Chapter 264: Chapter 174: The Technique Addiction Flares Up
「In the classroom.」
Students from Clinical Classes 1, 2, and 3 were sitting together in various sections.
Li Wei pushed a USB drive into the hands of a boy from Clinical Class 2.
"I just finished filling this up for you last night. A complete set of radiological anatomy atlases, plus two new high-definition movies."
The boy from Class 2 gave him a thumbs-up. "Brother Wei, you’re the man."
"Of course. I’ve said it before: always respect Jiang He, and always respect Clinical Class 2. We’re all brothers. When we get good stuff like this in the future, we’ll share it with each other."
A few other boys from Class 2 laughed along.
Lately, Li Wei had taken the initiative to drop his prideful attitude, using the resources he had to build bridges between the boys from the different classes.
Once the hot-blooded young men found some common ground, old grudges were forgotten faster than anything. Now, the boys from Class 1 and Class 2 were basically hanging out, playing basketball, and eating together.
In the middle rows of the classroom, Cheng Xiyao was focused on annotating research papers.
Lately, everyone had clearly noticed a change in the department belle.
Not far away, a few boys from Class 1 kept turning to look at her.
"Let me tell you guys something, but don’t spread it around." A boy with slightly long, choppy hair lowered his voice. "I think Cheng Xiyao is into me."
The boys next to him stopped chatting and turned to look at him.
"How so?"
"To be honest, I was eating in the second cafeteria the day before yesterday. I was walking past her table with my tray, and I felt like she was secretly looking at me. For real, her gaze lingered for at least two seconds."
Silence fell around them.
One of the boys broke the silence with a deadpan expression. "That impressive?"
"Yeah, what’s wrong with that?"
"Nothing." The boy turned back around. "You’d better not be so confident, or you’re going to get hurt badly."
The others all nodded, speechless, and went their separate ways.
Across the aisle from Cheng Xiyao, Chen Hao was also studying hard.
’I have no choice. The other members of the project team are just too strong.’
’Yi Xiangwan is a petite genius with a photographic memory. Lu Xiaolin is an experienced master’s student. Gu Yizhou is a cold-faced senior with incredibly meticulous clinical thinking. And Tang Pei is a senior with extremely precise techniques.’
’Being around this group, I always feel like I’m the dumbest one.’
’When Jiang He explains a mechanism, the others get it after hearing it just once.’
’I have to jot it down in a small notebook and review my textbooks two or three times back in the dorm to fully grasp it.’
’So all I can do is work hard! The clumsy bird has to start flying early!’
These past few days, besides running to the lab to process miRNA serum samples, he spent every spare moment poring over this material.
’I’m not aiming to dominate everything like Jiang He; I just want to avoid embarrassing the team.’
In the row behind Chen Hao, Li Zijian was catching up on sleep, while Wang Bo was frantically brainstorming a new outline for his web novel, muttering to himself:
"Definitely no cuckolding this time. I’ll write about face-slapping, breaking off engagements..."
Elsewhere, Zhou Yang and Lin Yue were huddled together, chatting.
A boy from Class 3, bored, came over to tease them.
"Zhou Yang, I’ve been watching for a while. Besides ’indeed,’ does your League Secretary know any other words? When you two are on a date, is it just you giving long speeches while she just says ’indeed’?"
Hearing this, Zhou Yang’s eyebrow shot up. "Wrong. What are you talking about? Of course she can say other things! What do you mean by that? Are you looking down on her?"
He nudged Lin Yue. "Come on, Lin Yue, tell him. You can say other things, can’t you?"
Lin Yue: "Exactly."
Zhou Yang was incredibly proud. "See? Isn’t that something else? She even knows English! My Lin Yue has a huge vocabulary."
The boy: "..."
He chose to turn and walk away, silently vowing never to ask the couple another question.
’I absolutely will not become a part of their ’play’!’
Zhou Yang was still rambling behind him. "He just doesn’t appreciate you. Lin Yue, let me tell you, this weekend we’ll go..."
As he was speaking, Zhou Yang suddenly stopped.
He noticed the classroom was gradually falling silent.
’Director Yang must be here.’
Zhou Yang immediately shut his mouth, sat up straight, and looked toward the lectern.
The classroom door was pushed open.
Jiang He walked in, his expression calm.
Following behind him was Cai Zhuoqun, holding a stack of textbooks.
In the section for Class 2, a few boys blurted out, "Holy crap, Old Jiang?"
The students from Class 1 and Class 3, however, were completely bewildered, looking at each other left and right.
"What’s going on? Where’s Director Yang?"
"Did the professor send a student to set up the PowerPoint ahead of time?"
Jiang He walked to the front of the lectern and set down the lecture notes.
He reached out and pulled the microphone on the lectern closer.
"Here’s the situation. Director Yang had to go to Shencheng for an urgent consultation. I’ll be substituting for this afternoon’s lecture."
The entire room fell silent.
A few seconds later, a burst of discussion erupted.
"Huh?"
"Holy shit..."
"Old Jiang is too badass, isn’t he?"
"He really became a teacher!"
Many of the students knew that the things Jiang He had done were impressive, but they didn’t know the specifics of just *how* impressive they were.
Top-journal papers, leading a project team... all of that was too distant for them to grasp.
But this time, everyone had a sudden epiphany!
’My classmate just became my substitute teacher in the blink of an eye. Can you even believe it?!’
The students from Class 2 felt their faces shining with pride. This was an incredible thrill!
Each of them felt like they were no longer on the same level as the students from Class 1 and Class 3.
’Our Class 2 is the best class!’
Jiang He continued, "Also, a personal matter. My project team has been very busy lately and is a bit short-staffed. I’ll be observing during today’s class. If anyone performs well, I’ll ask you to stay behind after class. This is your chance to join the team."
"Holy crap?!"
"Join the team!"
"Is this for real?"
By now, in all of Southern Medical University, who didn’t know what kind of entity Jiang He’s project team was?
’That’s a team that can publish in top-tier journals!’
