How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World
Chapter 309: An Unfamiliar Man
After Mo Jue had placated his daughter, the marriage ceremony continued as planned. Of course, there was a little bit of a hiccup, but everything was still going smoothly.
As per tradition, the ceremony started with Wei Chen bringing the bride, in this case, Mo Xingyao, to his home. This was getting a little complicated. Wei Chen had two homes. The first was an apartment in the Underworld Palace square, an apartment he had received as an employee incentive that he had never bothered to check out.
And the other was the Death Star, the fortress that Wei Chen had used to decimate the beast tide and save Ximen Clan’s Cloud City.
The bride, in all her glory, stepped onto the gangway in her red bridal dress under the guidance of two attendants. In this case, however, they were two of her closest sisters.
The first was Dream Butterfly, and the second... was Song Wan.
Seeing this scene made Wei Chen unconsciously break into a sweat. Somehow, he had a bad feeling about this.
Of course, he had already claimed Dream Butterfly, and he intended to have a wedding with her as well, a small and special wedding.
A Christian one...
Since the two worlds were now connected, a small wedding in a church wouldn’t be too much to ask.
But... aside from that, why was Song Wan here? Wouldn’t it have been more reasonable if the other one were Yin Lan? That gloomy bodyguard with the bamboo hat.
As he thought about this, the ceremony continued, and Wei Chen snapped his fingers to call the Death Star and have it shift to the nearby mountain just outside the city.
At the outskirts of Thousand Treasure City, dozens of flying arks were waiting in the sky.
The flying arks of the Ximen Clan occupied a large area, since their clan had brought a lot of people and many dignitaries from within Cloud City. Some dignitaries from the Vermilion Bird Empire had also come along with them.
The group from the Heavenly Sword Sect had also arrived with the Sword Manor, which was now more like U-Phone Manor since they had stopped bothering with forging swords and gone all-in on creating U-Phones.
The third group was from the demonic path, specifically those who were not too far along the demonic spectrum and could still trade and conduct business within Thousand Treasure City without being chased down by the city enforcers for doing things like sacrificing innocents for their cultivation.
And the last and smallest group consisted of people from various small factions. Their flying arks were not particularly impressive, but the sincerity behind the gifts they had brought was genuine.
The group consisted of many merchants and wealthy mortals from within Thousand Treasure City.
Suddenly, a sky fortress made of metal and steel slowly appeared in the sky amidst the blue light that shone as it shifted from the Underworld.
The strange architecture, combined with its oddly appealing dark aesthetic, metal surfaces, and intricate patterns, greeted the people waiting in the sky.
They were all in awe at the appearance of the steel fortress.
"Is this Young Master Wei’s estate? Incredible!"
"As expected of the young master of the Underworld Palace! Even his home is not simple. It can even float in the sky."
"Yeah, I wonder how many resources were spent on creating this estate."
The people discussed the scene in front of them with excitement.
While they were discussing the appearance of Wei Chen’s sky fortress, they did not have to wait long. The marriage procession was already cruising through the clouds toward the sky fortress.
The marriage procession slowly approached the Death Star, its enormous steel structure looming above the clouds like a dark fortress floating in the heavens.
As the procession drew closer, the hundreds of attendants accompanying the bride and groom began to spread out according to the arrangements made beforehand. The flying arks from the various factions also followed behind, maintaining a respectful distance from the main procession.
The Death Star opened its massive docking bay.
A series of mechanical structures unfolded from within the fortress, forming a grand platform for the arriving procession.
When the Ximen Clan’s flying ark finally entered the docking bay, the festive music grew louder.
Red silk banners hung from the steel structures, enormous red lanterns floated in the air, and golden ornaments had been attached to various parts of the fortress. Even the usually cold and intimidating metal walls had been decorated with elaborate patterns meant to symbolize good fortune and prosperity.
Wei Chen stood at the front of the ark, looking toward the fortress with a strange feeling in his heart.
