’t refuse.

The group made their way through the bustling camp and arrived at the Guild outpost.

The Guild outpost remained as busy as ever, with people coming and going. Though only a temporary outpost, it bore far more responsibilities than a standard Guild branch. Not only did it serve a massive number of Adventurers, but it also handled the registration of Adventurers arriving from out of town, ensuring that all operations around the battlefield proceeded in an orderly manner. It was precisely the contributions of these constantly arriving foreign Adventurers that kept the draining front-line battle relatively stable. The gaps left by the fallen and those retreating to the rear for medical treatment were continuously filled by newcomers.

"Is this the battlefield? It doesn’t look like much to me." A young man, brimming with fighting spirit, surveyed the hall and the surrounding Adventurers with eyes full of curiosity.

The companions beside him wore varying expressions. Only a young girl from his village tugged at his clothes, a look of disdain on her face.

"David, keep your voice down. You’re embarrassing," she hissed.

"How am I embarrassing?" The young man remained completely oblivious and laughed heartily. "Don’t worry, Isa. I’ll protect you." He patted the scabbard hanging at his waist, making a straightforward promise.

Suddenly, his gaze locked onto the main entrance. The words he was about to say caught in his throat.

Hearing his sudden silence, the girl, perhaps unaccustomed to it, looked up and noticed where he was staring. Following his line of sight, she spotted a group of people slowly walking through the doors. The way that group walked and carried themselves was unlike any Adventurers they usually encountered. The leader in particular, a man wearing a white robe, had an aura that made people want to steal a few extra glances.

However, she didn’t stare for long, quickly returning her focus to her childhood friend from the same village. In his eyes, she saw a rare, fiery glint of reverence and admiration.

"What are you looking at, David?" she asked.

She wondered what he could possibly be staring at. Recalling the two beautiful, near-perfect women walking behind the man, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy. But David, her fellow villager, looked completely dumbfounded, turning a deaf ear to her question.

Isa silently fumed. Turning to look at her other teammates, whom she had been with for almost a year, she found that their eyes were also glued to the entrance. She wondered what exactly was so captivating.

It wasn’t until the group made their way up the stairs that David and the others finally seemed to snap out of it, clicking their tongues in awe.

"Pretty, aren’t they? Look at you, you were completely mesmerized."

David heard Isa’s deliberately drawn-out voice beside him.

"Pretty?" He blinked, recalling his idol’s flawless face and that stature that, while not overly burly, was tall, straight, and powerful. Although slightly confused as to why Isa would ask such a question, he nodded anyway. "Of course. That’s my idol, Gauss! But his appearance is just one of his many insignificant merits. Isa, you’re too superficial. As Adventurers, we should care more about their adventure experience and strength," David lectured.

"G-Gauss?" Isa’s mind went blank.

She felt she should have heard that name before, but she couldn’t recall it in the moment. Of course, none of that mattered now. Since Gauss was a common male name, she thought back to the man walking at the very front. She wondered if he was the one David was staring at. Thinking about it carefully, his gaze did seem to be focused on the man rather than the people behind him. Realizing this, she quietly sighed in relief, the slight sourness in her heart easing considerably.

"See, you’ve forgotten again, haven’t you? I’ve mentioned him to you before. Gauss is..." David seized the opportunity to gush endlessly. One should never underestimate a fanboy’s desire to share facts about his idol.

Meanwhile, Gauss had already reached the upper floor.

In truth, with his current Perception and Intelligence Attribute, he could clearly capture the reactions and conversations of everyone else in the entire hall in an instant. As his fame grew, unless he deliberately disguised himself, he was being recognized in public with increasing frequency. Even though a significant portion of the people in the hall below were foreign Adventurers who had just arrived at the front lines, they were by no means unfamiliar with him.

"So many fresh faces," Aaliyah couldn’t help but remark. They rarely visited the Guild outpost. For an adventure group of the Red Dragon Team’s caliber, the Guild would dispatch dedicated liaison officers to handle their communications.

"Many of them must be from other provinces, right?" Albena added. Even within the Carlos Kingdom, there were subtle differences in the facial features and attire of natives from different provinces.

"You’re truly famous now, Gauss. There were so many of your admirers in that crowd just now." Aaliyah turned to look at the silent Gauss.

Gauss merely smiled. His thoughts, however, couldn’t help but drift back to those young, spirited faces in the hall.

The foreign Adventurers who made it here were usually those possessing a certain degree of confidence in their own strength. But on the battlefield, while relying solely on level one or two Profession strength certainly offered a better situation than a Bottom Adventurer, escaping this war in one piece was still no easy feat.
