Chapter 1142: Chapter 75: Persona! Divine Position! (Part 2)
In just a short time, various Frost Giant tribes had prepared for battle. The elderly, women, and children stayed behind within the tribes, while the adult warriors and hunters gathered in the direction of the bloody town of Wolstad.
The earth was rumbling.
To the southwest of the Ice Crown Fortress, a group of colossal beings appeared on the icefield. The leading Frost Giant hunter had a solemn expression as he patted the fierce mammoth war elephant beneath him (challenge rating 16). With the earth’s tremors, Koschey’s most cherished Thundering Legion emerged at the outer edges of the battlefield.
Two rows of giant mammoth war elephants advanced along the icefield, their terrifying aura intimidating many overly aggressive demon cannon fodder.
It was just a single round of trampling.
The demon cannon fodder battalion, sent out by Duncan to deplete the enemy’s strength, was easily shattered. A raging snowstorm descended from the sky, with at least dozens of Frost Mages appearing near the battlefield, followed by mammoth war elephants standing seven to eight meters tall, rampaging through the scene. Only a few demons with the ability to fly managed to escape; the rest were crushed into mincemeat.
But even flight couldn’t necessarily ensure escape. The heavy javelins of the Frost Giant hunters were akin to rapid-fire ballistae—if even one hit its mark, not even demons could survive.
"Heavens."
"These mammoth war elephants are enormous."
A small demon gazed upon the distant colossal beings, having nearly lost all his courage to fight.
These mammoth war elephants approached the height of mammoth elephants from the magical ring, yet their strength far exceeded them. Many followed templates of fierce purgatory creatures; even Frost Giants would be trampled into mincemeat by them.
The Frost Giants of the Steel Icefield relied on a nomadic fishing-hunting lifestyle. They couldn’t tame many animals, yet the finest of this Great Icefield were the mammoth war elephants.
"Thankfully, they aren’t armored."
At that moment, Duncan was observing the distant battlefield through a god’s eye view. The Frost Giants’ civilization wasn’t highly advanced; only a few mammoth war elephants had donned rudimentary armor. These colossal beings had over 35 points of strength, such that no armor impacted their weight-bearing capacity; they could even support a tower installation on top.
The cannon fodder battalion was thoroughly overwhelmed.
Despite being vast in scale, against the barely five hundred strong Frost Giant battalion and thirty-something mammoth war elephants, even a single charge was enough to easily crush them. Once the demons’ morale collapsed, they fled everywhere in chaos.
"They actually have tactical command."
"This Frost Giant battalion has some skill." Duncan’s expression was mildly surprised.
As his view shifted, some unique creatures appeared at the back of the distant battlefield. They were humanoid beings with giant and human characteristics but overall resembled Dragon Descendants.
——Dragon Descendant (Four-star silver-gray).
——White Dragon Vein Mage (Four-star golden).
Unknown if these hybrid humanoids were born of humans with White Dragons or Frost Giants with White Dragons, their skin bore a tinge of icy blue, their dark vertical pupils betrayed cunning and cruelty. They were evidently more intelligent than other Frost Giants. Under their command, the two sides’ Frost Mages first covered the area with snowstorms, then charged forward, easily shattering tens of thousands of demons.
The ultimate commander wasn’t the King of Frost Giants but a six-star golden-marked Judgement Demon.
——Zirgurus (Six-star golden).
This should be the battalion’s commander. Who’d have thought the King of Frost Giants would actually employ a Tanari demon?
"Why are there so many Frost Mages?"
"Is his base so abundant?"
Just as Duncan locked in on his target, the commanding Judgement Demon at the battlefield’s rear solemnly waved a hand to order, with more teleportation portals opening. Up to a hundred Ice Giant Mages urgently appeared on the battlefield, their immense magic power even affecting the climate herein. Subsequently, a sky-darkening snowstorm and hail engulfed the entire battlefield on the Great Icefield.
"Alert! Alert!"
"Detected fluctuations in the Cold Winter Domain."
"Planar attributes changed—Frost Magic spell level increased by +1, Frost Magic piercing effects enhanced."
It’s rare to encounter a Demon Lord that can alter planar characteristics.
This means the King of Frost Giants’ dominion over this plane was already nearing perfection. Many planes possessed corresponding attributes, like the Elemental Plane enhancing the spell level of corresponding elemental magic.
"Target locked!"
"Prepare for beheading!"
Duncan directly ignored those easily shattered demon battalions, nor did he care much for the second wave of demons. Once marking the target’s location, next moment, the spiritual light of a Teleportation Spell erupted. In Zirgurus’s horrified gaze, three Balor flames demons descended suddenly with over a dozen six-armed snake demons, among them even a High-tier Enchanting Mage.
Dimensional Lock.
That High-tier Enchanting Mage immediately locked it out of its teleportation spells, then the three Balor flames demons grinned fiendishly as they swung the Beheading Giant Sword down. The six-armed snake demons on both sides instantly unfurled a blade barrier, not only blocking other enemies’ reinforcement but also having spare capacity to slaughter Zirgurus.
My doom is sealed!
A trace of despair shone in Zirgurus’s eyes. What worth did he have that would warrant three Balor flames demons joining forces to execute him? It took barely a moment for the Judgement Demon before him to be hacked into meat paste strewn across the ground.
Yet even in death, it remained honored, for it was marked by the great Lord of the Silver Palace. The Balor flames demon leader personally imprisoned its soul.
Being a demon has this advantage.
If you can’t make an enemy submit, then kill him, throw his soul into the abyssal blood pool. The demon born from this may not have the powerful abilities of its previous life, yet it can inherit a portion of past memories.