This scene...
If the people waiting for him were wearing white armor and holding laser guns, with helmets specifically designed to reduce the wearer’s accuracy when firing their weapons...
And if the Imperial March started playing, he would feel like a dark lord who enjoyed crushing people’s windpipes as a hobby.
As Wei Chen’s mind wandered into its usual nonsensical zone, the ceremony continued.
The moment the procession arrived, the sound of drums and gongs echoed throughout the fortress.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Ching! Ching! Chang!
A group of musicians began playing festive music while a pair of enormous lion dancers leaped and danced across the platform.
The two lions were exceptionally lively, jumping from one platform to another as the musicians followed their movements.
Cheers erupted from the people gathered around.
"Congratulations to Young Master Wei!"
"Congratulations to Young Master Wei and Lady Mo!"
"May the two of you live together for a thousand years!"
"May your marriage be blessed with prosperity and happiness!"
The atmosphere immediately became lively.
Even the cultivators who normally maintained dignified expressions could not help but smile as they watched the lion dance. Even though the dance was performed by mortals, the festive atmosphere alone was quite infectious.
Wei Chen looked around and could not help but feel a little surreal. This was his first marriage ceremony in his two lives.
Then he turned toward his bride.
Mo Xingyao stood beside Dream Butterfly and Song Wan, dressed in her magnificent red bridal robe.
Her face was partially covered by the traditional red bridal veil, but Wei Chen could still see the faint smile on her lips.
He walked toward her.
"Yaoyao."
"Hmm?" Mo Xingyao looked toward him.
"Let’s go."
Mo Xingyao nodded lightly. All of her usual willfulness was nowhere to be seen. Like a small bird, she leaned toward Wei Chen and followed his arrangements without complaint. A smile crossed her lips, drawing Wei Chen’s gaze.
This girl is quite cute.
Yeah... as long as she doesn’t act like a miser, she’s really cute.
As his thoughts wandered, he extended his hand toward her. She took it and followed him down from the flying ark.
As per tradition, the bride’s feet must not touch the ground. But since the definition of "ground" was quite vague, Wei Chen found himself wondering, Does standing on a red carpet count as touching the ground or not?
These were things Wei Chen did not know, he had asked four different people and received four different interpretations.
In the end, he decided to improvise.
He asked Lian Cheng to create a simple hoverboard artifact.
Yes, it looked just like the hoverboard from ’Back to the Future’
Wei Chen placed it on the ground and let Mo Xingyao step onto it.
"Aaaahhh! This thing is nice! It looks fun! After this ceremony, tell me how to make it. I think a lot of people would love it, especially wealthy mortals!"
Hearing this, Wei Chen could not help but roll his eyes.
This girl is really something. She could not even refrain from thinking about how to make money for a single day.
The ceremony continued, and the ceremony master quickly floated above the ground and scattered a mixture of various grains and beans. As per tradition, this ritual was meant to drive away all evil spirits from the ceremony.
Both Wei Chen and Mo Xingyao walk alongside each otehr, if Mo Xingyao stand on teh hover borad is consider wlak, the nshe’s walking.
The two arrived at the ancestral hall of the castle, where Mo Jue, who had arrived first, was already waiting. He is the family member from the bride’s side.
As for Wei Chen’s side, he noticed an unfamiliar man.
The man had long hair and was dressed entirely in black, with fiery patterns embroidered across his black robe. His face carried a casual smile that somehow made people feel calm and reassured.
He had a beard and mustache styled like Zhuge Liang from *Romance of the Three Kingdoms*. However, he did not have a fan and was not wearing any hat.
He looked more like a scholar who knew how to fight.
Standing beside him were four women. On his right were Duanmu Qingcheng and Yan Rongjun, while on his left stood Yan Xuanjun and Youqi.
Wei Chen’s eyes narrowed.
Wait... this guy... could it be...
